Chapter 6: Death is Too Light a Punishment

The black-faced old man was unaware that the blood from Luo Li's heart had been fully returned to him, now reaching his own heart. He clutched his chest, tried to steady his breathing, and his black face turned a ghastly gray, even more unpleasant.

"I have to inform Tan! The yellow silk cloth has turned white. The situation is hopeless; I'm no match for him."

After thinking this, he turned around again, looking at the fading silk cloth with a face full of shifting emotions.

"Hello! Wang? Book two of the fastest tickets to Min Port for Lu Ming and me. Yes, get the transit documents now and make it quick."

Luo Li had lost the blood from his heart and suffered severe damage to his heart vessels. Exhausted and gasping for breath, he managed to use a bit of true qi. The cold, yin energy still lingered in his body, but he could suppress it. He would need to recover his heart vessels before addressing it further.

The vibrant aura faded, and the moonlight gently illuminated him.

As he stood up, his already frail body nearly gave out again.

Midnight had passed; it was already two o'clock. He needed to replenish his energy and remembered the few bites of braised duck he had left.

After tidying up, he left the vacant lot behind the dormitory building, where the "Nine Palaces and Trigrams Comprehensive Diagram" had long disappeared.

It was as if nothing had ever happened.

Returning to Teacher Liu's home, Liu was still in the kitchen, constantly boiling water, refilling and boiling again, not daring to relax, and didn't even notice when Luo Li entered.

"Do you have noodles? I'm so hungry."

"Yes, I'll cook them right away," Liu said, looking at Luo Li's pale face with concern. "Are you alright? Is everything resolved? You don't need to boil this water anymore, right? I'll put the noodles in the pot immediately."

"Be sure to use a different pot. The scale in this pot might poison me."

Seeing that Luo Li could still smile, Liu's tense nerves relaxed a bit. He looked at him with hopeful eyes, waiting for an answer.

"I'm fine, everything is resolved. As soon as I entered the house, I knew something was wrong because of my different constitution. I felt a chill all over, and there was an echo when I spoke. There's too much you don't understand; in short, everything will be fine from now on."

Liu sat by the table, quietly watching Luo Li eat the noodles, still not at ease. As an atheist and a teacher from the Great Qin, he had never had conflicts with others but had ended up with his family destroyed and even harmed people. It was all deeply ironic. Regardless of the unexplainable reasons, he knew one thing: this young man had truly saved him. He was his benefactor, and the only regret was meeting Luo Li too late.

"Luo Li, after you finish eating, rest well and stay here with me. Don't leave. I'll go to the funeral home tomorrow to collect my wife's ashes."

"Brother Liu, you're a real man. If you can pull yourself together, then my efforts weren't in vain. Alright, I'll stay at your place for now." Luo Li thought to himself that at least he had a place to stay and his efforts hadn't been in vain.

Years later, when Luo Li no longer appeared in Changping, Liu Tianming, Teacher Liu, still couldn't forget that night he shared with him. His wife, whom he had known since middle school, had suffered such a tragic fate. He tried hard to find the reason, hoping to warm his wife's heart again. But just when their daughter, Juan Juan, was about to start school, his wife chose to elope with a stranger and took their daughter with her. The ferry had an accident, and both fell into the river. By the time he arrived, they had been pulled out, but the mother and daughter were already lifeless.
