Upon hearing a new but cold voice suddenly speak up out of the closed observation deck at the very top of the pavilion, everyone within the pavilion, including the ones who didn't even know about the whole situation to begin with, immediately became silent and held in their breath as they felt an immense pressure weighing down on them.
Ronald also slowly turned his head towards the closed observation deck, and after a few painstakingly long seconds later, two pavilion guards slowly slide the shoji sliding doors open, revealing a woman drinking tea while wearing a red dress with long red crimson hair, yellow gazing eyes, and nice slim body.
Her looks would've practically put every other models to shame back on earth.
It's the next heroine of the story, Li Wanruo.
In the original novel, it was said that not only did she have an extremely strong aura that could make even the elitest bodyguards of some of the major families shiver their legs, but would also kill or torture anyone that had offended her without blinking an eye.
She was essentially as ruthless as Xie Roulin.
Well Ronald wasn't too surprised about it, as she does come from a family that can cultivate, and a lot of the cultivators in the novel were usually short-tempered.
What was slightly surprising however, was that Li Wanruo didn't simply start berating him right away just like she did in his previous life after he had insulted the entire pavilion itself, but considering that he had technically only indirectly insulted the pavilion this time around by calling Iris a 'shitty' pavilion maid, her current attitude made sense, and even befitting of her original personality.
'Well, she seems normal at least.'
"I'll repeat myself one more time. Who gave you permission to quit like this?" Seeing no response from Iris whatsoever, Li Wanruo calmly repeated herself again as she casually took another sip of her tea.
"No one. I don't need permission from you to quit, do I?" Although Iris was slightly afraid right now, she still glared at the top of the observation tower and said coldly to draw all of her attention onto her.
Even though she was considered one of the strongest killers overseas, she was still relatively weaker compared to Li Wanruo in a direct confrontation at the moment since she had just regressed back yesterday and didn't have any time to start cultivating yet.
But she wasn't afraid of Li Wanruo simply because of that.
In fact, even if Li Wanruo was an immortal being right now, she still wouldn't be afraid of her.
What she was mainly afraid of was Li Wanruo harming Ronald, just like she had apparently done after he caused some trouble in her previous life as well.
And sure, while Ronald did save her life and was strong in the future, Iris knew that the current Ronald was extremely weak right now, and she couldn't stand to see him get hurt at all.
She'd rather give up her life first before even seeing him get a single scratch in this life.
With that in mind, Iris slowly moved her hand over to the handle of one of the daggers she had in between her stockings while getting ready to retaliate.
Before Iris could do anything too serious however, Li Wanruo's next response caught her and even everyone else in the pavilion off guard.
"You're right. You don't need permission. Just leave if you want."
That's right, Li Wanruo actually dismissed it so nonchalantly!
It was common knowledge amongst the martial artists community that Li Wanruo had no toleration against anyone who disrespected her in any way and wouldn't even hesitate to kill someone on the spot if she had to.
So the fact that she didn't even seem to bat and eye on it even after the maid had practically disrespected her authority was astonishing.
Hell, even Ye Fan was extremely confused and fustrated at this development even though he shouldn't.
He only took a slight glance at the closed observation deck when he first entered after all, and the guards tried hunting him down because of it!
That was the reason why he couldn't immediately come to Iris in time the moment Ronald started yelling at Iris and even slightly embarrassed himself again by panting in front of Ronald after the coast was clear.
Luckily, none of the guards seem to want to get close to him and only kept watch after he got close to Ronald, so that was good at least.
While everyone was in shock and speculating why Li Wanruo was being so oddly lenient all of a sudden, Li Wanruo on the other hand couldn't help but feel gloomy inside her heart.
In all honestly, she actually knew that Iris was just disguised as a maid, and she didn't want Iris to be at Ronald's side whatsoever.
That was why she had planned on questioning Iris why she was trying to leave, and then find a way to prevent her from doing so without seeming so unusual compared to her usual self.
But when she had repeated her question again, Ronald suddenly made a frown look on his face, indicating that he wasn't happy about her trying to prevent Iris from leaving.
So she could only sigh inwardly and let Iris go in order to make Ronald happy.
Thankfully, it seemed that Iris was also a regressor just like she was based on the way she saw her behaving towards Ronald earlier, and so she doesn't have to worry about Iris harming Ronald this time around.
"You, however, don't get to leave so easily." Seeing that Ye Fan was slowly trying to back away from the scene and escape, Li Wanruo gently put down her tea cup and then suddenly vanished from her spot.
Then not even a few seconds later, she reappeared besides Ye Fan and grasped him by the collar.
"W-what the hell...! Put me down..." Ye Fan shouted as he tried to free himself.
To his surprise however, he couldn't even budge an inch against this woman!
"Oh? You came into this Pavilion uninvited, you ran away from all of my guards, and then you caused a tremendous amount of trouble for my VIP guest, and now you want me to let you go? How adorable." Li Wanruo smiled with amusement as she tightened her grip on Ye Fan's collar.
Let alone simply grabbing his collar, she wanted to straight up murder Ye Fan in cold blood right now.
After all, this was the biggest insect that dared ruin Ronald's life in the previous life.
If she could get rid of him now, then she wouldn't have to watch Ronald disappear 7 years from now.
Unfortunately, the forces behind him were currently so much stronger than her cultivation family right now that she can't simply kill him off just yet.
Fortunately, none of the forces backing him up are in China at the moment, and so she could settle for less while he can't move them to China as easily.
"You're truly fortunate that I haven't already turned your pitiful existence into a corpse decorating my Pavilion floor yet, you know that, right?" Li Wanruo said coldly as her grip tightened ever so slightly on Ye Fan's collar, making him wince in discomfort, "Now behave like a good little dog and shut up for me."
Li Wanruo then began dragging Ye Fan through the floor while he was desperately still trying to break free.
Weirdly enough however, the moment she had walked right past Ronald...
"Hey, where do you think you're going?" Ronald hurriedly spatted out.
Even though Li Wanruo's original personality appeared to be normal considering that she was easily offended by Ye Fan breaking in, although he didn't exactly know how she found out in this life, he knew that he couldn't afford to let Li Wanruo bring Ye Fan back to the back and let her torture him by any means.
Those two are supposed to be on good terms with each other after this plot ends after all.
"Hm? I'm just going to the back with him, that's all. Why? Am I not allowed to do so?" Surprised by Ronald's sudden voice, Li Wanruo couldn't help but stop in her tracks and said in her usual cold tone as she forced herself to meet Ronald's gaze, her heart pounding faster with each passing second.
"No, I want him to stay put here."
"And may I ask why?"
"Isn't it painfully obvious? I want this loser to stay in this shitty Pavilion and witness everything that happens here unfold right before his very eyes. That way, he'll finally realize just how insignificant he is compared to everyone else here, especially me. Besides, your shitty Pavilion was the one that mistakenly let him in here to begin with." Although Ronald had no idea what the hell he was spouting out right now, he figured he might as well directly insult her Pavilion to draw all of her hatred toward himself, and thus allowing her and Ye Fan a chance to eventually find common grounds with each other.
And as he expected, the moment he finished speaking, she raised an eyebrow at his response and her gaze flickered between him and Ye Fan for a few seconds before finally asking, "Are you sure that's what you want me to do, Master Kuangge?"
Li Wanruo replied back in such a bone-chilling tone that everyone in the Pavilion now couldn't help but feel suffocated by her, even if they weren't the one being questioned.
It was obvious that he had finally offended her, and she was undoubtedly going to beat him up and most likely get acquainted with Ye Fan sooner or later.
It was just a matter of time.
'Hey, maybe she'll even beat me up right now so I can leave this shitty plot early and go home.'
Of course, Ronald hadn't forgot that he had originally visited the Pavilion to buy 'The Imperial Inkstone of Prosperity' for Luna in order for him to get face slapped by her the next time he encounters her, but he decided that he'll just hire someone to create a fake replica of it and give it to her, making her hate him even more.
With those positive thoughts in mind, Ronald smirked and confidently nodded his head.
"That's what I said, didn't I? Are you deaf or something?"
And just like that, everyone in the Pavilion got mentally prepared to watch Li Wanruo straight up massacre the Young Master of the Kuangge family and throw him out of the Pavilion.
Unexpectedly however...
"Very well, Master Kuangge. I'll oblige. Take care of yourself now."
Li Wanruo smiled warmly at Ronald, then let go of Ye Fan and simply walked back to her observation deck, leaving everyone including Ronald and Ye Fan dumbfounded.
Everyone was so dumbfounded in fact, that nobody said anything for the next couple of minutes.
'...'
'Well, at least she left Ye Fan alone...'
'...'
'This second life sucks.'
