Chapter 23 Monsters...No, Giants Besiege

"Forge City is really hot." Jed wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked towards the horizon, which resembled a mountain-like cauldron.

"By the way, boss... do you know about Forge City?"

"Do you know it well?" Xi Mu retorted, only to see Jed smile confidently, hands akimbo on his wheat-colored slender waist.

"Boss, you've asked the right person. I have been to Forge City many times. I know very clearly what's good to eat here and which store sells cheap weapons."

"What if I asked about its history and origins?" Xi Mu chuckled, gazing at the majestic cauldron overflowing with lava.

Jed scratched his cheek and awkwardly looked away, "That kind of old-fashioned history, who would specifically learn about that?"

"Forge City was built by the giant race for their deity, the Flame Giant Surter. The legendary Sword of Light, along with many Divine Artifacts, were all forged by the Flame Giant Surter here."

Letixia suddenly spoke up, her emerald eyes reflecting the flowing magma in the cauldron and explaining to both Xi Mu and Jed.

"However, later on, because the Flame Giant Surter went mad, he was forever sealed by the All Gods into the underworld, and the original residents of Forge City were all driven out."

"Now, Forge City gathers the top forging masters from across the world, beside the giants. They use the residual power of the Flame Giant Surter to create high-quality weapons and armor."

"If you want to find weapons that fit your heart's desire, coming to Forge City is the right choice."

Jed clapped his hands, looking at Letixia who was smoothly narrating the history of Forge City and couldn't help but exclaim, "Sister Letixia, as a princess, you truly know much more."

"Perhaps because I'm more interested in the history of Forge City." Letixia smiled and did not elaborate on why she was so familiar with Forge City.

"Is this the humility of a noble?" Jed smirked, turning to look at Xi Mu but noticed that Xi Mu had taken out a heavy broadsword and a Giant Hunter's Spear from the compartment.

She couldn't help but chuckle.

"Don't worry, there are no giants in Forge City, even if you carry the Giant Hunter's Spear, it's pointless."

"Better safe than sorry," Xi Mu casually explained, and Jed did not argue further, merely displaying an amused expression.

She cocked her hip with one hand and spoke to Xi Mu.

"Boss, just wait for me a moment. I'll chat with the head and then bring you guys to eat something delicious." With that, she playfully winked and turned to run towards the front of the caravan, talking briefly with a few adventurers, then gesturing towards Xi Mu and Letixia.

After the caravan leader nodded in agreement, Jed revealed a happy smile and cheerfully showed Xi Mu and Letixia around Forge City.

...

...

On the streets.

"Boss, isn't it tiring carrying two weapons like this?" Jed tilted her head, looking at Xi Mu's posture carrying the Giant Hunter's Spear and shouldering the heavy broadsword.

Even for a strong adventurer like her, she would not be willing to keep holding the Giant Hunter's Spear, let alone wearing armor and carrying a heavy sword.

It was too much of a waste of energy.

"Better safe than sorry," Xi Mu replied, after which Letixia added, nearby.

"Jed, we need to be prepared for assassins that might appear at any moment." She touched the thin sword at her waist.

Given the sudden disaster that erupted in Lionheart Castle, it was impossible for assassins to trace them and find Xi Mu in a short time.

However, with patience or a willingness to spend money on an Astrologer for positioning, they would eventually be found.

Of course, they probably could not catch up now.

"It's those assassins!" Jed realized, vigilantly looking around. Somehow, a dagger appeared in her hand, though no one knew where she had hidden it.

But after scanning the area, she relaxed again.

"No wonder the hire fee was so high this time." She came to her senses, not overly concerned but simply asking Xi Mu.

"Boss, can we get extra money if we help fend off the assassins?"

"I'll handle the assassins myself!" Xi Mu countered decisively, not letting anyone else take the experience he was due.

"But, we can give extra money."

"Ha... are you serious, boss?" Jed's eyes widened, as if to confirm whether Xi Mu was joking or not.

Xi Mu did not explain but walked into a restaurant ahead.

...

...

Outside Forge City.

Groups of giants gathered, beginning to surround Forge City, the organization of their activity strikingly similar to that of an army.

"...Finally, we can reclaim the holy city," a figure emerged from among the groups of giants, clad in black armor and wielding a huge Wolf Fang Club.

His height nearly reached twelve meters, his pupils seeming to burn with flames.

"Besides the forge, destroy everything else, buildings, humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, fairies... all of it," he ordered.

"Understood," a red-haired female giant came forward, similarly clad in black armor, though she held a long spear.

From its appearance, it greatly resembled the Giant Hunter's Spear.

"Prepare to throw!" The female giant assumed a throwing pose, her target locked on the highest structure in Forge City.

Behind her, thousands of giants assumed the same stance.

"Throw!" Her wrist powered through, accompanied by her torso's rotation, the spear lit up with a phosphorescent green glow and then pierced the air.

Followed closely were thousands of similarly enchanted spears, raining down like a cluster of missiles, bombarding Forge City.
