It was such a night, a major culture shock to Knox's system. Despite the late night, she up and rearing to go by breakfast time. She kept recalling why she really wanted to be excused apart from her legs being sore it was mainly because some of the men whose unwanted attentions were rebuffed and refused to take no for an answer and it wouldn't do for her to floor anyone on her first dance, even Knox knew that she had to curb her temper or reaction as the case may be.
Downstairs Gerard came in from his morning ride to find the drawing room half filled with flowers and even more coming in all belonging to Knox requesting a ride to the park, opera or even the grounds of harversham. With a sneer on his face he went straight to his study wishing he had not seen those. He refused to admit he felt some sort of jealousy because even though he knew he wanted her, he couldn't marry her because she was too willful and her station didn't suit him so he just had to turn his attentions elsewhere for a wife.
His mother however was so excited as it had been ages since they had gentleman callers seeking a female in their home. She told the housekeeper to make sure there was a steady supply of tea and pastries while she went up to Knox's room to get her down to meet her guests. While she knew that many of them weren't worthy she also was glad for the reason to entertain as it gave her something to do as chaperone. Knox went along with Olivia properly attired of course to entertain her guests as she was told and got a shocker at the amount of flowers as it kept coming. She really didn't want all these as she was set on returning to her time but what could she do? She didn't want to offend her benefactor at the moment and thought it was little price to pay for her continued imposition in their household. She smiled and laughed and gave all appropriate facial reactions as this was familiar territory since she was a model and by late noon the last of their callers had gone howbeit not all were satisfied as she refused to go out with anyone.
As tired as she was she knew she still wanted to check out her crash site and find any clues as to how to return. And thus continued for the next two weeks without her finding anyway to return back to time. Due to this, she asked about texas and other locations but she couldn't get any concrete replies as these places weren't well travelled by anyone around.
Time as they say waits for no man and so two months passed with Knox giving up on her ever returning daily. She turned her attention over to other things like how to keep fit and make new designs as these things gave her a sense of normalcy and kept her from going insane due to her pressed reality. The first morning Knox had a run around the grounds she almost gave the butler an apoplexy as she was wearing a tanktop, leggings and running shoes. While these maybe normal to her, her busty bosom made it all the more inappropriate to be seen outside, the butler who wanted to try telling her to change couldn't get a word out as she was already outside running whichever direction she wanted. She gave the whole house a show as both maids, footmen and stable hand all came to watch her doing her yoga stretches and weird angles she bent into with the outline of her clothes living nothing to the imagination but even they could testify that she was a good runner as she was able to run a mile and longer given how long she ran round the grounds.
George and Gerard who went for a morning ride with Simon who was very friendly with the women rode in to the spectacle of the workers all standing about and watching what they knew not. Gerard dismounted immediately shouting to have his voice heard, what is going on here? He wondered what they were looking at and though he suspected it was Knox but wanted to see for himself. Sure enough he didn't have to wait long as Knox came running round the bend wearing God knows what but what in heaven's name was the chit wearing? He too almost had a heart attack seeing her bosom bouncing along with her, but couldn't help thinking how distracting his workers were and with that thought he strode towards her fuming and when he got close seized her hands dragging her unceremoniously to his study and even with the door closed his voice could be heard from the foyer. What the hell do you think you are doing? Going about and seducing my workers with such indecent clothes like the common whore that you are? I told you that i was watching and that you ought to be careful not to bring any sort of disgrace to my home and you refused to pay me any mind, do you mind explaining yourself? Knox who was still trying to catch her breath from her run, kept quiet while trying to calm herself from blowing up due to his words? He had the gall call her a whore all because she jogged? She has had it with his condescending and sanctimonious attitude, she knew his types always trying to make others feel worthless just so they can pat themselves on their backs. While processing this it appeared that she kept Gerard mute who then shook her from her stupor yelling at her to answer him, why she thought it was okay to parade her self naked before his household, if that was how cheap she was she should have gone to the whorehouses to peddle her wares. Blinking back to awareness she asked him what did you just say? Without giving him time to reply she punched him hard, to which he stumbled backwards and tried to punch him again he pushed her and she fell down just at the same time the door opened with George and Simon rushing in on hearing the commotion, not minding her audience Knox stood rushing and roundhouse kicked him which sent him into his desk and sliding off to the floor, when she saw he landed on the floor, she stood up straight and said to him, be thankful I do not have a gun right now. She turned to live seeing George and Simon with their mouths agape and yanked George on her way out and slammed the door forcefully.
Back in her room, she was packing her bags as she couldn't stay in this house anymore, she was fed up and so angry with him and didn't want to kill him if she thought anymore about it, she felt she would snap his neck. George who was a little bit scared didn't wanto do or say anything to anger her further as he knew first-hand what she was capable of. But still he stuttered out the words he wanted to ask wh - - where --re you going? She was going to a hotel or anywhere but here. She had been toying with an idea but this was the push she needed. You see Knox was always thinking of the next big thing and she had the makings of one in her mind's eye she just had to get settled first. She brought out a box which turned out to be a safe, she put in the combination and when it opened it was filled with jewelries; diamonds, emeralds, pearls. She brought half the content of the box and told George she needed them appraised also removing the top compartment she added two gold bars to it. George's eyes bulged and wondered just who exactly she was to have such things but he was more concerned about her decision to move out at the moment he knew a woman alone was looked down on and deemed unfit for marriage, he had to call his mother as he feared Gerard may have gone too far for him to remedy the situation. He told her he needed to get a pouch for her things.
He quickly went in search of his mother and told her what he knew happened and asked for a pouch to put some jewelry worth some goodly amount of money to which she wondered also how she came by them. In the study Gerard was rubbing his jaw and while still angry he was amazed at what she did to him, he least expected their conversation to go this way, he also realized she did warn him before not to talk to her that way, he should have listened. Simon however still couldn't get over what he saw, while he didn't know what happened he couldn't help howling in laughter at his friend as he told him, you my friend must have said something really horrible to have been dealt with seriously. I do not know who the chit is but i like her already and would have her, she's gonna be something else beneath the sheets. Gerard however was still angry and has made up his mind to put her out, even if he has spoken out of turn she was still in the wrong and would not tarnish his family's name and with that thought in mind he made his way upstairs to do just that.
Well he was in for a shocker as he met his mother trying to convince Knox who had changed thank God to stay in their home, he quickly made himself known and added it would be good if she left, his presence made her hasten her departure as George joined her in the carriage to the Briston's hotel to get her a room. Knox was watching the windows as the haversham house reduced by distance while Gerard stood by the foyer watching the coach disappear.
