Chapter 332: Legacy of a Hero

Welt recalled that Pei Guang had never explicitly mentioned his origins. And although he had hinted at being unable to return to his homeland, no one had pressed him further.

But now? In just one day, Pei Guang had somehow become the Solar System's proprietor.

As Welt zoomed into the map, something else caught his attention: a marked entity labeled Doomsday Beast near Pei Guang's group. His expression grew darker as he stared at the details.

"How long has it been since they left? And they've already encountered a Doomsday Beast? On Earth, no less?" Welt whispered, incredulous.

Welt stood in silence for a moment before initiating a teleportation to Earth. However, upon arrival, he experienced an inexplicable sensation: instead of appearing directly beside Pei Guang, Welt noticed that he was engaged in combat with the Doomsday Beast.

Choosing a safer option, he teleported to where March 7th and Stelle were observing from a distance.

But what did he see? Kevin, of all people, piloting Aurumatons to pummel the Doomsday Beast. What kind of bizarre scene was this?!

Wait! Kevin???

Welt turned his gaze to the young man earnestly operating an Aurumaton. Alarmed by the sight, he instinctively removed his glasses, cleaned them with a cloth, and put them back on to make sure he wasn't hallucinating.

As he stared at Kevin, his expression grew as grim as if he had just seen a ghost.

March 7th noticed Welt's arrival and called out, "Hey, Uncle Yang! What are you doing here? Huh? Why are you staring at Kevin like that?"

"…"

Welt was at a loss for words. Now, he could confirm that this Earth was similar to his own but clearly not the same.

The Earth he once knew faced a threat called Honkai. Initially, he had assumed that the Aeons here might be akin to Honkai, but they were fundamentally different entities.

Yet, the shock of seeing Kevin—someone so familiar—on a completely foreign Earth left him reeling.

Wait, if Kevin exists here… does that mean Otto might as well?

Before he could delve further into his thoughts, the thunderous sounds of battle snapped him back to reality. He turned to see the chaotic skirmish in the distance: hundreds of Aurumatons clashing with the Doomsday Beast.

How could he describe the scene?

The battlefield was nothing short of lively chaos. The Doomsday Beast showcased its overwhelming strength, while the human forces, under Pei Guang's command, fought valiantly with their Aurumatons.

The Doomsday Beast's greatest advantage was its antimatter engine, but if the engine could be destroyed, the beast would be as helpless as a chick.

However, therein lay the problem—every attempt to penetrate its defenses resulted in failure. While it was easy enough to jab at the beast's vulnerable areas, it guarded its antimatter engine with unrelenting ferocity.

Welt took a deep breath. This wasn't the Earth he once knew, but it was still Earth. Images of Kevin, Elysia, and others—familiar faces that might one day emerge on this planet—flashed through his mind.

With a newfound resolve, Welt stepped toward the battlefield.

Pei Guang noticed Welt's arrival and greeted him with surprise. "Old Yang? You made it! So, how about taking charge of some units? Interested in a little command practice?"

Welt shook his head. "That won't be necessary. Allow me to lend the people of this planet a helping hand. Don't worry, I'll refrain from using powers beyond this world's technological capacity."

Pei Guang waved dismissively. "Who cares about restrictions? We're all on the same team here. Do whatever you want. This is just a beginner tutorial for a real-time strategy game. I'm already cheating, so limits are meaningless."

Welt nodded, his gaze fixed on the Doomsday Beast. Although he had encountered such monsters before, this one stirred memories of the formidable enemies he had faced in his youth.

Back then, he had been so powerless—each victory coming only after countless sacrifices and near-impossible odds.

As these memories resurfaced, Welt glanced back toward the base. The humans of this Earth were both cursed and blessed. They faced threats far more terrifying and merciless than Honkai. But, at the same time, they had encountered individuals who could utterly redefine their destiny.

In that moment, Welt recalled the words of that man from long ago.

"Welt… german word for the entire world?"

"That name… I love that name, what about you?"

"That's good…"

"From now on, you will bear this name."

"This core is yours… along the duty of protecting our world…"

"Your hero… begs you to accept this, Welt."

Scenes from the past flashed through Welt's mind, each one reigniting a sense of purpose. He silently thanked Pei Guang for this unexpected opportunity—a chance to once again protect Earth.

Though this Earth didn't face the Honkai but the Antimatter Legion, he felt compelled to wield his strength to help. At the very least, he didn't want to see tragedies repeat themselves here, in this version of his home.

"Heh… feels like I've found that weight again—the weight of power."

Welt removed his glasses and stepped forward, placing himself between the Doomsday Beast and the battling Aurumatons.

This galaxy could accommodate endless possibilities. Whatever the reason for his arrival in this solar system, Welt resolved to lend his strength as someone from another Earth.

At that moment, two massive mechs, bearing the name Arahato, materialized on the battlefield. Alongside them, drones once used by the Anti-Entropy faction emerged above the planet's surface.

If this were any other planet, Welt would have remained an observer, letting Pei Guang and his companions take charge of saving the world. But this was Earth.

Welt's mech units joined the fray. While the old Anti-Entropy machines couldn't defeat the Doomsday Beast alone, he had a secret weapon: consumables crafted by Pei Guang on the Xianzhou. These miraculous items fully restored his attributes, allowing him to summon reinforcements without restraint.

With this edge, Welt didn't intend to defeat the Doomsday Beast outright. His sole objective was to create openings for the Aurumatons controlled by Elysia and the soldiers of Fire Moth. As an Earthling himself, he wanted to actively participate in this battle.

He had to admit, Pei Guang's consumables were absurdly effective. But they were also dangerously addictive—not because they tasted great, but because the sensation of fighting at full power without limits was exhilarating.

For the first time, he experienced the sheer joy of having solid logistics and dependable allies. Yet even as he maneuvered his mechs with precision, he found his thoughts drifting toward something—or someone.

He stole a glance at Kevin amidst the crowd. Welt knew exactly what this man was capable of, and his immense potential. Once the Doomsday Beast was dealt with, he resolved to approach Kevin, offering guidance as a senior—no, as a mentor.

This chance to help shape Kevin's future alone made the entire trip to Earth worthwhile.

Meanwhile, Kevin, focused on maneuvering his Aurumaton to jab at the Doomsday Beast's arm, suddenly felt a strange chill run down his spine. It was as though some looming debt—a debt long overdue—was about to come knocking.
