4. Monkey's Gotta Try

Supergirl finally manages to take care of all the mercenaries outside. KGBeast was especially hard to deal with since he didn't much care about the destruction he caused in his wake. At least, the other mercenaries had the decency to let the civilians run away before they started wreaking havoc. She helps the people caught up in the fight and clears a way for the coming cops and ambulances. She then taps on her earpiece. 'All clear here, guys. How are things on your end'.

When she hears no response, Supergirl scans the building with her x-ray vision and sees her friends lying on the floor. Supergirl quickly flies towards them, breaking through a window to get inside. She kneels next to Batgirl and checks her heartbeat before doing the same to Nightwing and Red Arrow.

Then next to her Nightwing tries to sit up but to no avail. 'Who did this?' she asks with a growl.

'The Meta Killer. He has Louis', he answers through bated breath.

Supergirl carries her friends and takes them to the ambulance below before scanning his surroundings for Louis and the man who took her.

'There'. Supergirl flies to an alleyway and throws herself at the Meta Killer. The assassin drops the reporter as he get thrown through a wall. She manages to catch Louis who was gagged and tied up on her wrist and ankles.

Supergirl rips out the gag. 'Are you alright?' she asks her friend who nods. The hero tears the ropes binding Louis. Then the two hear bricks shifting as the assassin slowly makes his way out of the hole. 'Go get em, Supergirl', says Louis with a smile. The hero nods back before letting her friend run for cover.

'You know you can't beat me, right?' says Supergirl, now facing off against the villain.

The Meta Killer spits some blood before pulling a knife from the weird thing on his back. 'Well, us monkeys have to try', says the man.

The assassin strikes but she easily dodges the attacks. He's stronger than an average human, she notes as she blocks a punch, feeling herself buckle at the impact. The man continues with a flurry of strikes. Getting tired of it, Supergirl lets the knife hit her. It stops before it could even pierce her skin, making the man's eyes grow wide. She then grabs the knife from his hand and easily breaks it. The Meta Killer punches her but she quickly grabs him and throws him oh the streets, making crash and tumble .

'It's over. You don't stand a chance. Don't make it worse for yourself', she says as she hovers towards him.

Then the man stands up. Blood drips from his forehead and he had a dislocated shoulder which he quickly rearranges with a quick twist. He looks at his broken blade and shrugs as he drops the thing and pulls out a a weapon that Supergirl has only ever seen in kung fu movies.

Toji didn't expect things to go this far. He was only supposed to take care of Louis Lane. Sensing his body, he can feel two broken ribs and some damage to his left arm. The plan was to sneak in and leave before anyone could even notice. He didn't expect to have to fight three 2nd grade fighters and a special grade. Is the money even worth this much trouble, he thinks before finally pulling out his Playful Cloud.

He sees the blondie tense up after seeing the weapon. 'This is such a hassle', he says. He then begins twirling the weapon around him.

The girl raises her arms in a stance. Toji pounces on her, letting the momentum built up in the weapon fly towards the hero. The hero tries to catch it, but at the last moment, the weapon swerves and lands on her torso. Supergirl crashes to the ground but Toji wasn't done yet. He leaps over her and swings the weapon again. The girl, having learned her lesson, pushes herself to the side. Playful Cloud lands on the road, breaking it and throwing rubble everywhere.

The hero looks at him, assessing his weapon now that she knows what he can do with it. 'So, tell me, girl. Still think, I don't stand a chance'.

Supergirl huffs and dashes towards Toji. She throws a punch that the man is able to block it with his weapon. Still, it was too powerful and it throws him a few meters. Toji nimbly lands on his feet only to find the woman already in front of him, ready to throw another punch.

Toji leans to the side and her fist only manages to graze his cheek. He swings his weapon and the girl tries to move away from the attack. However, she was only able to raise her arms to block it. The blow was powerful enough to throw the girl into a building.

Toji pulls out the gun next. He walks towards the girl barely holding on to her consciousness. He aims the gun at her head, ready to shoot her, when someone grabs on to his arm.

'Stop it', screams Louis Lane.

He throws her to the side and aims his gun again. This time , the reporter puts herself between him and the hero. 'If you wanna get to her, you'll have to kill me first', says the woman with a quivering voice.

Toji just looks at her and sighs. This is such a drag, he thinks to himself. He knocks the reporter out before looking at the hero. 'You're pretty lucky to have people care about you', he tells the hero before she finally falls unconscious.

Toji carries the reporter over her shoulders and walks away.
