The Perfect Date

A few minutes later, the waitress came with the menu and, with one look at it, my hunger disappeared because I had no idea what to order, so many choices to pick from, plus the intense gaze Jason was giving me was making it harder to focus on the menu before me. He read my confused look and stretched out his hand to hold mine which was resting on the table, and said, “Allow me to order for you.” I replied with a nod and added with a disgusted expression, “But no seafood. They give me the creeps with their tentacles here and there.” He burst out laughing.

As we waited for the food, he said, “ what do you think about the view?” I replied smiling, “it’s perfect”, to which he smugly replied, “not as perfect as the one in front of me” and the blush crept to my cheeks because I knew he was talking about me and he enjoyed every minute of it. Was there anything that came out of this beautiful man’s mouth that was not endearing? When the food was brought, we dug in and, I must say, the food was excellent. We talked about our families. He was the second born in his family, with two siblings, the first a girl who was a model, and his last born brother, a dentist. His father was late and so he had to take over the family business as his siblings were not interested in it.

After the food, he took my hand and led me to dance with him, and as we swung to the beats of the music, I knew I was in the right place, the right time, and with the right person. It was getting chilly and he offered me his coat and asked me to take a walk with him by the beach, to which I agreed. I was engrossed in telling him about myself that I didn’t notice we had reached a palm tree and it was surrounded by candles and a tent under it. He entered the tent and asked me to wait outside and when he came out, he held a rose and a box. He stood before me and while looking at me intently he said, “I want to tell you something and I hope it doesn’t scare you away.” I nodded and he continued, “when I saw your application on my desk, I was intrigued by you that I stalked you on social media and when you came to the office, I fell in love with you. I know it sounds crazy but it is true. You are all I think about, all I want, and right now my biggest fear is that you might reject me and someone will take you from me. The decision is yours Zia if you will have me or not. Even if you reject me, I will still fight to have you. This here. It is a gift I have been meaning to give you. It is my mother’s necklace. She told me to give this to the woman I will love and I want you to have it.” He handed me the necklace. It was exquisite, one of a kind .

“ I don’t think I deserve it, Jason,” I replied.

“ You deserve it and much more. You are strong, intelligent, beautiful, and kind. You furrow your brow when confused, you are organized in everything you do. You have the sexiest sleepy eyes and many other good things I cannot mention right now without being horny. Who wouldn’t love you? Because I know I do. Please be my girlfriend.”

“Love is a strong word. Why don’t we start from the simple basics? I like you a lot “, I replied, and he looked at me with shock.

“ You are serious! You like me too. So will you be my girlfriend?” He was so happy that I did not want to disappoint him. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen to be his girlfriend? I nodded and he hugged me off the ground, whispering in my ear how I had made him the happiest man on earth and when he put me down, he put the necklace around my neck.

It was getting chilly by the minute, so we entered the tent. It was covered with blankets with a tablet and it felt cozy. He lay down after closing the door to the tent and, on instinct, I lay my head on his chest, we put on a movie on the tablet, and in no time, we slept off with the soothing smell of his cologne and warmth engulfing us. It was the perfect date; food, music and dance, a walk along the beach, a movie, and cuddles.

When we woke up, the sun was up and if we continued sleeping, we were going to get late for our meeting.
