Ch-1.3 Hello

After Natalia got what she needed, she went through the front door, locked it, and walked towards her car. When she got inside, something rang inside her purse—it was her phone. Someone was calling her.

Natalia pulled out her phone to check who was calling her, but she had an intuition about who it might be.

———

10:54

Incoming call: Mitch

———

Natalia's intuition was right, it was her best friend Mitch calling.

Natalia answered the call, put it on loudspeaker, and placed it on top of the dashboard.

"Hello? Nat?" A voice coming from the phone.

Mitch's voice is soft and cheerful, which seems like a person you could easily be friends with.

"Yes it's me, I was just about to call you" Natalia responded as she buckled her seat belt and got ready to drive.

"Really? Anyways~ Remember the fliers we sent out two months ago?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

Natalia looked to the other seat beside her where a piece of fliers was sitting with her purse.

"Well, What about it is that someone has finally reached out to apply"

"Wait, r-really?" Natalia said in disbelief.

Natalia thought that no one was interested because it had already been two months. So she couldn't believe that someone was interested.

"Yeah she, is a university student where James goes"

"Wait Really!? Then she must be smart!" Natalia shouted, unintentionally making Mitch's eardrums ring through the phone.

Well who can blame her, it really is an unbelievable thing. The university where her son goes is a prestigious university with very, very high standards and high expectations towards their students. Natalia grinded her bones to dust just to get James to go to that university, to give him a bright future.

So why would a highly intellectual university student be interested in working as a daycare helper? So many questions running through Natalia's brain that she can't comprehend.

"She really is, Please don't shout," Mitch said enthusiastically.

"Oh, sorry," Natalia said, apologetically. "But Mitch, Isn't she a bit too overqualified to be a Daycare helper?" Natalia said, with a concerned voice.

"That is what is on my mind too, so get to the daycare quickly so we can know more about her"

"Alright, I'm coming right away"

Megan POV:

"Finally I'm here," I said to myself while staring at the sign that says "GOOD LITTLE BUMBLE BEE'S" attached at the window door of the building. The cute font with drawings of bees is making me puke just staring at it.

Two days ago, as I was scrolling through my phone, I happened to stumble upon a post looking for a helper for this place. After finding out that James's mother works here, I immediately sent out an application form. I just received the interview meeting today.

So, this is where James's mother is working. Heh, I hope this is worth it. I thought to myself.

For the record, I despise children. I hate them because they are noicey, disgusting little brats, and stupid little idiots. They cry over something so small. That is why I don't want to have children, they are just problems for me.

So why am I doing this? Simple, I want to take revenge on that incompetent bastard. I will show him why he shouldn't mess with someone like me. While I was lost in thought, someone sneaked up behind me unbeknownst to me.

"Heya~ you must be Megan? The person who applied to become a helper?". I was suddenly startled and my thoughts faded away when someone with a soft voice spoke directly on my left ear making me jump and stumble to the ground landing on my butt.

"Ouch~" I groaned, rubbing my ass from the fall.

"Oh my, I am very sorry. It was not my intention to startle you. My apologies" Said a person, her voice is soft and caring. She reached out her hand to help me stand up.

Argh! If that wasn't your "intention" then don't sneak up on someone! I thought to myself. Of course, I can't actually say that. I just sighed and raised my head to see who is this person.

Finally, seeing who she was, my irritation went away a little. The woman who just startled me seems to be a few years older than me. She must be 29. She has tan-colored hair, wearing a long-sleeved turtle neck and a long red skirt. I must admit she looks very cute.

I might ask her to go out for dinner for an apology—And maybe more. But that is not my goal here. I grabbed her hands and pulled for me to stand up.

"Before anything" Raising a brow, She bowed her head and clapped her hands together before saying "I apologize once again for scaring you"

What a peculiar person, she speaks too formally. "It is alright ateh, you didn't mean it," I said, still holding a small grudge.

"Ateh?" She said giggling. "Oh my, you flatter me~ I am 44 years old, turning 45 actually in two months,"

My jaw dropped. SHE IS WHAT NOW?! But she looks so young! No way she's 44 years old. This person in front of me was twice my age!? How can she be devoid of aging?

"You are kidding right?" I said, doubtful of what she said.

She giggled again "I get that reaction a lot but nope, I am not. I am telling the truth"

I can't believe it. She looks too young to be a 44-year-old woman. What is the secret to her beauty!?

"Oh, yeah I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Mitch Gregorio, and I run this daycare center with my best friend. I hope she has seen my message by now."

For the time being I left all questions on my head for later and introduced myself. "Hello my name is Megan Mandela and yes I was the applicant you asked to come" I replied

"Well it is nice to finally meet you, Miss Mandela"

"Likewise, but please, call me Megan"

"Alright, Meggy then. You must be standing here for a long time, come let us rest inside"

"Thank you"

After our introduction, I followed Mitch to the front door. After she unlocked it, we proceeded to go inside the lounge, The first thing that caught my eye was the number of drawings glued to the walls. There were ugly drawings of… well, they seemed like animals, but I couldn't identify what kind, as expected from children.

"The daycare is closed every Sunday, So It was perfect to hold the interview today," Mitch said as she opened the curtains. "Would you like something to eat while we wait for the other person?"

"Oh, you don't have to I already ate breakfast this morning" I responded.

"I see, then if you would excuse me I'll just make a quick call to see if they are on their way," She said, walking inside the employees-only room.

I sat down on the couch facing the big window out.

Well here we are, I'll finally get to meet James' mother, and when that happens, the plan starts.
