The car sped along and soon arrived in front of the Kessick family's mansion. The security guard quickly opened the gate to let Charles Kessick's car through.
"Father, there's been an incident!"
As soon as the car reached the entrance, Charles Kessick quickly opened the car door, ran to the living room, and saw his father, Old John, sitting on the sofa. Charles Kessick, feeling he had found a strong support, ran and shouted.
Old John furrowed his brow and reprimanded, "Charles, calm down!"
The rebuke from his father startled Charles Kessick. He took a few deep breaths to steady himself, but the urgency of the situation quickly showed on his face again.
"Father, that damn Chinese kid helped Bao Yugang take over the Air Cargo Station company, and now he's trying to take our insurance company. He's already acquired 53.7% of the insurance company's shares and is calling for a board meeting. What should we do?"
Charles Kessick said anxiously, his voice tinged with sorrow and anger, clearly pained by the loss of companies he was associated with.
"Alright, I'm already aware!"
Old John's face was as cold as ice as he spoke.
Charles Kessick was taken aback and blurted out, "You know?"
Old John nodded slightly and explained, "Niu Bujian called me just now."
Niu Bujian was a key figure in the Yi He Group, which owned the Yi He Insurance Advisory Group. It was only natural for Niu Bujian to report to Old John as soon as he received the news.
Since his father already knew, Charles Kessick skipped further explanations and focused on figuring out how to respond.
"Father, what should we do? That Chinese kid is about to hold the board meeting, and time is running out."
Charles Kessick asked urgently.
"What's the use of being anxious now? It's already too late!"
Old John spoke in a low, grave tone, seemingly not in a hurry, but his voice carried a hint of stiffness, betraying his own inner turmoil.
Indeed, it was always Yi He taking over other companies, and now, unexpectedly, they had lost two companies in a single day, both without any resistance. The second company, the insurance company, had not even had a chance to struggle. It was impossible for Old John to be calm about this.
"Too late? Yes... late..."
Hearing his father's words, Charles Kessick felt as if all his strength had drained away. He slumped onto the sofa, holding his head in despair, unwilling to face the reality.
Deep down, he had known this might be the outcome when he arrived, but he still hoped that his great father might have a solution.
Unfortunately, his father was just an ordinary person and could offer no solutions to this result, which was a harsh reality check for him.
With 53.7% of the shares, it was absolute control. As long as Xia Yu didn't let go, no one could do anything.
Yi He Insurance Advisory Group was bound to change ownership, and there was no point in holding onto any illusions!
"Alright, pull yourself together. Learn to face reality. Don't let difficulties easily defeat you!"
Seeing Charles Kessick's fragile state, Old John understood the cause was the competition for inheritance rights. While he understood, he was not satisfied with Charles's performance and lectured him.
Charles Kessick rallied his spirits but still had a complex expression.
"How about the Air Cargo company?"
Old John asked.
"Bao Yugang took Barton's chairman position, assumed the role of chairman himself, and took over financial and personnel control. He even wanted to buy our shares, but I refused."
Charles Kessick said hoarsely, his frustration increasing.
"For now, maintain the status quo. Whether to sell the shares can be discussed later. Stay in there for now."
Old John thought for a moment and then spoke slowly. For now, it was best to keep a low profile and wait for a chance. As long as the shares were retained, there was still a chance to strike back.
"Understood, Father!"
Charles Kessick responded.
"As for the insurance company's meeting later…"
Old John hesitated, and Charles Kessick listened attentively, waiting for his instructions.
"No need to go. It won't make any difference!"
When Old John said this, Charles Kessick felt an inexplicable sense of relief.
In fact, he didn't want to attend either. Going would just be witnessing Xia Yu's display of power and would only be more humiliating than the Air Cargo Station's meeting.
Charles Kessick had already suffered a blow and was reluctant to endure another.
Moreover, most importantly, attending would be futile. It wouldn't change the outcome. The loss of control, the cleaning of personnel, and the eventual delisting of the company were all inevitable. Whether a meeting was held or not made no difference.
With Xia Yu holding 53.7% of the shares and the Kessick family holding 30%, and another major shareholder holding 10%, public floating shares were already well below the 10% threshold required for a listed company. It no longer met the requirements for listing.
Even if they did not voluntarily apply for delisting, they would be warned by the securities regulatory commission to either release shares to ensure public floating stock reaches 10% or face forced delisting.
The former was impossible. Neither Xia Yu nor they would release shares, and the other major shareholder was unlikely to sell theirs, otherwise, Xia Yu would have acquired them long ago. Thus, the result was inevitable: delisting was unstoppable.
But even if the company was delisted, Charles Kessick had resolved that he would not let his father sell the 30% shares to Xia Yu.
"Charles, I have a task for you. Coordinate with Niu Bujian to compile a list of all our listed companies' shares and investigate their trading activity over the past month."
Old John's gaze grew deep as he instructed his second son, Charles Kessick.
Charles Kessick understood his father's intentions and was startled. He quickly responded, "Yes, Father! I'll get on it immediately!"
First, there was the Yi He Air Cargo Station incident, followed by the Yi He Insurance Advisory Group issue. Both were orchestrated by Jiuding Securities Company and Galaxy Fund. It was possible that they might target a third or even fourth company.
To avoid being caught unprepared like now, losing the ability to retaliate, the best approach was to investigate thoroughly, detect potential dangers, and increase shareholding to nip the threats in the bud.
"Go ahead and find out as soon as possible!"
Old John instructed.
