A Job Well Done

Melanie invited Marie to talk in the early evening. In the invitation, she received a lengthy thank-you note regarding the introduction between her and Mr. Keyes.

Upon arrival, Marie quickly realized that something was off. Melanie seemed awfully excited, not at all like her normal, depressed self. She was even happier than before she learned about the affair.

Marie was a smart person and figured out within seconds what could've happened. But she didn't wear any of her thoughts on her face. Instead, she warmly hugged her friend and followed her into the back garden.

The sitting area inside the flower patches had been prepared for a feast or celebration. Multiple freshly baked cakes, pastries, cupcakes, and other sweets sat on the large table. Marie's mouth watered just by looking at them.
