Water Spells

The next day, Leus got up excitedly ...

'Time to learn Water Spells'

After he freshened up, he went to his desk

'Okay, I remember there were three spells'

'First, I'll learn the chants of all three spells, then I'll focus on silently casting them later'

He opened Arno's book and flipped the pages until he reached the Water chapter

(Water Magic:

Bubble: A simple water bubble that can be used to intercept fireballs, or to choke someone to death, though, that's only in theory.

Most people will either run or burst the bubble, scattering the water.

So, the idea of choking someone with a Bubble is practically impossible—unless they're tied up, immobilized, or already unconscious.

Still, using a Bubble is a much cleaner method to smother a target compared to burning them alive or skewering them with a spear.

Bubble is also very handy for smothering trapped Beasts; it helps preserve the bodies, keeping them intact for later use.

Note: This spell has some similarities to Fireball.

Hydraulic: An extremely pressurized bullet of water that may penetrate your opponent.

This spell is not common, which makes it even better against unaware opponents.

Unlike a massive spear or a blazing fireball, the water bullet is subtle—your opponent might not even notice it until it’s too late.

While Hydraulic can serve as a stealthy assassination tool, it’s tricky to master and may lack the power needed in certain situations.

Fluid-Smoother: An advanced water magic spell that lets you manipulate small amounts of water to make your movements smoother. You can also use it to trip up your opponent.

In essence, it acts as a lubrication system, reducing friction and boosting speed.

However, it’s incredibly difficult to master and requires significant experience to use effectively.

Even if you can’t apply it practically, learning the spell is useful on its own.

Note: This spell creates water with a thicker consistency than usual, DO NOT drink it.)

Leus was unsure about the last spell

'That spell is too complicated, I don't think I'll actually use it'

'I can use Boost to increase my speed instead, which is a lot simpler'

He quickly memorized the incantations of every spell. Which for some reason, never really took him long.

After he was done, he went outside to begin his training ...

'First, I'll start with Bubble'

Leus repeated Bubble's incantation ...

Immediately, a bubble of water the size of a fireball materialized.

Leus took note of what he felt

'It is indeed very similar to Fireball'

'The spell has the same faint control over its size and speed'

'Basically, it's a Water version of Fireball'

Leus also realized something

'As I and Mom expected, I do have an affinity for Water'

Just like Fire, he felt clarity, easiness, and lower Mana Consumption with Water spells ...

Because this spell was similar to Fireball, Leus learned it very quickly

'I'll just do as I did in the very beginning'

'I'll Learn all three spells at the same time instead of learning them one by one, then I'll focus on silent casting later'

Leus aimed Bubble at the ground and started chanting the next spell, Hydraulic

'Interesting, the only thing I can control about this spell is its speed'

Hydraulic was basically a water bullet

'There's not much to experiment with or learn here'

'I just have to find out the perfect speed for it'

Leus tried the spell a couple of times then moved on to the third spell, Fluid-Smoother.

'Fluid-Smoother? What kind of a name is that?'

'The first thing I need to do with this spell is change its name.'

'I'll first try it, then based on what it does, I'll give it an appropriate name'

Leus chanted the spell, and once again, he took note of everything he felt

' ... Complicated'

'This spell is extremely precise, it is a very pin-pointed stream of thick water'

Leus manipulated the stream of water in front of him ...

'Well ... as the book said, it'll probably reduce friction, but what would I do with it? Slide while running?'

Leus spent a couple of seconds thinking about a proper name for it, then he snapped his fingers

'Got it!'

'Splash'

'It's a splash of water, its new name will be Splash'

Because the spell was complicated, Leus decided that he'd use this spell exactly as it was with no alterations whatsoever.

'I also doubt that I'd ever use it, so there's no point in putting that much effort into it'

After roughly understanding the three spells, Leus began his serious training ...

'I'll completely master them'

He tirelessly practiced the three spells day and night, aiming for complete mastery.

Now that his Mana Pool was large enough, he was able to train all day without issues.

On top of that, his control over the Water element surpassed that of the Earth and Wind elements.

'Having an affinity for something really makes training a lot easier'

Impressively, it took Leus about 10 days to master all three spells.

The only use he found for Splash was to slide while running, but it wasn't really practical ...

'It's fun, but that's it'

Finally, after he was satisfied with his mastery over the spell, Leus decided to start silently casting them.

'The first step is to focus on the feeling the spells gave me, then learn to convert the Neutral Mana to Water mana'

'Well, that's gonna take a while, but I'm sure it won't be that long.'

And He was right about it!

It took him only 3 weeks to fully master converting Neutral Mana to Water Mana, even less time than it took him to transform it to Fire Mana ...

'Probably because my Mana Pool is now bigger than it was when I trained on Fire'

By now, Leus was 3 years and a little more than 3 months old ...

He was excited

'I'll definitely finish long before the deadline'

Aiming to finish faster, Leus began silently casting Bubble ...

'I already have the perfect size and speed in mind'

'I'll just make it exactly like my fireballs, skull-sized'

The spell was extremely simple, so it took him only a couple of days.

After finishing that, Leus began silently casting Hydraulic ...

And as soon as he started he realized

'Hydraulic is the most interesting spell I know of ...'
