Chapter 9: Deliver Food To Him

Yue Ning sucked in a deep breath, and the system scoffed at her carelessness.

'I told you to watch out, but you have gained a cut on your finger,' the system chastised her, as a mother would.

"Are you worried for my sake?" Yue Ning asked with a teasing smile, but the system did not reply.

She sighed before turning to look at the 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑑𝑒𝑟 who had caused her to gain a cut on her finger.

"Yes, I am your brother's wife," she answered with a smile on her face.

The 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑑𝑒𝑟 walked to her having an inquisitive look on her face.

She circled her, as though she was checking her out, 𝑖𝑛 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑓𝑎𝑐𝑡, 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑠!

"Not bad, you are better than Yue Chen, sister-in-law, do you know me?" The girl asked with a smile on her face, enthusiasm over her face.

Yue Ning was caught off guard by the enthusiasm she displayed, and for a moment, she was at a loss for words, she had nothing to say.

"Come on, surely, you have heard of me," the girl asked again, with more enthusiasm.

Yue Ning coughed slightly, of course, she could not forget the girl who had faced a tragic end in the novel, and this was at the hands of her 𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑠𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟.

"I know you, you are such a sweet girl, no one will be foolish enough to not know who you are," Yue Ning recalled from the novel that this little lady loved flattery, so she flattered her.

She also recalled that it was only this little sister who stood up for ℎ𝑒𝑟 in the novel. They both had a good relationship.

"Is that so?" She asked with a coy smile as she played with a strand of her hair.

"If you know me, then what is my name?" The girl asked with an expectant smile, you could not blame her, after all, she was just eighteen years.

Yue Ning smiled, she was unable to forget the name of the character who caught her eye, apart from the second male lead.

"Huo Yan, your name is Huo Yan, as in blaze flame, it firmly represents your fiery attitude," Yue Ning said to her, and a smile blossomed on her face.

She clapped her hands happily, "you are the first one who knew the meaning of my name without me needing to explain, we will be BFFs," the little girl was beyond excited.

"Sister-in-law, what are you cooking? Wait a minute, you know how to cook? I thought the ladies of the Yue's were pampered, so why do you know how to cook?" Huo Yan asked as she sniffed, completely enthralled by the fragrance of the meal.

Yue Ning laughed, "when you are the unfavored daughter of your family, you learn to pick up habits which will help you survive, this is why I know how to cook," she explained to her as she poured the diced onions into the pan.

"That is good, I am happy you are the one my brother got married to, if he had gotten married to Yue Chen, then I believe there will be problems, she is so problematic," Huo Yan had a bitter taste in her mouth as she complained about Yue Chen.

"I am sorry, I momentarily forgot that she was your sister," Huo Yan suddenly apologized when she could not hear a word from her.

"It is fine, I am not offended, we have never been close, but I understand her personality well, you hit the nail on the head with your words," Yue Ning chuckled, secretly pleased with Huo Yan's words.

"Are you sure?" Huo Yan asked as she gauged her expression, trying to find out if she was hiding her annoyance.

She heaved a sigh of relief seeing that she could not find any.

"I bet you are cooking for my brother," Huo Yan casually commented, stunning Yue Ning who almost poured oil on her body.

"You see, my brother lives alone, he loves his space, as you can see, he does not have any maid, and his food and sleep schedule has been disrupted,

He might not tell me, but I know he has gastric problems, it will be best to have homemade food," Huo Yan was truly concerned about her brother as she had a worried look on her face.

Yue Ning fell into a trance. She recalled a scene from the novel, once, while having his episode, Yue Chen had called him to save her, turns out, it was just a prank, he ended up in the hospital because of that incident.

Originally, she was not cooking for him, but she would rather not disappoint this little sister who was worried about her brother, thus; she said,

"It is for your brother, but I cannot deliver it to him, he doesn't like me, so I will have to trouble you to bring it to him," Yue Ning said to her.

Well, there was no lie in what she said. Huo Feng's attitude screamed, 'stay away from me,' and since he was close to his sister, it was just appropriate to send his sister to him.

"I will be happy to, thank you very much Sister-in-law, you are like a goddess sent to my brother to alleviate his pains," Huo Yan was excited as she ran around in the kitchen.

After her moment of happiness, she decided to help Yue Ning, and she found it fun.

After an hour, they were done with the dish. It just so happens that Yue Ning made Huo Feng's favorite dishes.

She wiped the sweat away from her forehead, as she handed the flask to her. It was her task to deliver the food.

"I hope he likes it," Yue Ning felt nervous as she continually wiped her hands on her apron, while seeing her off.

"Do not worry Sister-in-law, he would like it, I tasted it, and it tastes spectacular, so there is no way my brother will reject it," Huo Yan comforted her with a smile.

Yue Ning stood until the car drove out of her sight.
