Zeya paced the room, her fingers shaking as she dialed Amaya's number repeatedly, the sound of the rain outside mirroring her anxiety.

"Mom, please!" Zeya cried, her lips quivering, desperation flooding her voice. "Just stop it!"

Zeya's heart raced when she saw Seth's name flash on her screen. She hurriedly picked it up, breath hitching. "Uh, sorry Zeya, I was in practice. Did something happen?" Seth's voice was laced with concern, his brow furrowed deeply after repeated calls of Zeya in his phone.
