Chapter 1

Knox was a designer by choice, it was her passion which became a career. she is and always has been an independent lady, growing up in the foster care system would do that to you and adding that to a stint in the secret service, you have a capable woman not afraid of hard work.

Growing up she was a jack of all trades, there was nothing she decided to learn that she didn't perfect to a tee, but the one weakness Knox had was looking good. Even when she barely had any clothes she always paired the little she had nicely and so the first chance she got, she went to the best fashion school that she could afford in Paris to study her passion and now looking at her, it all paid off.

Knox stood by the window of her high end office, it was all glass walls facing the city that could be frosted for privacy. Each time she stood by her windows it gave her feeling of being on top of the world and today felt just like that given that she was in a good mood due to her latest show which was just concluded was already raking in a goodly amount of money before it was over. She turned away from the window with a contented sigh and readied herself for home. "home" she liked the sound of it, having been in more foster homes than she had wanted, she bought the most sophisticated cottage that money could buy with state of the art everything from kitchen to bedroom and electronic out fittings for every inch of her home.

Calling her long time driver and friend to pick her up, she took the elevators down knowing he would be there waiting. Getting into her home and changing she decided a swim was just what she needed to wind down after which she would pop up at her beau's place for a nightcap and if persuaded a night out. She decided not to bother her driver because Michael lived on the outskirts of the city after misty cliff. She blew a breath as she came down the cliff and made the turn off to his estate. Misty cliff always gave her the creeps, maybe it was how high the road was and the sheer drop without guard rails or how no matter how hard you looked ,you could never see the bottom, she shuddered as she thought about it.

Arriving at his place she saw he had company as there was an unfamiliar car in his driveway. Thinking it was one if his partners she gave no thought to it as she let herself in, well she was in for a surprise as she walked into the living room to see with his ass bare plunging into her showstopper pf her just concluded show, she stood there gaping as the girl screamed, scrambling for her clothes before scurrying down the hall to the guest bathroom to change. Michael on the other hand stood there, his erection fast deflating muttering incoherent words.

Knox pov

The first thing that came to mind was how longit had been going on, I was angry and hurt sure but I felt mostly detached fromthe whole scene before me tending towards numb because I thought I could trust him, but now three years ofrelationship flushed down the drain . oh well it's over now because I won't beallowing him anywhere near me and I really don't think I want to know thedetails of what I had just seen. As for Cindy I guess I had to be professionalabout it, she had a contract after all.

This whole thing reminded me of my time in secret service , out there you could never vouch for anyone as even your so called partner could go rogue at anytime and this is one of them.

For his own part Michael tried to follow me until I had to remind him of his lack of clothes. Thanking God for my long legs as I folded all six feet of myself into my car and drove off. That wasn't the last I saw of him though.

The next three months he made a nuisance out of himself sending gifts and flowers everyday which were all returned and ended up barring himself from my company building, I just couldn't shake the guy off, he was well on his way to me getting a restraining order. Cindy for the better part avoided me when she could which was just fine by me. Following our break up news of his escapades came from friends and business associates alike, most had nothing good to say about him except for his rendezvous at parties, galas, shows & auctions. I began to remember the restroom and drink run, the colleague from the office he had to meet, how I had been so blinded I knew not, I feel really foolish about it all because I felt I was a better reader of people. I totally felt like shooting him after a good beating.

Well I didn't work , my way up here only to be beat down by a man. I just wanted someone to love me and me alone but so far it seems impossible. Knox had become a household name and business has never been better thanks to the extra publicity due to the break up, may be it was time to make some changes, relax a little , probably take a vacation.

This is a book of fiction.
