Michael nearly dropped the ring after hearing the name carved inside. He read the same book that Veronica did, so it wasn't the first time he heard the name Axim.

Everyone in the Ascended community knew who Victor Axim was. He was married to one of history's most prominent figures, and his own daughter accused him of her murder.

There were a lot more stories about both Victor, Isabelle, and the rest of the Axim family. Most of these stories were from before Saint Virginia's time, since the Axim family once was the world's largest and strongest royal family.

Once, long ago, they controlled most of the Eastern Continent. But, eventually most of them went mad, and they killed each other.

Many clues clicked into place after Michael's thought. A curse supposedly afflicted the Axim family, leading numerous members to insanity.
