Chapter 295: Caught in the Act

**Golden Sun Sets in the West, Jade Rabbit Rises in the East.**

The day flew by in a blur of activity.

That night, Xia Yu didn't return home but instead went to his cozy little nest with Li Xi.

While Xia Yu was getting cozy with Li Xi, his sister, Xia Mei, was on the phone with He Chaoqiong, who was far away in Macau.

"...I don't know where my big brother went. He's not coming home tonight. Chaoqiong, is there anything you want me to tell him? I can pass on a message for you..."

"Oh, okay. Chaoqiong, make sure to come over tomorrow. I'll be waiting for you at home... Hmm, see you then!"

Xia Mei hung up the phone, her small face creased in a frown as she muttered, "I wonder where my big brother could have gone. This is the second night he's not coming home. I hope Chaoqiong can find him tomorrow when she comes over."

Meanwhile, in the He family's grand mansion in Macau, He Chaoqiong also put down the phone next to her bed. She had insisted on having the phone installed in her room for reasons that were obvious.

"Where could Xia Yu be, not home again tonight?"

He Chaoqiong moved gently to the balcony, gazing at the pitch-black sky and the myriad of stars, lost in thought.

For some reason, a sense of unease lingered in her heart. She pondered deeply, her mind drifting back to a month ago when she had seen Li Xi's charming figure at the airport.

"It shouldn't be, Xia Yu likes me…"

He Chaoqiong murmured, her voice initially firm but gradually weakening, as if her confidence was fading.

As her sense of crisis grew stronger, a look of panic appeared on her delicate face.

"It can't be, I believe in Xia Yu!"

He Chaoqiong's hand unconsciously went to her chest, clutching a white jade pendant tightly. The smooth, warm feel of the pendant calmed her nervous heart, giving her an unparalleled courage.

Every day, just thinking about Xia Yu would make her unconsciously caress this cherished pendant. It seemed like Xia Yu's sunny and handsome face would appear before her eyes.

Under such constant longing, Xia Yu's figure had subtly left an indelible mark in her heart, something even He Chaoqiong herself had not noticed, or rather, a girl of her age could hardly notice.

After enjoying the night breeze on the balcony and listening to the chirping of insects, He Chaoqiong returned indoors and went to bed early.

She planned to get some rest tonight because she would go to Kowloon to see Xia Yu tomorrow! Since Xia Yu didn't know she was coming, it would be a pleasant surprise for him if she suddenly appeared!

With this hopeful thought, He Chaoqiong smiled as she lay in bed, her right hand resting on the jade pendant on her chest, and she sweetly drifted off to sleep.

The next day, after Xia Yu finished his boxing session, he saw Li Xi coming out with a steaming breakfast in her hands.

"Darling, sit down. It's just finished."

Seeing Xia Yu enter, Li Xi greeted him with a sweet smile and said softly.

"Let me see what's cooking."

Xia Yu's face lit up with anticipation as he approached the table, a tempting aroma wafting up. He couldn't help but take a deep breath.

"It smells great!"

"It's seafood porridge. You mentioned before that you've always liked the seafood porridge Auntie made for you when you were little, so I made some. I'm not very good at cooking, so I'm not sure if it will taste good," Li Xi said with a smile.

Hearing this, Xia Yu couldn't help but smile. He didn't remember telling Li Xi about this, but she had remembered and even got up early to make it for him.

Xia Yu could clearly feel the affection in this gesture.

Although he and Li Xi had not been together long, they had become quite close. Xia Yu knew that Li Xi was a very simple person, pure-hearted, gentle in nature, and gave a comforting feeling like a neighbor's older sister.

Women like Li Xi are not suited for being in the limelight or becoming businesswomen. However, as a virtuous wife and mother, taking care of household matters, Li Xi was perfect. She could soothe her husband's weary soul after a long day, allowing him to relax completely.

In such a short time, Xia Yu had become somewhat dependent on her. He seemed to understand a bit of the meaning behind Bai Juyi's line, "Since then, the king no longer holds early morning court."

"Here, try it."

Li Xi served a bowl and handed it to Xia Yu.

"Mm, delicious!" Xia Yu took a spoonful and praised.

Li Xi's face lit up with joy upon hearing this, her happiness clearly visible.

After enjoying a pleasant breakfast, Xia Yu tidied up and checked his watch. He then asked Li Xi, "Xi Xi, it's Saturday. Are you going to the office or resting at home today?"

Xia Yu's company needed to operate every day, so he implemented a shift system. Half the staff had to be on duty on Saturdays and Sundays.

As the boss, he didn't technically need to go in, but since he had nothing else to do, he preferred to get some work done, so he also went to the office on Saturdays.

"I'll go with you."

Li Xi decided without hesitation. She didn't know what to do at home and thought it would be better to stay at the office with Xia Yu, feeling more at ease.

"Then let's go!"

Xia Yu and Li Xi left together. Li Wu Ming and others were already waiting in the car outside. Once they got in, the car started and headed towards Jiuding Press.

When the car stopped at the company's entrance, it was immediately spotted.

In a small shop not far from the company, He Chaoqiong had been waiting eagerly, her gaze fixed on the Jiuding Press.

He Chaoqiong had not entered Jiuding Press to find Xia Yu because she didn't see his car parked below, indicating he wasn't there.

Of course, if she had waited a long time without seeing Xia Yu, she would have chosen to go in and have someone find him.

Fortunately, her patience paid off as she finally saw Xia Yu's car.

He Chaoqiong happily stood up, intending to run towards Xia Yu's car.

But as she took a step forward, her pace suddenly halted, her smile freezing, her gaze fixed in disbelief at a particular direction.

Following He Chaoqiong's line of sight, Xia Yu and Li Xi emerged from the car, with Xia Yu smiling and holding Li Xi's hand. One of his hands rested on the top of the car door, seemingly to protect Li Xi from bumping.

What hurt He Chaoqiong the most was the look of affection and admiration displayed by Xia Yu and Li Xi.

From He Chaoqiong's perspective, the care and affection were clearly genuine. It was the same expression she had seen on Xia Yu's face when they were together.

Such genuine love could not be hidden!

"How could this happen, it can't be… it can't…"

He Chaoqiong's eyes instantly filled with tears, unable to accept what she saw as she mumbled to herself.

She wanted to run over and ask for clarification several times but found herself unable to move.

Even though a month ago, He Chaoqiong had said in front of her brother that she didn't care if Xia Yu had other women, when it actually happened, how could she, a young girl, not care?

It was clear that she had known Xia Yu first, but after being apart for nearly a month, things had turned out this way. The heartache and grievance were feelings that only someone in her position could truly understand.

"Miss, are you alright?"

The bodyguard beside He Chaoqiong asked with concern.

"Wuwu…"

The bodyguard's question made He Chaoqiong burst into tears. She couldn't help but crouch down, hugging her head and crying uncontrollably. Her despair was palpable, and the bodyguard's expression softened in response.

Xia Yu was unaware of what was happening. He was entering the company with Li Xi.

If he had turned around, he might have seen He Chaoqiong.

But unfortunately, ifs are always just that—ifs. What was meant to come would always come…
