Chapter-31: Dogfood...!!!

If the news was juicy enough for them, that was all. The rumor would circulate until a hummingbird turned into an Archaeopteryx.

Mu Chen understood that Xiao Bo needed assurance.

"I will not believe anyone. I trust you, Snowball."

Just that short sentence was enough for Xiao Bo to tear up again.

In his last life, he tried so many times to earn Mu Chen's trust but the other never believed in him, that was too far.

He never listened to Xiao Bo.

With everything and everyone against him no matter how long and loud he wanted to shout and tell them that he didn't do anything he couldn't as he was forced to stay silent.

He was bound by shackles his father laid for him. His mouth was plastered, and he was made to look ugly to outsiders so that they would never approach him to help.

He was like a living lifeless doll played by his father as a puppet to achieve his greed.

As such no one ever saw those bloody tears flowing down his cheeks. No one ever heard of his muffled heart-wrenching cries.

More like no one ever cared what the broken Xiao Bo was going through because he was the villain.

No, he was painted like the villain that he never was. So, they thought it was not necessary to know that a villain would just destroy everything without any reason.

But was that the truth? A villain was also a human being who has emotions. He would feel sadness too.

He would hurt, despair... and love too.

But the truth was no one cared about a Villain's feelings because he had just to be destroyed and ruined by the main protagonist.

After all, that was his damn role...he never asked for.

Just like everyone Mu Chen too didn't ask him and cruelly ordered his men to cut off his tongue before torturing him for the sins he never committed.

Still, when Mu Chen said that he trusted him Xiao Bo felt like crying in relief just like when one would see an oasis after walking tirelessly through the desert all alone for a long, long time right when he thought he would combust into thin air under the scorching sun.

"Y-You will trust me...why?" Xiao Bo queried as he wanted to hear the reason.

"Cause it's you... my Snowball. You are my Fiancee. If I don't trust you with whom I will be spending the rest of my life if everything goes well, then who should I trust?"

The corners of Xiao Bo's earlobes started turning red as he heard the reply but a question arose in his heart at the same time.

So, to clarify it he opened his mouth,

"W-What...if... i-if by any case... I-I am not your F-Fiance anymore... or will you t-trust me even if I am not your Fiance?"

He was nervous to ask the question which was why he stuttered badly, fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.

Mu Chen sighed with a knowing smile as he brushed the smaller's head endearingly.

"Even if you are not my Fiance, I will still trust you, and even if something happens in the future and we have to break our relationship that we are starting now, I will still trust you, Snowball. I, Wang Mu Chen promise you."

Xiao Bo gazed into the elder's eyes affectionately as a tear slid down his cheek. He hugged Mu Chen, placing his head on the nook of the elder's shoulder.

Mu Chen smiled as he brushed the back of Xiao Bo's head gently with one hand and with the other surrounded the thin waist of the smaller.

They were in that position until Xiao Bo felt drowsy but right then they heard a knock on the door.

Before they could react, Mrs. Wang entered the room to check whether his son was inside but was startled seeing them.

Quickly, she turned her face away unblinking.

Xiao Bo stared at Mrs. Wang's side profile popeyed all flustered and tried to get up from Mu Chen's lap.

Mu Chen helped the smaller to stand beside him as he cleared his throat signing his mother so that she could look at them.

Mrs. Wang turned to face them. Xiao Bo was looking down at his feet fidgeting his fingers.

When he felt Mrs. Wang's gaze on him unconsciously he stepped behind Mu Chen clutching onto the sleeves of the elder and peeked at her cautiously.

Mu Chen bent his neck and seeing the smaller his lips rose. He found this action of Xiao Bo adorable how he would hide behind someone he trusted when he was all flustered.

Now it was finally the turn of Mu Chen. Thinking that Xiao Bo started trusting him he felt proud of himself.

Mrs. Wang noticed the tiny curled lips of her son and the affectionate gaze directed towards his little lover that he brought home.

That was when she knew her stone-faced, cold-hearted wolfish son had totally fallen for this cute little rabbit in front of her.

She too heard so many rumours about Xiao Bo as it was the talk of the town a month ago.

As a social person who was well-known in high society, she knew almost every gossip that traveled.

But she never saw Xiao Bo and seeing him now all trembling, looking like a cornered rabbit scared by the ambush of a pack of wolves made her feel bad.

"Chen Chen, won't you introduce your Fiance to me?"

Mrs. Wang smiled looking at the smaller who immediately hid behind her son as soon as their eyes met.

"Snowball, come out," Mu Chen softly, whispered.

"Um..."

Feeling nervous he slowly stood beside Mu Chen holding his arm tightly.

"Ma, this is Xiao Bo, Song Xiao Bo, my Fiance and your future son-in-law."

Mu Chen confidently declared. Xiao Bo's cheeks flushed hearing the elder. He looked at him and at Mrs. Wang and quickly looked down at the carpet underneath his feet.

He even started counting the flowers on it sensing that Mrs. Wang was walking towards them.

The tuck-tuck of her branded high heels raised the heartbeats of Xiao Bo.

He never met Mrs. Wang in his last life. But she was the mother of Wang Mu Chen, would she allow her son to marry,

>>>Someone like me? Will she slap me and tell me to leave her son like in dramas?

Without him knowing he held his breath. As soon as he saw Mrs. Wang lifting her hand, he thought his cheeks were going to get swollen badly.

He flinched and shut his eyes, his hold on Mu Chen's arm tightened but that hand gently stroked his head.

"Little Xiao, welcome to the family."

Mrs. Wang noticed him flinch but she didn't feel offended rather felt guilty that she couldn't make a good impression of her making him scared.

Xiao Bo opened his eyes, his irises enlarged as he looked at her. He bowed to her at once.

"Y-Yes, tha...t-thank you Madam Wang."

"Wo de tian na! (oh my!) You are family no need for such formality. You can just call me Ma as Chen Chen."

She held his shoulders making him stand straight with a smile.

Xiao Bo looked at Mu Chen as if asking if it was okay to do that.

"Aiyaa! Why are you looking at him? You don't need his permission. I am telling you, you can call me Mama."

"M-Mama?" Xiao Bo blinked his eyes continuously in shock.

"That's right. You are such an obedient child unlike my unfilial son here," She gave side-eyes to her son who just ignored her.

"Ma, don't scare him. Leave him."

Mu Chen removed her hands from Xiao Bo and stood between them, possessively.

"Look at you! How am I scaring him? Do I look scary like a monster or something?" Mrs. Wang frowned, "Do I, little Xiao?"

Befuddled by the sudden question thrown at him, "Uh...N-No!"

"See, little Xiao isn't scared of me. If there is anyone in this room that is scaring little Xiao, it's you. You stone-faced gigantic!"

Mrs. Wang twisted her mouth mocking her son who had an 'I am so done' expression written all over his face.

"Forget it. Why are you here?" Mu Chen questioned.

"Ugh, I forgot. Everyone is waiting for you both in the dining hall to eat. I am here to call you, let's go," Mrs. Wang said.

"No need. We will be leaving. You guys go ahead and eat." Mu Chen's voice was stern.

He didn't want Xiao Bo to get frightened again by his family's judging gazes. Also his father, Song Yi Ming...

Just remembering how he was yelling at Xiao Bo calling him disgusting names and was about to slap him if he didn't interfere made his blood boil again.

He tightened his fist, "Ma, I don't think it's the right time to meet the family."

"But, Chen-"

Mrs. Wang was cut off.

"Snowball gets panicked in the crowd and there are so many of them here today."

Mu Chen voiced out as he grabbed Xiao Bo's palm and intertwined their fingers.

Xiao Bo's nape turned cherry red,

>>>Why is he calling me with that nickname in front of his mother???

"We are leaving."

Mrs. Wang was frozen hearing her son call Xiao Bo with a nickname and even holding hands.

She was already trying not to remember how both of them were hugging each other on the bed and now this.

Her eyes sparkled differently seeing their PDA as if she wanted to see them more. Only a fujhoshi would be able to understand her excitement.

She cleared her throat quickly covering up her exuberant expression with an elegant lady-look that she practiced for all these years.

"I understand your concern, Chen Chen. But if you take him and leave like this your Grandpa will get furious. He is already aga- ahem! I mean a little upset,"

She paused looking at Xiao Bo, "...only a little."

Xiao Bo understood what she meant and also noticed how she considered his feelings. He felt warm.

"No, no means no. Let him get angry. I told him on the phone to behave- ahem! I mean to not get a little upset. You handle them, Ma. We will go."

Mu Chen pulled Xiao Bo to walk out of the room but the smaller tugged him back with his thin arm that had no strength at all.

But Mu Chen stopped nevertheless.

"What is it, Snowball?"

Xiao Bo's nape, earlobes, and a tiny part of his cheeks started turning crimson again at the mention of his nickname once more in front of Mrs. Wang.

"Um...I-I can meet them now," Xiao Bo stated.

Even though he was a little fearful by Mu Chen's side he thought he could manage it now.

"Really, Little Xiao. You are such a good kid," Mrs. Wang praised.

"Ma, stop it." Mu Chen glared at her and looked at Xiao Bo gently.

"Snowball, are you sure? If you are just saying it because of what Ma said, you don't have to. We can leave, nothing is more important than you, okay?"

Xiao Bo became all shy. He squeezed the elder's hand which he was holding,

"I can do it. You will be by my side, right?" Xiao Bo smiled at Mu Chen for the first time.

That was it Mu Chen lost it. He was just hoping that the smaller would trust him enough to smile at him and thought that it would take some time.

But seeing him smile at him even though it was just a little curl of Xiao Bo's lips, Mu Chen felt like the world around him stopped momentarily.

He cupped the small face of Xiao Bo with his warm veiny hand, smiling sheepishly.

"That's right, I will be by your side now and forever."

Mrs. Wang blinked her eyes seeing the both of them. She felt like she was eating too much of a dog food and even questioned her existence.

>>> Am I air?
