Up and above the cities, amidst the skies, Jiang Feng was spinning around and flying through clouds like a kid as he experienced flight for the first time.
Ling flew ahead of him as she glanced at his childish behavior, chuckling to herself as she looked at the city below her.
"We're here." Ling said.
Hearing her words, Jiang Feng stopped twirling around and drifted to her side as he asked.
"Do we fly down now?"
"How much longer can you hold on?"
"A few more minutes wouldn't be a problem."
"Then we'll continue until we find somewhere away from the people in the city down below."
Saying that, the two continued flying in the skies for a period of time before landing in one of the alleys in the city.
As soon as their feet touched the ground, Jiang Feng let out a sigh of relief at his safe landing, lifting his head soon afterwards to stare at the fleeting sun.
Ever since leaving the Jiang Family's residency, the two had been flying non-stop towards northwest, taking a rest once in a while for Jiang Feng to recover his spiritual energy.
They could have arrived quicker if Ling gave Jiang Feng some of her spiritual energy, but Ling didn't want to do so since she wanted him to raise his mastery over his arts and spiritual energy reserves.
After flying for a few hours and crossing seas, they had finally arrived at where they were, the City Of Fitness.
Pulling a cab from the roadside, the two decided to find a place to stay for the night first.
Noticing that they had different looks compared to the locals, the driver recognized them as tourist and drove them to the nearest hotel that was only a few streets away.
Upon arrival, the two were greeted by a young male staff standing at the gate as he assisted them throughout the process of booking a room for a week, even guiding them to their room as he carried their luggage.
Once they've settled in, the staff left the room with two steaming cups of coffee placed on the table in front of the bed.
"Ahh~, how I missed this feeling. The comfort of these beds sure are heavenly, not that those at home isn't good, just that they have a different feeling."
Jumping onto the bed as soon as she got the chance to, Ling wrapped herself like a worm and began letting out a satisfied smile as her eyes formed a crescent.
Seeing how Ling began to laze around once there was a bed for her, Jiang Feng could only shook his head with a smile on his face as he went to inspect the room.
The room they booked included two bedrooms with a small living room for Ling to laze in whenever she was tired of sleeping. Opening the door to the balcony, Jiang Feng leaned forward on its railings as he admired the night city.
The building they were in had ten floors, with their room being on the eighth, so where Jiang Feng stood now was rather high.
However, knowing that falling to death won't happen to him in normal circumstances, Jiang Feng ignored the height and enjoyed the futuristic view before him, painted with bright neon colors paired with the dim street lights.
The skyscrapers in the distance with a few floors lit only seemed to add to the feel as serenity approached where he was, a breeze of wind passing by.
Having spent enough time admiring the foreign city, Jiang Feng went back in and sat next to Ling, who was now lying on the couch watching the TV like he expected her to do.
"When are we going to look for a tomb?"
While asking, Jiang Feng waved his hand as the cups of coffee in their room were brought out. Sipping the warmth the drink brought, Jiang Feng relaxed himself and laid on the couch.
"There's no need to do so, I've already located one outside the city, at the southeast direction." Receiving the cup Jiang Feng brought for her, Ling sat up and laid her head on his shoulder, surprising him with the sudden intimacy.
"That was quick. I guess we'll be heading for it next morning?" Jiang Feng asked again, trying to resist the charm that Ling was releasing as his face lit up with a light tinge of red.
"Yup, the difficulty should also be suitable for you. You're only half a step away from entering the Foundation Building Stage, after all."
"I wonder if I can breakthrough during our exploration in that tomb…"
"It's definitely possible. In fact, I would say it's already set in stone." Ling replied with confidence as a light smile rose on her face, triggering the same reaction in Jiang Feng as he grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers.
…
The night passed and came the start of a new day.
Jiang Feng's eyes slowly peeled open as the giggles of Ling reached into his ears, the face of hers being the first thing that he sees.
"Good morning, Feng. Was it a good sleep?" Ling asked with a smile, her hanging loose as the strands dropped on Jiang Feng's face.
"It was. More importantly, what are you doing?"
Sitting up as he put the pillow up against the headboard, Jiang Feng looked at Ling who just imitated his actions and was now sitting beside him.
"Nothing much. Have you decided on where to eat?"
"Hmm…I'll just call the receptionist to bring us breakfast."
"That works fine with me. If there's nothing else, I'll head into the bath first."
Saying that, Ling brought her face closer to Jiang Feng's. Without time to react, a pair of soft lips landed on Jiang Feng's cheeks as the warmth spread through his cold skin.
As if escaping, Ling's figure immediately gotten off the bed and entered the bathroom, leaving Jiang Feng alone blushing.
"Is this how it feels to have a girlfriend…" Muttering those words, Jiang Feng's head laid back as his eyes shut close again, submerging himself with the fleeting feeling of the lost touch.
…
Standing at the balcony after making sure there was no one around watching them, Jiang Feng and Ling used Spiritual Energy Manipulation once again as their figures soared into the sky.
"Follow me."
Saying that to Jiang Feng, Ling then began leading the way as their figures soon crossed the borders of the city, moving further inwards in the wilderness.
With her eyes always kept down to look for their destination, Ling's eyes glowed after flying in a straight line for more than 5 minutes.
"This is the place."
Landing behind Ling as they surveyed their surroundings, confusion arose within Jiang Feng.
Being in the wilderness, trees and grass were the only thing in sight. The fallen sticks on the ground crackled with each of his step, but there was nothing else.
"I believe now's the best time to try out one of the arts I taught you." Ling reminded with a smile as she stood at the side.
Nodding at her words, Jiang Feng stopped moving as his eyelids went shut.
A few seconds went by in silence as a thin wave of spiritual energy slowly spread with Jiang Feng as the center.
The wave stopped extending after 3 meters as a stable source of spiritual energy was provided to keep it there. Jiang Feng then shifted his attention away from his senses and onto the wave of spiritual energy, turning it into his new set of 'eyes'.
This was an art named 'Spiritual Senses', a Qi Entrance Stage art that all cultivators must learn, same goes for Spiritual Energy Manipulation. The art is used to detect matter or energy that can and cannot be seen to the naked eye. Despite its rather low rank compared to the other arts out in the cultivation world, it's effect remained useful to all cultivators at all levels as it made easier to look for clues.
Now, Jiang Feng was using it to look for the clues of the tomb they were going to explore.
"Found it."
Retracting the wave of spiritual energy back into his body, Jiang Feng walked a few steps to his right as he looked at the ground covered in dried leaves.
Sweeping the leaves away, the withered grass below it appeared before Jiang Feng.
However, Jiang Feng ignored it as he sucked in a deep breath, getting on one knee as his right fist was raised high.
Ling approached him from behind as she kept a certain distance, a bright smile on her face, seemingly to congratulate Jiang Feng's incoming success.
BOOM!
The ground shook as the birds on the nearby trees flew away, their peace disturbed by Jiang Feng's actions, but that was unimportant to him as his eyes fixed on the empty hole before him, where his fist landed.
"Looks like you used Spiritual Senses successfully. Although it's a waste of spiritual energy, you should keep it on throughout the exploration in case there's traps."
Saying that while she moved towards Jiang Feng's side, Ling looked down at the hole before her. The radius of the hole was about one-and-a-half meter, just enough for them to enter together. The depth of the hole seemed to be about 10 meters, with light being very dim down at the bottom.
Turning towards her lover, Ling tilted her head at him as she asked.
"Should we head down?"
Walking closer towards her, Jiang Feng's spiritual energy covered both of them as his hands hugged Ling's waist, sticking her onto him.
"Of course."
Taking a step forward, the two figures began to slowly fall as they floated in the air like a withered leaf. When their toes touched the rough floor, Jiang Feng let go of the hand hugging ling's waist as they moved forward, stopping before a tablet.
"What's this?"
Letting his curiosity take over, Jiang Feng swiped away the dust on the table as the words slowly became discernable.
"What does it read?" Ling asked, moving forward to have a look as well.
"Trial Tomb Of The Fallen Body Cultivator."
