Chapter Thirteen

Angel's eyes blinked rapidly at the shocking revelation. She thought Atticus's marriage was an arranged marriage; she never thought he was getting married to the lady he liked.

"I can't believe you got married to the lady you like. Congratulations," Angel muttered half-heartedly.

She thought her high school rival would one day look her in the eyes and confess his feelings to her. Waiting for that day to come, she stayed by his side as his high school rival and long-term friend.

"Thank you, Angel. I hope you meet a man who will treat you well. I will drop the fact that we were rivals and gift you a building," Atticus said with a faint smile.

"It's a promise, beast. If you go against it, I will cut off your balls," she threatened, and they both burst into laughter.

The laughter lasted for a short while as Atticus excused himself. He walked into the ward where Angel transported Sabrina.

Staring at Sabrina's bright face, compared to how pale it was earlier, a single tear forced its way to his face.

"I am sorry this happened to you. I will make sure it never happens again," he said after walking up to her, caressing her hand softly.

"Why did you wake me from this long sleep?" Sabrina asked, her brow knotted.

"Don't move. Don't talk. Just focus your gaze on me," he said calmly, their eyes piercing into each other.

"Why should I? If you would excuse me, I want to sleep," Sabrina uttered harshly before shutting her eyes.

Not having any option other than to give her the privacy she wanted, he walked out.

His heart skipped a beat as he saw his grandfather standing at the front of Sabrina with his hand tucked in his pocket.

"Grandpa, what are you doing here?"

Mr. Sawyer chuckled at his naive grandson. He had ears everywhere. Since his grandson wasn't picking up his call, he decided to check his live CCTV cameras.

Amused by the incident, he decided to come confirm for himself without informing Alexander, Mirabel, or Vivian.

"I heard my granddaughter-in-law was poisoned. The person who did that has just called for a war from me," he assured Atticus, who looked stressed and exhausted to him.

He wanted to throw him a grand wedding and party, but it was ruined by the person who poisoned Sabrina.

"Grandpa, don't worry. I have everything under control, okay? Just go home and rest. Don't forget what your doctor told you," he reminded Mr. Sawyer before heading to Angel's ward, where Francis was waiting for him.

After knocking twice, Angel opened the door for him and asked, "If you are looking for your secretary, you can go. I want to borrow him for today. See it as payment for saving your wife."

"Sure thing, but I want to ask him for a favor," he said before instructing Francis. "Francis, I want you to check Alicia's schedule and inform me about it."

"Yes, sir," Francis said before reaching for his tab.

Knowing the kind of inconsistent person Atticus was, he always made sure to be prepared for his requests.

"Sir, she is at Jay restaurant at the moment," Francis informed him after going through Alicia's schedule.

"Angel, you can have him to yourself, just for today," Atticus said before leaving the hospital.

He got into the car and drove to the restaurant. It was a thirty-minute ride from the hospital to the restaurant.

After pulling over at the parking lot, he alighted from his car before entering the restaurant. His eyes scanned everywhere before they finally landed on someone who wore a black jacket and black cap. From the back view, Atticus already knew it was Alicia.

He tucked his hands into his pants pocket before walking up to her table. He hesitated before sitting in front of them.

"Alicia, I can't believe you are hiding here of all places," Atticus muttered, not caring about those taking photographs of him.

With the number of people present, Alicia couldn't act rashly. All gazes were on her.

"Why are you here, Mr. Sawyer?" She asked, sounding polite and humble.

"Am I not the one who is supposed to ask the reason for poisoning my wife?" Atticus asked calmly, smiling as he stared at her. "Didn't I inform you about what I would do to your family if any harm comes near her from you all?"

"I am going to let this slid, but the next time you or your family tries to hurt my wife, I wouldn't be too kind to act softly," his warning sent chills down Alicia's spine. "In case you have forgotten, I still have videos of you making out with Kelvin and other videos you would prefer not to know about," Atticus added.

Atticus stood up to leave but was stopped by Alicia's grip on his trousers. "Thank you for forgiving me this once. I promise not to harm Sabrina again."

He nodded his head before leaving. He got into the car, hoping it had already started.

After getting into his car, his phone began to ring. Knowing it was Francis, he decided to answer it, urious about the reason Francis was calling.

"Is anything the problem?" His voice echoed before Francis could speak.

"Yes, there is a problem. Sabrina is all over the internet. The whole country already knew she is a stripper. Someone leaked it to the media," Francis informed him.

'Damn!' Atticus gritted his teeth as he hit his steering. "Prepare a press conference for me and hand the videos we have about Alicia to the media."

"Don't include the video she had an argument with Sabrina," he added calmly.

"Sir, but today is your—"

"Francis, no buts, just carry out my orders and apologize to Angel on my behalf," he interrupted him before hanging up.
