Kaylar woke up the next morning with a splitting headache.
'Oh goodness' she exclaimed as she reached out to the side table in search of her phone.
She couldn't find her phone then she decided to slightly open her eyes.
She scanned the room before covering her face with the duvet.
'What am I doing in his room?' Kaylar was confused.
She planned on giving Wayne an earful but ended up in his bed.
With that thought Kaylar lifted the duvet off her body just to find herself dressed in an oversized shirt.
Kaylar was furious as she thought of the possible thing that transpired between herself and Wayne last night.
"You're awake?"
Wayne walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist.
He returned from his daily gym session a few minutes ago. His toned muscles were on full display.
"What do you think?" Kaylar replied as she got off the bed with an apoplectic expression. She then stood in front of Wayne while maintaining some distance.
"What did you do to me last night?" Kaylar questioned.
"You started it" Wayne's words were a bit ambiguous which made Kaylar panic.
"Why am I wearing your shirt?" Kaylar raised the sleeves of the shirt and asked.
"I had to get you cleaned up after you lost consciousness, '' Wayne replied as he picked up a nearby towel and dried his hair with it.
He was still baffled by his action last night, he didn't know why he cleaned Kaylar up instead of having a maid do it.
Maybe he felt remorseful for his actions last night.
He was mindless and indifferent to people he didn't care about.
"You cleaned me up!" Kaylar was shocked.
"Yeah," Wayne responded as he walked around her and headed towards the walk-in closet.
"He's so audacious," Kaylar mumbled under her breath. She wasn't having it with him at all.
After calming herself she entered her room and took a bath before getting dressed in a white satin faux silk blouse which was peered with a black pencil skirt.
She styled her hair into a bun then wore her heels and headed downstairs.
Kaylar was led into the dining room by a maid, she sat down two seats away from Wayne and started eating her breakfast quietly.
She acted oblivious to Wayne's presence.
Her actions seemed childish but she did not care a bit.
Wayne occasionally glanced at her and his lips would unawarely curl up each time.
Wayne finished his breakfast and said to Kaylar, "I'm heading to the company, do you want to come along?"
Kaylar's head was still buried in her food as she replied, "No thank you, I'll drive to the company"
"Okay then," Wayne said and left the dining room.
Kaylar made sure Wayne was completely gone before she left.
…
Kaylar got to the company as usual. She prepared Wayne's coffee, delivered the files that needed to be signed and went back to her office and continued her work.
It was one of the busiest days in the company. The Frenado corporation opened another branch in Country K and some professionals were being sent over there for work.
The transfer of workers from Country N to Country K was hectic, some teams were still under training.
And as such Kaylar had not had time to rest.
Wayne wasn't left out, he was out of the company to inspect a headquarters.
Kaylar hadn't seen him since afternoon and she felt grateful for that, she didn't know how she would face him.
Kaylar was reading a file when she heard Wayne's voice from the intercom. "Come to my office"
Kaylar took a deep breath to calm herself before making her way to his office.
Inside his office, Kaylar greeted him and tried her best to avoid making eye contact with Wayne.
This was the first time she had an argument with him and she didn't know what to do.
'Should I apologise?' She asked herself, 'But I didn't do anything wrong, I'll not apologise' ' She looked up with resolution and met Wayne's gaze.
After giving Kaylar some instructions Wayne dismissed her as if nothing had happened between them.
During the next four hours, Kaylar's eyes were glued to the computer screen as 'clicking' sounds could be heard in the room.
Delaying a single file would cause trouble for the other departments.
It was finally closing time.
Kaylar reclined into her chair with an exhausted sigh, she finally finished all her work for the day.
She packed her bag and sluggishly dragged her feet out of the office.
Coincidentally she met Wayne who was about to enter the elevator.
"Let's go home together," Wayne saw Kaylar heading towards the elevator and said when she came into the elevator.
Kaylar remained silent.
"I'm sorry," Wayne said after a while in a low voice.
"Pardon" Kaylar didn't expect that from Wayne so she asked for confirmation.
Wayne turned around and faced her "Kaylar, I am sorry."
"For what?" Kaylar decided to act dumb.
Wayne coughed a little and said, "Regarding the social gathering at NiteShift"
Wayne wasn't used to apologising to anyone.
His conscience kept on tugging at him throughout the day, he wasn't a bad person, to begin with.
He finally dropped the idea of tormenting Kaylar. It wasn't worth his peace to think of different ways to torment a person.
"Oh, that" Kaylar acted as if she just remembered.
"Yeah," Wayne stepped out of the elevator and walked towards the car.
Kaylar entered the car after he did and sat in contemplation. 'Am I ready to forgive such a jerk,?' Kaylar asked inwardly.
Wayne was still waiting for her response as he fiddled with his phone.
There was a certain feeling he felt when he was around Kaylar though he couldn't pinpoint the emotion he wasn't against it either.
He threw occasional glances at Kaylar but didn't say a word.
"Fine, I forgive you," Kaylar broke the silence. "I hope it won't happen again"
"Thank you," Wayne replied with relief.
Although Wayne was seen as ruthless and cold to the outside world his grandparents had instilled the right morals and values befitting of a gentleman.
"I have a question, please answer sincerely" Kaylar voiced out. "Did anything happen between us last night?"
Kaylar couldn't get that question out of her mind, she didn't feel anything different in her body but who knows?
So she asked to be sure, there was no harm in asking.
