Prologue

Rú xuān was bought to serve a rich family. She was fifteen at the time. Her usual chores were washing their clothes,making food, and cleaning their house. She was used to their verbal abuse. When things didn't go their way, they would neglect her from food or clothes. Their house was close to the imperial palace. She always wanted to know what it looked like behind the long, thick red walls of the palace

Wei Yu was born into the imperial royal family. His status was the  crown prince. His life was simple yet complicated.

"Rú xuān, come here," said a voice, known as Xīn yí the young lady of the house. Her father was a low government official serving the court. "Yes, milady." said Rú xuān. "Wash my clothes and clean my room." said Xīn yí. Cleaning Xīn yí room took the whole day. At night, she washed her clothes. Her hand started to hurt from the cold water. She hung the clothes up, letting the wind dry it.
