Yvette sat in the cab with a heavy limbs and blank mind. The world outside the car seems so unreal and distant as if she was floating in a nightmare. One she badly wanted to escape from.
When she finally arrived home, she walked towards the estate door with slow, heavy steps. Even the few minutes walk that wasn't supposed to take much time took her almost half an hour.
She opened the door to the house, her body moving on autopilot, numb from the pain. But as soon as she stepped inside, she could feel something was off.
The lights were on though she could distinctly remember turning them off before she left, without thinking much about it she stepped in but stopped in her tracks as she heard a distinct voice which made her heart skip a beat.
Her eyes scanned the living room and then she heared it again. Footsteps. Pacing back and forth. Upstairs.
