Chapter 7

Knox as a model has forgotten about being conscious of nudity and started undressing while Olivia was still in her room but soon regretted her impulsiveness when she asked where she got her lovely underthings from? But was saved from answering when she herself further asked if they were from paris? To which she gladly accepted that they were as she would soon be back to her time before they discovered if she were lying or not. She really needed to talk to George and soon because he was the only one she was sure would be crazy enough to believe her. After her toilette was completed, she made her way to the dinning room where she met no one but covered dishware and went ahead to make a plate for herself which she ate ravenously making a mental note to start jogging soon as the foods here were not being diet restrictive.

She was just finishing her breakfast when George was walking by and she quickly told him she would like a word with him in private. George led her to the study while wondering what their guest would wanto discuss in private for he knew they couldn't be seen alone together and in private as that could lead to their ruination and right then changed his mind to suggest a walk in the garden to which she readily agreed.

The first thing she said was brace yourself and launched into her story of how she was from the future in the year 2018, how she landed herself in their time and he wondered what the hell she was saying and if she should be committed. He couldn't even imagine the 1890s and definitely couldn't wrap his head around people in 2018. She must be mad, maybe a witch not that he knew what they looked like or she was speaking the truth which was even more scary and honestly crazy, she says she has proofs of all that she was saying. This he definitely had to see for himself so he could judge. He had nothing to loose at the end, he would have a good laugh. She asked that he wait for her at the library that she would join him there with her proofs.

She arrived some minutes after him with her backpack and emptied the contents on a table for him to see among the items where her laptop, phones, watch, aspirin, gum and lastly some clothes. George was amazed, he had never seen the likes of any such things in his time and had to loosen his cravat as he broke out in a sweat that she might actually be saying the truth if not how could he explain what was right in front of him. Knox took out her phone, thankful that there was still battery and brought it to show him the date and the first thing that jumped out at him was the year nearly giving him a heart attack as he was trying to comprehend just what she was saying. She showed him pictures of herself, Jennifer, a few males and even people moving in it. She called it videos which he had her play again and again as he had never seen such wonders.

George spent the whole day in the library going through the things she had shown him, both phone and laptop ran down due to his curiosity of wanting to know all about both devices. At some point Knox left him as she saw he was taken by her phone and laptop and it wasn't like he could proffer any immediate solution. She went for a walk in the garden brainstorming on how to get back to her time and if she would ever be able to get back to her time, she also thought it would be wise to go check on her ute. It had been five days and she wouldn't want anything to go missing. On getting back to the library, she found George holding a piece of gum which he opened and sniffed before he put it in his mouth as he had read what was written on the packet. He liked the flavour of cinnamon and mint, it really was like gum but he would rather chew it than use it like their regular gum. He pocketed the packet and looked up when she walked in asking how do you intend on going back? Also if you were to go back would you take me with you? To which she replied no, and he asked no? She answered what would your family do if you were to disappear without a trace? George thought for a minute and said mama would be fine besides she would have her hands full with my brother's children to think about me.

Knox didn't want to think about why she felt a pang hearing about Gerard having children with someone else, she couldn't loose focus and she wasn't here for this so instead replied George you don't know your mother. He brushed of her answer and said to her he would only help her if he was coming along, her time looked more fun and lively than his besides he wasn't the heir. She agreed and was glad she didn't promise him as then she would be bound to honor her word.

Olivia was planning a ball in a fortnight and was discussing the finer points with the cook and housekeeper in the drawing room when Knox passed by and she made a mental note to get appropriate wardrobe for her especially as some guests would be staying and lots of debutantes would be present. No need to make the chit a target for the spoilt ones and their manipulating mamas. On that note Gerard would have to be informed to provide funds for shopping. She was already excited for all the things they would buy, memories of her doing the same for her daughter's coming out ball.

Later at the noon meal, Olivia asked to see her when they were done that they needed to discuss some things. Gerard was curious to know what that was and asked if his presence was needed to which his mother replied just lady issues and no he wouldn't be needed making him all the more curious and decided he would question Knox later, he wouldn't have her upsetting or offending his mother.

Olivia later informed her that they were hosting a ball in a fortnight and if they were to expect her family i.e her parents to be precise and what other name she could be called as Knox sounded too masculine to which she answered Miranda. Knox thinking quickly fabricated the story of how she lost her parents on her way from paris and as a result was all alone. Olivia could tell there were holes in the horridly told tale but would rather not ask as she liked Knox and she seemed of good stock and that was enough for now. She decided to claim her as the daughter of a distant friend who lost her parents and was with her as her ward till her family came for her. Knox was quick to agree cementing her earlier thought that her story wasn't entirely true, she also told her they would be shopping for her wardrobe to which she nodded in relief that the interrogation was over.

Knox informed George she would like to go to her Ute and would like him to accompany her with a carriage to carry what she thought she might need. They set off after breakfast the next day to her over-turned Ute where Knox opened the carriage side to check her things.

George was slack jawed at all the things he saw but the one he was more interested in were the ones she called a car and motorbike. He wanted to see how it worked to which she replied she couldn't get the car out because of how it was fixed to hold it in place but the motorbike he would have to carry himself as she couldn't and wouldn't do it. On loosing it, it was heavier than it looked but rolled it out like she directed were Knox took over hiking her skirts up which had him look away to sit astride, she started the ignition and it roared to life making him step back, she rode a small distance then in circles before she rode back n cut the engine asking him if he wanted to try which he refused and replied seeing you was enough, he had no plans to die soon on that beast she called a bike. They packed her things into the carriage and headed back to the house. They got back to Gerard pacing the foyer awaiting their return, George directed a footman to take the carriage round back to bring her things to her room as she didn't wanto answer much questions. He asked to see both of them to which Knox wondered what she has done but George having an idea kept mute.
