Chapter 5 Bliss

Zhou Yuan opened his eyes again and found himself standing on a quiet street.

With the help of the streetlamp's pale light, he could see his surroundings clearly.

The night was serene; the street deserted, with a few cars parked on both sides, their license plates of the style from the America Continent, and the words on the shop signs and billboards around were all in English.

"A small town in America..."

Zhou Yuan was amazed; just a second ago, he was in the East Continent, and the next, he had teleported to America. It was incredible.

"Next up is to find the targets and kill them."

The newbie mission was really simple, no puzzling brain-burners, just kill the target—that's perfectly in line with most players' impatient attitude—I don't know who I am, I don't know where I am, all I know is that I want to start killing!

"But the problem is, in such a big place, where should I go to find them?"

Zhou Yuan walked out of the alley and looked around. As he looked towards the west, the Eyes of Identification provided a mission prompt.

[Go this way.]

"That hint is really straightforward."

Zhou Yuan mumbled to himself as he walked west along the street.

With the illusion effect in place, he wasn't worried about being caught on surveillance cameras. After all, once the mission was over, he'd teleport away. Who would imagine that he came from the far shores of the ocean?

Thirty minutes later.

Zhou Yuan arrived at a farm located on the outskirts of the town.

In the farm, a villa with lights on stood isolated, surrounded by endless darkness, as if it were an island floating in a deep, dark ocean, ready to be devoured at any moment.

Zhou Yuan couldn't help but get goosebumps. Although he had a gun, the atmosphere was too eerie, and being naturally timid, he felt scared.

He cautiously looked in all directions, and the Eyes of Identification popped up a bunch of prompts.

[There are animal traps here], [There are spike traps here], [There are snake traps here]...

Gosh, who sets up so many traps... Zhou Yuan's eyelids twitched as he followed the Eyes of Identification's tips, dodging left and right, and it took him more than ten minutes to finally reach the front door of the villa.

The villa's windows were tightly closed, the curtains drawn shut, and a piano sound wafted from a second-floor window. The melody was soothing and gentle, as if it painted the world with colors, instantly dispelling the oppressive darkness around.

However, faintly, Zhou Yuan heard some discordant noises, and his expression changed slightly.

After a moment's thought, he activated the Ghostwalker and charged straight into the villa.

Upon entering, the noises became clearer; a woman's screams: "oh! yes! yes!!"

His expression turned strange, and he couldn't help but look up.

[Above your head, Jim and Helena are composing the great harmony of life, while at the same time, Helena's husband—the pianist Bob, is playing the piano to cheer them on.

This is not a solo, not a duet of revelry, but a trio of paradise!

As a being with a Charm level of 8, you can simply go up and knock on the door to join them.]

"Okay, okay, this is how we're playing it."

Got to figure out a way to kill them, these noises are too filthy.

Zhou Yuan tiptoed around the house, searching, as his gaze focused on a spot, a prompt popped up.

[The floor here can be opened, you might find something unexpected.]

Something unexpected?

"Just hope it's not some body parts soaking in formalin..."

Zhou Yuan muttered as he fumbled around, successfully moving the wooden floor to reveal a metal box with a combination lock underneath.

[The password is 6324, it contains your favorite things.]

Click!

Zhou Yuan entered the password to unlock the box, which contained several stacks of banknotes and three glittering gold bars.

Indeed, it was his favorite type of loot!

He was thrilled, and quickly stashed the box into his player's backpack.

The grid in the player's backpack had no limit; Zhou Yuan could indefinitely store items in it, although there was a restriction on the size of the items—they couldn't be too large.

After resetting the floor to its original position, Zhou Yuan continued to roam around the first floor. The noise upstairs hadn't ceased; rather, it had become even more intense with the rhythm of the fierce piano music.

He pulled out the Bow Tie Voice Changer and began recording the voices of Jim and Helena, thinking that even if he didn't need them for this mission, he could use their voices for disguises in the future.

Soon, he had scoured the first floor and found nothing of value, which was disappointing.

"You're kidding, even the gas is turned off."

In the kitchen, Zhou Yuan was speechless as his plan for a gas explosion fell through.

He had no choice but to activate Ghost Walker again, stepping out of the house and into the adjacent warehouse.

"Not even gasoline?"

His plan for an arson attack also fell through.

"Hm... The hint earlier said I could just go up and knock on the door. That must not be a joke but a genuinely useful mission tip."

Zhou Yuan pondered for a moment, and after waiting for the cooldown period of Ghost Walker to end, he stepped out of the warehouse, entered the villa, and confidently walked up to the second floor to knock on the door.

Thump, thump, thump.

The symphony inside paused momentarily, but then Jim and Helena resumed playing.

"You have got to be kidding me, they're continuing?" Zhou Yuan was shocked, wondering if they were either carefree or truly indifferent.

"Who is it?" The speaker was presumably the musician Bob.

Zhou Yuan only had a junior high school education and did not speak English, but he knew the Federation language—created a hundred years earlier after the Third World War when the World Federation Government was established to facilitate communication among different regions.

"I'm here to join you," Zhou Yuan replied in Federation language.

Creak.

The door opened, revealing a man in a tailcoat, gaunt-faced, with eyes bloodshot and frenzied, appearing somewhat mad.

At the same time, a prompt from the Eyes of Identification popped up.

[Musician Bob, impotent and cuckolded severely by his wife, could meet seven men who had slept with his wife even when just out buying cigarettes, and subsequently developed a peculiar fetish.

A few days ago, he acquired a mysterious score at a gathering of musicians and has been mad since that night.]

Bob looked Zhou Yuan up and down with those crazed eyes for a moment, then suddenly flashed a grin of delight:

"Come in quickly!"

"Ah? Just like that?" Zhou Yuan was momentarily taken aback, secretly heightening his vigilance as he stepped inside.

He then froze, rigid as a statue, facing a scene he would never forget.

On the bed.

A massive blubbery mass of white flesh writhed non-stop, with four arms, four legs, and two heads—one male and one female—both displaying expressions of bliss, as if they were enjoying the delights of paradise.

This seemed to be the grotesque result of two bodies fused together, but it also resembled a fleshly breeding ground built by countless maggots, with nearly every inch of the body undulating and twisting, causing a tingling sensation on the scalp.

Bob was unfazed by such a sight, quickly returning to the piano with a joyful look overflowing from his face, unable to stop himself from exclaiming:

"Seeing such a handsome man like you join us is truly a wonderful thing, ah... bliss!!!"
