Chapter 33: Family Betrayal

Cynthia's POV

Sinacore was standing there, his tall frame silhouetted against the muted glow from the window. His presence here was the last thing I had expected, and it threw me completely off balance.

“S-Sinacore?” I stammered, my voice barely a whisper as the shock rendered me almost speechless. “Wh-what are you doing here?”

He turned to face me, his eyes locking into mine with an intensity that made my breath catch in my throat. Yet, there was calmness there too—a tenderness that seemed to reach out and soothe the storm of emotions brewing within me. It was as if he could see straight into my soul, understanding the fear and confusion I was desperately trying to hide.

How much had he overheard? Did he know what they had just revealed? That I wasn’t even Lisa’s daughter?

“I noticed you’d left the house,” he began, his voice steady but with a hint of urgency, “and I knew something wasn’t right. I called Brad. He helped me track you down.”
