Confectionary Beelzebub

Chapter 5 – The Flames of Betrayal

The wind howled mercilessly through the dark streets as Emeka sat under the bridge, his thoughts spiraling into chaos. His mind burned with questions—none of which had answers. He couldn't shake the feeling of Kel's betrayal. The memories played in his head like a broken record, each one stinging more than the last.

"I trusted you," Emeka muttered under his breath, his hands clenched into fists.

He thought back to how it all started. Kel was more than just a friend; he was a brother, a partner in crime, someone Emeka thought would never turn against him.

But now, it seemed like the knife in his back had Kel's name written all over it.

The streets of Lagos were unforgiving, just like the people who roamed them. Emeka had learned that the hard way. His eyes scanned the shadows as he plotted his next move. He needed answers, and he needed them now. His heart told him to confront Kel, but his mind warned him that doing so would come at a price—possibly a deadly one.

Meanwhile, across town…

Kel leaned back on the sofa, a smug grin on his face. He played with the silver ring on his finger—a gift from Emeka years ago, a symbol of their bond. How ironic, he thought.

Chris and Max were seated nearby, their laughter filling the air. They had no idea what was really going on beneath the surface.

"Kel," Max said between chuckles, "you always seem to have everything under control. How do you do it?"

Kel smiled coldly. "It's simple. You just make sure you're always one step ahead."

He knew Emeka was out there, burning with rage. But Kel wasn't worried. He had always been the smarter one, the one who knew how to manipulate a situation in his favor.

Back under the bridge…

Emeka stood, his eyes glowing with determination. He had made his decision. He wasn't going to sit back and let Kel get away with this. His mind raced with thoughts of revenge—a bitter, cold revenge that would leave Kel begging for mercy.

"I gave you everything, Kel," Emeka whispered, his voice trembling with fury. "And now, I'll take everything back."

As he stepped into the night, the streets seemed to whisper promises of vengeance. Emeka was no longer the man he used to be. The betrayal had changed him, hardened him, and there was no turning back now.

Kel had declared war, whether he knew it or not. And Emeka was ready to fight.

Emeka made his way through the dimly lit streets, his mind a battlefield. But just as his thirst for vengeance reached its peak, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He hesitated for a moment before pulling it out.

The message was from an unknown number.

"You think Kel betrayed you? You're only seeing the surface. Meet me at Warehouse 14. Midnight. If you want the truth."

His heart skipped a beat. He read the message again, his eyes narrowing. This wasn't a coincidence. Someone was watching—someone who knew the truth he was desperately seeking.

Who could it be?

He glanced at the time. 11:45 PM. He had fifteen minutes. Without thinking twice, he slipped into the shadows, making his way toward the warehouse.

The Meeting at Warehouse 14

The warehouse stood like a ghost in the middle of nowhere, its windows shattered and walls covered in graffiti. Emeka approached cautiously, every muscle in his body tense.

"Hello?" he called out, his voice echoing in the empty space.

A figure stepped out of the shadows. It was Lily.

Emeka's jaw dropped. "Lily? What are you doing here?"

Her eyes were cold, calculating—nothing like the gentle girl he once knew.

"I'm here to tell you the truth, Emeka," she said, her voice steady. "You've been played from the very beginning."

Emeka took a step back, his mind spinning. "Played? By who?"

"By me," she said, a sinister smile forming on her lips. "And Kel was just a pawn in my game."

The Shocking Truth Unfolds

Lily explained everything. She had orchestrated the entire fallout between Emeka and Kel. She had fed Kel lies about Emeka betraying him, planting seeds of doubt and manipulating him to turn against his best friend. All the while, she pretended to be Emeka's biggest supporter.

"But… why?" Emeka asked, his voice barely a whisper.

"Because I needed you both out of the way," Lily said. "Chris and Max were only distractions. You and Kel were always the real threats to my plans. I couldn't let you two ruin everything I worked for."

"What plans?"

Lily smirked. "To control everything. This city. The people in it. And you were just in my way."

Emeka's hands trembled with rage. "You… used me? You destroyed my friendship with Kel for your own gain?"

Lily nodded. "And now that you know the truth, you have a choice: walk away and disappear, or face the consequences."

The Puppet Master Revealed

At that moment, the warehouse doors swung open, and Kel walked in, his face dark with fury.

"Lily, you've gone too far," Kel growled.

Emeka stared at him in disbelief. "You knew?"

Kel nodded slowly. "I found out recently, but I couldn't warn you. She was always watching. But it ends here, tonight."

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed through the warehouse. Men in dark suits surrounded them, weapons drawn.

"You didn't think it would be that easy, did you?" Lily said, laughing.

The Trap Closes

Emeka and Kel exchanged a glance. For the first time in months, they were on the same side again.

"Ready?" Kel asked, a faint smile on his lips.

Emeka nodded. "Let's end this."

The tension crackled in the air as the two former friends prepared to fight their way out of Lily's trap.

The battle had just begun.
