Uchiha Clan Grounds, Naka Shrine.
In the dimly lit room, torches flickered, casting shifting shadows.
As soon as Tōshirō stepped inside, countless eyes turned toward him in unison, like spotlights focused directly on him.
Even someone as thick-skinned as Tōshirō couldn't help but feel a little uneasy under so many gazes. He awkwardly greeted them, "Uh… hey, everyone's here, huh."
No one responded, though their minds were full of murmurs.
Didn't see it coming.
Really didn't see it coming.
Truly, you can't judge a book by its cover.
This kid actually managed to quietly snatch away the precious princess of the Senju clan.
Damn, what a win for the Uchiha clan.
In a way, this was the biggest victory the Uchiha had ever scored in their long-standing rivalry with the Senju.
The Senju clan had already disbanded, but the Uchiha still stood strong.
If Tsunade married Tōshirō, technically, he'd be marrying into her side… right?
Would that mean Tsunade would need to prefix her name with Uchiha, becoming Uchiha Tsunade?
Now that thought was seriously exciting.
At that moment, Tōshirō was completely unaware of the clan members' racing imaginations. All he noticed was their stony silence and serious expressions, which made him start to feel insecure.
Had he misunderstood the situation?
Did most of the clan actually disapprove of his relationship with Tsunade?
What kind of logic was that?
Didn't they want an Uchiha to become Hokage one day?
Both sides were silently speculating, and since no one spoke, the atmosphere in the room became thick with tension.
After a long pause, a low voice finally broke the silence.
"Tōshirō, you know why we asked you to come, right?"
Staring straight at him, the current Uchiha clan leader's eyes made Tōshirō feel a little nervous. He nodded silently, not daring to speak.
The clan leader took a deep breath. "Do you know who Tsunade is?"
Intimidated by the man's presence, Tōshirō meekly replied, "Y-Yes, I do."
The clan leader's tone sounded almost accusatory: "You know? And you still dared to lay a hand on her? Don't you know she's the granddaughter of the First Hokage?"
"I-I know."
"Tōshirō, you've really grown bold. You actually dared to go after the First Hokage's granddaughter."
After a short silence, Tōshirō looked him in the eyes and replied seriously, "We truly love each other. I ask for your blessing."
The clan leader's voice deepened. "The Uchiha and Senju have a long-standing grudge—you're not unaware of that, are you?"
Tōshirō gritted his teeth. "I know."
"If you know, how can you still—?"
Sensing that things were going south, Tōshirō raised his hand and cut him off. "So in the end, you guys just don't approve of us being together, is that it?"
Huh?
No??
The clan leader was stunned. When did I ever say I didn't approve?
Tōshirō's gaze sharpened like an icy blade. "No need to say anything else. If you're against us, then let's settle it with our fists."
Everyone: ???
"In the end, our clan respects strength. Whoever has the bigger fist gets the final say."
Tōshirō declared boldly, "I'll make it clear today: whether you approve or not, no one is going to split us up!"
The clan leader looked at him—this kid had suddenly become so fired up—and decided not to waste more words. He got straight to the point: "I never said I was against it…"
"Hmph! If anyone here disagrees, come at me. I'll show you what true—"
Just as Tōshirō was about to launch into a full-on declaration, he suddenly paused and blinked. "Uh, what did you just say?"
The Uchiha clan leader looked off into the distance. "We're already old. The future belongs to your generation. Let the past be the past."
???
"Anyway, we don't oppose the two of you being together. If you love her, go ahead and love her boldly. After all, who hasn't been young once?"
Tōshirō was dumbfounded for a moment, then his heart finally relaxed.
Damn it, why didn't you just say that from the start?!
So much useless talk earlier, got me all worried for nothing.
Since the clan had no objections, Tōshirō figured there was no reason for him to stick around any longer."If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."
"Wait."The Uchiha clan leader called out to Tōshirō just as he was about to leave.
Tōshirō paused. "What is it?"
"Just a reminder—while the Uchiha clan may not oppose your relationship, that doesn't mean the Senju side will be as agreeable. After all, not everyone is as open-minded as we Uchiha."
Tōshirō nodded. "I understand."
Then, the clan leader suddenly added, "So how far have you two gotten? When are you planning to get married?"
Tōshirō froze: ???
The Uchiha clan leader coughed twice, thickening his skin to say, "You're both not that young anymore. When I was your age, I already had more than one child."
Having lived through the Warring States era, people of their generation tended to marry and have children early to avoid the risk of their lineage dying out.
Tōshirō sensed the hint and replied cautiously, "We haven't really planned to get married this early."
"Aren't you two already living together?"
"That's a different matter."
"No, it's the same thing. Who lives together every day without getting married?"
Perhaps realizing that what he was saying sounded a bit utilitarian, the Uchiha clan leader coughed again to buy time and reframe his words:"You have to understand, the Senju aren't as easy to talk to as we are. They're all a bunch of old-fashioned traditionalists."
Tōshirō: ...
"So, my advice is to go ahead and marry her early, settle things quickly. Better yet, have a kid while you're at it. Once that happens, even if they object, they'll have no choice but to accept it."
Tōshirō: ...
"Of course, if you think marriage is too troublesome, you could just have the kid first. Same result. Those betrothal-before-birth cases aren't exactly rare."
The Uchiha clan leader's logic was straightforward and brutal—boil the rice before asking permission. Once the deed is done, the opposition would be powerless.
Can't blame him for being shameless. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He couldn't just sit back and let it pass—if he could push things along, he would.
Just imagining the granddaughter of the First Hokage marrying into the Uchiha family… the clan leader could probably laugh himself awake from a dream.
Tōshirō shook his head and ultimately declined:"I appreciate your good intentions, Clan Leader, but marriage and children still feel a bit far off for us. We'd prefer to take things slow."
"If possible, I'd rather Tsunade marry me with her clan's full blessing."
The Uchiha clan leader frowned. "The Senju clan's already disbanded. Is all that really necessary?"
Tōshirō gave a vague "uh" in response—because honestly, that hit the nail on the head.
Everything he had just told the clan leader was BS.
In reality, Tōshirō didn't actually mind marrying early.
What he did mind was Uchiha Madara scheming behind the scenes.
Once he got married, it'd be hard to avoid doing all sorts of strange, unspeakable, indescribable things with Tsunade.
And Tōshirō knew himself—he didn't have that kind of willpower. Once he got a taste, he'd be asking Tsunade to "team up for daily missions" all the time.
The mental image was already forming in his head:
Ding. You and Tsunade have completed the Daily Mission 1,000 times. Achievement [Busy as Hell] unlocked. Reward: 1 pet (random stats). Chance to inherit your shared talent skill. Keep it up to unlock more daily achievements.
Note: This achievement can be refreshed repeatedly...
Meanwhile, Tsunade's physical stats would be steadily dropping until the pet was finally "born."
That entire scenario gave Tōshirō a headache just thinking about it.
He vividly remembered how, during childbirth, Minato's wife had been targeted and exploited by Obito—leading to tragedy.
Tōshirō had no intention of repeating that.
So, until Uchiha Madara was eliminated, he had no plans—nor the courage—to become physically involved with Tsunade. That could actually cost someone their life.
Living together gave him a reason to abstain. But once they were married, that reason would vanish.
Tōshirō straightened up and said seriously:"Clan Leader, there's no need to press the matter. I've made up my mind—not getting married to Tsunade for now. We'll just continue living together. If the time is right, we might just tie the knot directly."
Seeing that Tōshirō was resolute, the Uchiha clan leader sighed and didn't press further.
"Very well. As long as you've thought it through. All we Uchiha can do now is support you from behind the scenes."
"Thank you for your understanding, Clan Leader."
