"AHHHH!!"
As his consciousness returned to the living world, his experience before losing it made him let out a scream as he sat up in fright.
Ignoring his ragged breathing, Jiang Feng looked around at where he was now as the unfamiliar clothing of blue and white strips on him confused him. Turning towards the only mirror in this room full of whiteness, he realized he was in a hospital.
"Feng, are you okay?"
Turning to where the voice sounded, his eyes saw a group of teenagers around his age sitting beside him with a look of worry apparent on their face.
Recognizing the voice of the one that spoke, Jiang Feng looked at the man closest to him who also happened to have similar features to him.
The man had a physique comparable to a lifeguard, his arms tightly covered by his black T-shirt, a sharp contrast to his smooth white skin. Despite having glasses on, it didn't shade the beautiful black pupil similar to Jiang Feng's.
"What happened?"
Seeing that it was his group of friends, Jiang Feng released the tension he was feeling as he laid back down on the hospital bed, blocking the light from blinding his eyes with his arm.
Seeing him this energetic, if you can even say that, his friends let out a sigh of relief as their worry for his condition fully dissipated.
Turning to the girl sitting beside him, the man that spoke to Jiang Feng nodded at her before staring intensely with expectation. The girl nodded back at her boyfriend as she began explaining things to Jiang Feng.
"When we arrive at the entrance to that cave Jiang Yang talked about, we found you lying there in a puddle of blood with your clothes stained."
"Seeing you laying on the ground lifelessly, Mu Chen called the ambulance while Jiang Yang carried you back to the entrance of the cemetery while you continued to drip blood."
"Thankfully, the ambulance arrived quick and sent you to the hospital immediately when they saw the state you were in. But right as you were sent into the emergency room, the doctors came back out saying you weren't even injured!"
"You should have seen how stupefied they looked when they said that." The last man sitting next to the girl said sarcastically while chuckling.
Recovering just enough strength to move around, Jiang Feng sat back up while he reached for the pillow to be used as a cushion for his back. He then turned towards the other two beside Jiang Yang, who were staring daggers at him as they waited for his side of the story.
"I see. Thank you for doing this for me, Tang Hui, Mu Chen." Jiang Feng thanked the two as he lowered his head.
Seeing this, Jiang Yang widened his eyes and mouth agape as he stared at Jiang Feng.
"Eh? Why are you thanking them only? I was the one that carried you to the ambulance, you know?" Jiang Yang complained.
"Why, you ask? Isn't that expected from a cousin?" Jiang Feng replied to him as he put up a smug look.
Chuckling at the interaction between the two, the three immediately turned serious as they looked at Jiang Feng. Looking at the change of their expression, Jiang Feng knew they were going to start bombarding with questions.
Just as he was about to start telling him about his side of the story, the door to his room was slammed open as it startled everyone.
However, Jiang Feng was too bothered to even care as he stared at the two visitors that had just appeared.
"Feng! Are you fine? I came immediately when the hospital called. Where are you injured? Is it serious? Do you need to perform surgery?" Jiang Feng's mother asked.
Unable to answer all the questions while his mother constantly shook his body, Jiang Feng turned to his friends with a helpless look on his face. Understanding that it was his request for help, the three pretended to not see him as they looked away and faked whistling.
Sighing at the heartlessness of his friends, he turned towards his last ray of hope.
"Just hold on a second, honey. Feng's seems fine, so why don't we sit down and listened to what he has to say?"
Placing a hand on the shoulder of his wife, Jiang Feng's father stopped her actions, allowing her to realize how much of a contrast Jiang Feng currently was compared to how he was described over the call.
"You really are fine, right?"
"Yes, I am. In fact, I can even go for a jog right now."
Seeing how bright the smile of her son was, she was finally convinced that he was fine and agreed to sit down next to the bed.
"Oh, you're awake already I see. Let me conduct an examination on you just in case."
With the entrance of a doctor, the attention of everyone in the room was shifted to him as he approached the bed.
"Doctor Wang! What happened?"
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Jiang. Unfortunately, neither do I know. We only know that your son was seen to be on the verge of his death, but when he arrived the hospital, he was as healthy as he could be."
Moving towards the side of the bed while Jiang Feng's friends made way for him, Doctor Wang pulled up Jiang Feng's wrists as he checked the pulse in silence.
"Hmm, his pulse and breathing are normal too. The monitor reading says the same as well. If it weren't because I saw him bloodied when he came in, I would definitely doubt he was near death earlier."
"So, what happened to you?"
Being questioned by his cousin, the attention of everyone was immediately dragged back to Jiang Feng.
"Uhh…"
Feeling the burning stares on him as they awaited a reply. Jiang Feng's brain was spinning at its limit for an answer.
"Make up a lie first."
Hearing the feminine voice from the tomb sounding inside his head startled Jiang Feng, but he quickly followed its words as a fake story came up in his mind.
"Well…I felt bored waiting so I went in on myself. I then stumbled upon a pile of bodies with fresh blood flowing out from their bodies. Before I could understand what was happening, I blacked out and appeared here."
"Is that…so?"
Holding his chin as he lowered his head, Jiang Feng's father immediately went deep in thought. The others didn't know what to say, so they kept their silence.
"Although your words sound concerning, at least you're fine right now. I'll give you a full body check and if nothing's wrong, I'll discharge you and you guys can head home."
…
After Doctor Wang was done with his examination, Jiang Feng was allowed to leave as his dad sent him home.
Jiang Yang and the others called off the exploration after seeing the state Jiang Feng was in, which was supported by Jiang Feng's father. He planned on telling the others in the family as the patriarch of the Jiang Family, which made them realize the seriousness of the matter.
Well, none of this bothered Jiang Feng as he sat in the car with his thought faraway.
"We're home, Feng."
Being pulled back by his mother, Jiang Feng quickly got off the car as the three entered their home. Since there was nothing to do, he went back up to his room and shut himself inside. Seeing their son's escape, the two didn't say anything and only thought of it as him being tired.
However, the truth proved to be far off as Jiang Feng stood in the middle of his room looking around.
Once making sure everything was as it should be, he tried calling out to the feminine voice of the tomb.
"Are you there?"
"Miss my voice already?"
"Whoa, where are you?"
Surprised to actually hear a response in his head, Jiang Feng looked around himself as he tried to locate the owner of the voice, but it only resulted with a chuckle in response.
"Don't bother, I'm not in your room. In fact, I'm still in the tomb."
"Oh…Wait, how are talking to me then?"
"Have you only just thought of this after hearing my voice sounding inside your head so many times during the challenge?" the voice joked
"…yes."
"…"
Dumbfounded by the response of Jiang Feng, the voice didn't know how to respond as she maintained her silence. Not knowing what to say, Jiang Feng also did the same as an awkward silence formed between the two.
"A-anyways, it's about time we meet each other. Give me a moment." the voice said.
Feeling confused by what the voice said, Jiang Feng wanted to ask what it mean. However, before he could start talking, a blue glow shone in front of him out of nowhere as the temperature within his room dropped a few Celsius.
"Wha-"
Once again, the blue glow intensified as it threatened to prick Jiang Feng's eyes, causing him to cover them instinctively.
By the time the blue glow dimmed down, Jiang Feng was finally able to see again. Just when he was about to ask the voice about what happened, his eyes widened with his mouth agape as he stared at the foreign figure in his room.
"Okay, let's continue our conversation."
