CHAPTER 34: ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THIS?

Logan could see that his mother was in a state of shock. He had indeed dropped the bomb unexpectedly; he could understand why she was like that.

So, he waited for her to digest that first before continuing.

Madam Meyer, unable to find the right answer by asking herself, looked at her son sternly.

Her son was the most rational person she had ever seen if she excluded her husband. The man she would forever love, even in the next lives to come.

He wasn't someone who did anything just because it could be done. Unless he sees the pros and cons of doing so, he would never do it.

As a mother, she was curious about what kind of woman was so capable of making her son willing to marry for whatever reasons there may be.

So, she asked directly, "Who is she and why did you do it?"

As a mother, she didn't believe a single bit that her son would marry for love.

He wasn't the kind of person who would fall in love at first sight. That was pure nonsense.

With how calculative her son was, would he let himself fall under such a spell? That would be dangerous.

He did that once, and she didn't think that there would be another woman like Selena who would capture his heart the way that girl did.

Logan reached his hand for his mother and the other let her hold his hands with ease.

"Mother, it's Briar. I married her!" with her hands in his, Logan truthfully gave his mother a response.

Madam Meyer's body shook when that answer was given.

"This ….. how could it be her?" her voice trembled as she asked Logan, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Of all people, she didn't expect that her son would go for the nanny. Although when she saw them earlier, she felt that something was going on. She didn't think about that kind of relationship at all.

Logan didn't panic but caressed her hands to calm her down as he waited for her to digest what he had just said.

Madam Meyer's mind was in turmoil as she tried to find the reason why her son would do that.

Did he go tricked? Was she pregnant?

What was happening?

She felt like she was going crazy and she wasn't the only person going crazy right now.

Alice had just entered the house when she overheard her brother telling their mother about his marriage to Briar.

How could he marry that two-faced snake?

What did that snake do for her brother to marry her?

There was some conspiracy going on and she wasn't going to let Briar get away with it.

Unknown to the two, Alice left the house and quickly dialed a number she never thought would call in her life.

The phone rang for a moment before it was picked up.

In an authoritative voice, Alice ordered, "Get your ass down to the garden and don't let anyone knows. We need to talk!" before hanging the call.

Meanwhile, back to mother and son, Logan was looking at his mother as he explained the whole situation to her.

When Madam Meyer heard the whole story, a sigh of relief escaped from her lips, and the tension between her eyes lessened.

"You nearly shocked me to death. Why didn't you tell us before? This is something serious!" Madam Meyer chided her son after digesting the whole story.

Logan chuckled lightly as he let his mother's hands go and calmly responded, "Am I not here to tell you now?"

"But it's been over a week. A lot of things can happen in a week, you know?"

"Haha, mother. Have trust in your son. If it's not me then Briar. Don't you know how she is?"

Madam Meyer, hearing that, couldn't help but picture Briar in her mind again.

That girl was very good. She was so good that even when people started calling her second mother; she didn't feel bothered by it at all.

She loved the family and the kids so much that no one would surpass her. In fact, she was better than the biological mother, although she didn't want to admit it.

"She is good. Are you sure that this is fine? Will you manage? The both of you?" Madam Meyer asked worriedly.

This kind of marriage wasn't as simple as it seems to be. As much as she understands the reason why her son did what he did, several uncertain factors might change the whole game.

And she didn't want to be caught in the crossfire.

Logan exhaled as he scratched his nose.

It wasn't that he had never thought about it before. At first, he was worried. He worried about how they would manage and what they would do, but all that pressure vanished on the first night he shared the bed with her.

Thinking about that night, a smile blossomed on his face and Madam Meyer, seeing that, nearly rolled her eyes. Was her son that stupid?

She didn't think so.

So, what was he doing?

"Don't worry, mother. Everything is going perfectly. Just relax and let me deal with everything. When have you seen your son losing in a fight?" his brow corked as he boastfully asked that.

This time, Madam Meyer rolled her eyes at her son, wondering when his skin became that thick.

When she was about to say something, a melodious voice sounded, taking the two by surprise.

"Auntie and Logan, I am stepping out for some fresh air outside!" Briar informed with a smile before vanishing from their sight.

The two looked at each other with surprise on their faces. Both of them probably wondering the same thing.

'When did she arrive? How much did she hear?'

Unfortunately, the questions could be asked as Briar had left already.

The two of them didn't say a word but chuckled helplessly, filled with mixed emotions.

After a while of being speechless, Madam Meyer gathered her thoughts, recalling what was important, and asked, "Anyway, I won't interfere in this matter. Since it's for the good of everyone, I will support you. With your birthday banquet coming, what are your plans? Do you plan to keep the marriage a secret or reveal it?"

Hearing about that, Logan's eyes brightened as he found his mother very much to his liking. She was exceptionally good and not making a fuss. He loved this side of her.

"I don't plan to keep it a secret. If I do that, then there would be no point in me marrying in the first place," he flatly revealed his thoughts.

Madam Meyer nodded her head, agreeing with her son's thoughts.

"Indeed, if you hide it. This marriage would be useless. Since you chose her as a shield, then she should do what she is paid for. But don't hurt her in the process!" her eyes narrowed as she warned her son.

Logan nodded his head, agreeing with her as well.

"This is why I will be revealing our marriage during the banquet. It might be a contract marriage, but in this period, I will not let any harm fall on her!"

"You know that's not the truth, right? Once her identity gets exposed, all kinds of trouble would start falling on her?"

"I know, but she would handle it. I believe in her."

"Don't overestimate her that much. Dealing with vixens and children isn't the same!" Madam Meyer reminded him.

Logan shrugged, not taking it seriously as he answered, "I still believe in her. Let us wait and see!"

Seeing him so adamant in pushing all troubles to Briar, Madam Meyer decided to let it go. After all, how could she enjoy the status of being the Meyer's daughter-in-law if she couldn't deal with the pressure?

While she was thinking about that, and picturing the chaotic future, a sudden disturbance made her frown and displeased.

"Madam, it's bad!" one of the maids called exasperatedly, her voice a bit loud and looking flustered.

Madam Meyer scanned this audacious maid who didn't know her place, with dissatisfaction on her face and was about to scold her when the maid hurriedly knelt on the floor, pleading and revealing the issue of why she was acting in such a manner.

"Madam, I am very sorry, but it's really bad. The young Miss …. The young Miss is _" the maid didn't get to finish before another scream resonated throughout the room.

"Daddy! Small auntie is beating second mother! Hurry up!" Lyra yelled as she dashed out of the house without waiting for her father.

Boom!

And an explosion sounded in his head.

What the heck happened in such a short time?
