Jason opened my door and when I got out of the car, his family was there on the terrace ready to greet us with happy smiles. His mother, Mrs. Maslow was the first to greet us. She hugged me first and said, “ Welcome home, my daughter. You can call me Jane or Mom.” Wow. I was amazed by her welcome. I hope that this wasn’t one of those times where the mother of your boyfriend pretended to love you and then back-stabbed or hated you later. But when I looked at her expression, she was genuine. I mumbled a simple thank you, and then she moved to hug her son and said, “ Now I know why you camped outside her house. She is worth keeping. Don’t mess up with her or I will kill you myself” Jason was embarrassed by his mother’s comment, so he replied whining, “But ma, I am your child. You can't kill me.” His statement earned us a serious laugh.
