Prince Thane nodded, his expression serious. "I know I owe you an explanation, Camilla. And I'm willing to give it to you my lady." 


He took a deep breath before continuing. "I was investigating a plot to overthrow my father, the king. I had reason to believe that one of our own nobles was involved, and I needed to gather evidence to prove it." 


Camilla's eyes widened as she listened. "A plot to overthrow the king? Why didn't you tell me?" 


Prince Thane's expression turned grim. "I couldn't risk it, Camilla. I didn't know who I could trust, and I couldn't afford to let the plotters know that I was onto them." 


Camilla nodded, understanding. "And what about the attack on my kingdom? Was that part of the plot?" 


Prince Thane's face darkened. "Yes, it was. The plotters were trying to create tension between our kingdoms, to weaken our alliance and pave the way for their own takeover."
