Arthur's gaze swept across the crowd before him, looking at the young faces and murmured, “Agares, what do you think I should say?”

“Cambridge is the same!” he added immediately.

The Shadow of Great Britain

The carriage whistled past, raising a gust of wind that caused the sparse trees on both sides of the street to sway gently.


The muzzle burst with firelight, like a sudden flash of lightning.


The joyful atmosphere was abruptly torn apart by the sound of gunfire, deafening, echoing through the narrow streets like thunder.


Two men, four handguns, twenty-four bullets, overshadowed Paris's sky like clouds, as if it were a drizzle suddenly falling on the walls of the Kaidao Sai Mansion, pitter-pat.


The guards responsible for the King's safety were briefly stunned but quickly realized what was happening. The Guard Commander shouted orders to his men to use the wall as cover and return fire, while escorting the King back to the mansion's hall.


"Your Majesty, it's too dangerous outside, please return to the hall first!"


Louis Philippe was initially taken aback by the unanticipated assassination attempt, but he quickly regained his composure.
