Spending a little more time with his parents, Jiang Feng and Ling finally left the place as Uncle Chen drove them back to the hotel.
Having nothing to say, the two looked both ways while holding each other's hand, the other supporting their chins as they gazed out the window, admiring the passing scenery.
"You know, I heard what you said." Ling spoke, taking initiative to break the ice.
"About what?"
Jiang Feng replied nonchalantly, feigning ignorance at her words.
"The questions your dad asked you."
"You meant those? I had a feeling you were eavesdropping on us."
"It's not eavesdropping if its related to me."
"I don't think that's how it works."
Chuckling to himself, Jiang Feng turned away from the window as he lowered his head, eyelids falling shut.
Since Uncle Chen had raised the partition window, he was oblivious to the activities happening at the back, making Ling the only one to look at Jiang Feng's figure.
"Feng."
Ling called out again, with a tinge of nervousness hidden within her tone as her gaze fixated on him.
"What is it?"
"Your answer to the last question…the one about your feelings towards me, it is true, right?"
Jiang Feng paused before replying lazily, "Who knows? Maybe it's because of the relationship we had in my past life, or it could be that I just fell in love with you at first sight."
"…That's it?"
"That's it."
"…"
Turning away from Jiang Feng, a smile crept onto her lips as she whispered with a sense of warmth blooming in her heart.
"Then that's enough."
…
The night descended quickly as Jiang Feng helped Ling pack her things. It didn't take long for all of it to be packed up as they were sent to his room, while the couple had their dinner again with Jiang Feng's parents.
Of course, the enthusiasm they had left Ling feeling overwhelmed, while Jiang Feng was thrown aside and ignored.
"Okay, that would be the last."
Looking at his room that was filled with extra items and clothes, Jiang Feng turned to Ling who had already shoved herself into his bed, well, their bed now, as he gulped.
"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and get in bed with me." Ling gestured at him with unusual excitedness apparent in her voice.
Having changed out from her white dress, Ling was now wearing a pajamas given to her by Jiang Feng's mother as a gift. The pajamas was a mix of black and gray with a white bunny holding a carrot imprinted at its center.
Her hair was slightly wet, caused by a session of bathing, being loose and hanged in the air as Ling sat up and looked at him.
Her whole appearance was a contrast to the image she had in the morning, turning from a high school beauty to a childish wife waiting for her husband to come home.
Unable to resist her adoring charm, Jiang Feng began to have second thoughts about his decisions.
"Ah, that can't do. We'll be sleeping together from now on and that's final. No backsies." Saying so, Ling gotten off the bed as she dragged Jiang Feng onto it. Turning off the lights, Ling laid in his arms with her hands on his chest, her smile widening to its limits as she let out a satisfied hum.
"To celebrate our relationship as a couple being official, we'll sleep together for the night. So don't you dare try to cultivate, you hear me?" Ling said as she pouted, pinching Jiang Feng's chest as the pain made him hissed.
"G-got it." Jiang Feng replied, seemingly having surrendered to his fate.
…
After a peaceful night of sleep, the sun rose as its rays pierced through the window, prickling Jiang Feng awake as his eyes cracked open.
Groaning as he tried to make a flip, Jiang Feng realized that Ling was still sticking onto his body, Her breathing soft but deep, signifying that she was still asleep.
Not wanting to wake her up, Jiang Feng continued to laid in bed as his hands moved to shield her eyes instinctively. It was also then that he came to terms that they were now love partners to each other, a smile forming on his face as he enjoyed the moment.
However, that feeling soon disappeared as he realized Ling showed no signs of surfacing from her slumber despite having been awake for an hour. Boredom assaulted him as he stared at the ceiling, pondering about what to do.
'I should take the time to cultivate.' He thought.
Just as he was about to seize control to his flow of spiritual energy, a sharp pain jolted him as he looked down at the pair of fingers that were pinching his abs.
Tracing up the hands that did so, the emotionless eyes of Ling came into sight as she pouted.
"I said not to cultivate when sleeping with me, didn't I?" Ling complained with displeasure.
"I thought you were asleep so…" Jiang Feng replied as he tried to explain.
"No means no. Since you failed to oblige to this simple request, from now on, you cannot cultivate when we sleep."
"But-"
"Hmm?"
Shuddering at Ling's glare, Jiang Feng could only sigh inwardly as he shook his head.
"Nothing."
"Hmph!"
Puffing out her cheeks, Ling got off the bed as she left the room for a bath, leaving Jiang Feng behind as he could only retrieved his outstretched hand.
…
"Jiang Feng, Ling, you two finally came down."
In the dining room, Jiang Feng's mother beamed as she noticed the two of them approaching. Jiang Feng's father heard what she said and shifted his attention to his son, a knowing smirk appearing on his face.
"Good morning. You guys eaten already?"
Looking at how there was only a cup of tea in front of his parents, Jiang Feng came out with this conclusion as he and Ling sat down between the two.
"Yes. We wanted to wait for you two, but who knew you two would be this tired after a night together." Jiang Feng's mother replied as she teased, causing a reaction from Jiang Feng as he nearly choked on air.
"W-what do you mean?"
"Don't worry, there's no need to hide the fact from us. Your dad and I fully understand you." Jiang Feng's mother continued, taking the blush on Ling's face as an evidence for her guesses.
"Hold on a sec, I think you guys are misunderstanding something here. We haven't-"
"Oopsie, we have to go now. Have fun you two, and don't go overboard!"
"Just wait a sec!"
Without hesitation, Jiang Feng's mother dragged her husband out of the room as she left Jiang Feng standing at his seat. Ling couldn't stop laughing by his side as she looked at the beet-red face of his, resembling that of a tomato.
In the end, Jiang Feng could only wait to explain the situation to his parents the next time they meet as he sat down and enjoyed his breakfast.
…
Returning to their room as soon as their meals were finished, Ling jumped onto the bed and wrapped herself as always while Jiang Feng sat next to her on the edge.
"So, what would you like to do now?" Jiang Feng asked.
"How about going around the world to gain some experience for you? You've never met any other cultivation related stuff other than from my tomb, right?" After a moment of thought, Ling suggested.
"Doesn't that require a long time? School starts in a few weeks, I don't think we can do much with this little time." Jiang Feng shook his head, rejecting the proposal.
"School? Why don't you just quit it?"
"Huh? I can't do that. I haven't even finish university yet."
"University? What's that?" Ling inquired with a tilt of her head.
"It's something like an advance version of a school. They provide higher level of knowledge than the schools you know."
"Can't you learn them yourself? You're a cultivator already, these things should be easy tasks for you since our brains are improved and sharpened by the spiritual energy we absorbed."
"You say it like it's easy to memorize years' worth of knowledge…" Jiang Feng replied, lowering his head in dejection.
Looking at his reaction, Ling's interest was piqued as she turned to his table, where his textbooks were stacked upon each other.
Extending her hand while making a motion of grabbing, the books floated off the table as they flew towards her. Randomly taking one of them, Ling started flipping through pages within seconds, stunning Jiang Feng who was at her side.
"What are you doing?"
"Trying to see how hard is it to learn these 'advance knowledge'." Ling replied as she sat up, switching to another book in this process.
Sitting at her side, Jiang Feng remained silent and continued watching her, patiently waiting until she was done.
A single minute passed as the books were rearranged neatly on the table.
Ling had switched to sitting in a lotus position, seemingly in cultivation. When her eyes eased open, a look of fascination appeared on her face as she commented.
"Hmm, how peculiar these knowledge are…we cultivators never needed such things since spiritual energy was the only thing we researched about."
"You memorized all of the contents already?!" Jiang Feng exclaimed in shock.
"Yup, it would have been faster if I had prior understanding to these foreign terms."
Saying that with a look of glee on her face, Ling turned to Jiang Feng as she stared into his eyes, continuing with her words.
"Since I've already went through with what you had to learn from these books, I can now confidently say it will not take you more than 5 minutes to note down everything in these books. All you have to do is heighten your senses and focus."
"Even if you said so, I can't just…"
Seeing that Jiang Feng's still had doubts about her words, Ling brought a book from the table and passed it to him.
Receiving the book, Jiang Feng raised his head only to see the confident expression that Ling had. Realizing that what she had told him up to now, was true despite the absurdness, Jiang Feng gathered his trust in her once again as he flipped the book open.
Putting in his full attention, Jiang Feng's pupil began skimming through the words as the black lines disappeared in a fraction of a second.
Unexpectedly, he was able to read the whole page clearly and take note of all its contents in a single try, as if he was reading with the time slowed down and memory enhanced.
Soon, the book was flipped to the end as Jiang Feng assumed a lotus position just like what Ling did earlier, solidifying his memory about the contents of the book he had just read.
Reopening his eyes, excitement filled Jiang Feng's mind as he stood up and walked towards his table. Sitting down before it, Jiang Feng grabbed yet another book and began repeating the process. When all of the books on his table were read, he would go online for the textbooks that his seniors were using, finishing them with a little bit more of time used compared to the physical books he had.
Even so, it was all due to him waiting for the page to load.
By the time he finished memorizing all of the knowledge he could possibly learn from universities, only a mere 5 minutes have passed.
"Looks like I've underestimated your talents, to have read these books in only under a minute and spending four more to read online." Ling praised as she walked to his side.
Ignoring the stupefied look Jiang Feng had on his face, Ling turned to him and asked.
"So, are you able to quit school now?"
