Due to his higher level than the monsters that he went after, Clinton’s efficiency in regaining his health points was expectedly slow but he was not deterred by this fact.

The higher leveled he was from a monster, the less health points he could suck from killing it.

But this only motivated him to kill even faster with more ruthless intent.

Clinton went back to the world of light with only a fraction of his total crafted weapons. Though he carried the best of the best with him there, he still had a stockpile of weapons in his safehouses under a mound of sand.

After losing his best weapons, he now set his sight on the reserve.

Rushing to one of these safehouses, he armed himself with wooden spears and wooden daggers as he pounced on the monsters.

The monsters were supposed to be the hunters but at this specific moment in time, the hunters became the hunted.

The fact that he was on a time limit motivated Clinton even more.

After killing the first pack of Green Goblins that he met and regaining only +1.3 total health points due to their low levels, he set his sights on a bigger target that had much more health points to spare.

He set his eyes on a level 4 Stone Ogre.

Fighting against a Stone Ogre was still troublesome but as a level 5 undead skeleton now, Clinton was no longer that weakling of before.

His raw skeleton strength was still slightly inferior to the Stone Ogre’s, but his intelligence and his weapons more than made up for the difference.

Heck, the difference in their intelligence alone meant heaven and earth.

Clinton ambushed the level 4 Stone Ogre who was roaming the decaying forest alone and sent it on a straight pilgrimage to death.

Engaging this monster first with his deadly wooden daggers, he aimed at the vitals of the Stone Ogre, damaging its vulnerable 2 glowing red eyes even as the monster wailed loudly, suddenly blinded.

Blinded, it lost orientation of its surroundings and that was it.

Throwing the 2 wooden daggers to the side and rolling to dodge any follow-up attack, Clinton placed his hands on the wooden spears and then it started.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

He battered the Stone Ogre till the verge of death and at the last moment, with his sharp wooden knives, he completed the job, cutting the neck of the Ogre through a wound that his wooden spears already cut open.

The Stone Ogre immediately became stiff, then it collapsed in a heap.

Immediately after the Stone Ogre collapsed in a heap and died, Clinton felt more of his vitality returning to him.

He did not stop, he continued on his rampage.

Of course, due to confidentiality reasons to keep his abilities still hidden from the humans, Clinton left the vicinity close to the slope that led to the world of light as he hunted in other parts, away from the spying eyes of the humans.

While he hunted, the humans suited up.

In no time, 5 humans wore black suits with green lights snaking all over its body like veins. The suits covered all their body, including their legs, leaving no opening behind for the decay to seep in.

And with it, they finally stepped foot into the slope.

This time, exposed to the damp darkness and sinister energy of the decaying forest, they didn’t succumb to decay as the suit protected them.

This suit was their ticket to moving unhindered in the decaying forest.

Clinton may have decided to shift his hunting ground away from the direct prying eyes of the humans but he still made sure that his hunting ground was close enough for him to observe their actions.

Besides, in the darkness, he had extraordinarily keen sight.

Clinton saw them first in the darkness as they descended.

‘F*ck!’

‘I need to move faster!’

Abandoning his current hunting ground, he went deeper into the decaying forest to the more treacherous regions of this forest.

There, he hunted a pack of Undead Trees.

With it, his health points finally rose above the 5 HP mark.

After that, he hunted another level 4 Stone Ogre, ending the monster before finally getting to his peak state in terms of his health points by hunting a small pack of Green Goblins in the forest.

The take home point from his rampage as a vampire was the fact that through it all, little to none of his health points was spilled.

He was that experienced with fighting these monsters now.

Besides, by now, it was already more than 10 minutes since the humans descended into the decaying forest.

Despite their suits that covered all of their body, Clinton still recognized 2 of them from their body stature. They were the female mage and the lean human warrior with daggers who almost killed him during his expedition back to the world of light.

As for the hefty human that was built like a bodybuilder and could lift boulders with his bare hands, he was nowhere to be seen. The remaining 3 humans who formed this crew were newcomers.

He guessed that one of them was the one who previously exposed his body to the decaying energy of the forest.

One thing that delighted him from his observations was the lack of Holy Knights. ‘Probably, entering here is also lethal to them’.

‘That’s good’. He heaved a sigh of relief; he still couldn’t completely shrug off the pain that was inflicted on him from his first encounter with a Holy Knight.

Clinton also observed something with the forest.

‘They’re familiar with the forest’.

On arriving, the humans did not rush around the decaying forest in search of him. Instead, one of them brought out a device that looked like a lantern.

With it, they were able to avoid the roaming monsters in the decaying forest before the monsters could sight them.

‘What is that?’

‘Does it work like a radar?’

After 10 minutes, Clinton confirmed it. Apparently, the device had been booting since as all of a sudden, the humans started marching in his direction despite the fact that they still couldn’t see him yet.

It was like the lantern device finally honed in on his position.

Badump! Badump!

Clinton felt his heart beating faster immediately on seeing this but once again, his calma passive skill struck.

Calm, Clinton thought. ‘It’s not over yet’.

‘They’re powerful but I still have a chance of surviving’.

He looked down at his hand which now held 2 pure white bones. ‘I still have these’.

And then he looked into the distance. ‘Besides, this is my home territory’.

‘I have the home advantage’.

That moment, Clinton decided to do something that he never saw himself doing anytime soon before.

He decided to enter and hide in the lair of one of the level 5 Stone Ogres of this forest.

He didn’t just decide to hide.

While hiding, he would work out the physics to craft a weapon out of the 2 mythical materials on his hand.

Clinton was determined to survive.

‘Tooth or nail, I shall survive!’

‘For myself, and for all the people that I need to apologize to’.
