The night was supposed to be quiet. Instead, it was filled with screams.
A deep, guttural roar tore through the darkness, followed by the sharp clang of metal and the unmistakable sound of flesh being ripped apart. You bolted upright, heart pounding as the camp erupted into chaos.
"What was that?!" Plavo shouted, scrambling to his feet.
Before you could answer, another deafening screech echoed through the air. Shadows moved just beyond the firelight–twisted figures with too many limbs and glowing, predatory eyes. They came fast, faster than anything you'd faced before.
The camp's defenses–half-finished barricades and salvaged weapons–were proving useless. A group of fighters near the eastern wall fell within seconds, their screams cut short as the creatures overran them. The General barked orders, rallying the troops, but it was clear: you were losing ground.
A distant explosion caught your eye. Beyond the battlefield, in the enemy's camp, bright bursts of fire lit up the sky. They were under attack, too.
Plavo's wrist device beeped furiously. "They're fighting something–something like this! But they're–" he hesitated, watching as a massive beast collapsed under a volley of crude, sharpened weapons–"winning."
You clenched your fists. While your forces struggled to hold the line, the enemy was cutting through the monsters like they were nothing.
The balance had shifted, and not in your favor.
A soldier crashed into you, nearly knocking you over. "We can't hold them off!" he gasped. "They're breaking through!"
You looked around, searching for any chance–any hope of turning the tide. But as another wave of creatures surged forward, your options were running out.
As you rushed to the back, you felt a small head-ache still lingering. "Plavo! Use your device to connect to the collected speakers and make large frequency sounds!" You hastily devised a plan, that wasn't supposed to work in some logics...
A huge blast of sound rung in everyones ear to the point that some were bleeding–"Sire-! The monsters-!.. They are retreating!"
