Chapter 31: I’ll handle it myself

Cynthia’s POV

I left Sinacore’s house before the sun had risen. He hadn’t returned after his training session at the academy, likely due to the media vans surrounding the property. With that many people demanding a statement from him, I’m sure Brad felt it wasn’t safe for Sinacore to leave.

I’m grateful for it because it allowed me to slip out of the house unnoticed.

My suitcase, small and hastily packed, trailed behind me with a dull clatter over the cobblestones. Sinacore had been kind offering me a safe place to stay when my life was in shambles. He never asked too many questions, respecting the space I needed to breathe and think.

But this…was different. My parents had crossed a line, and I couldn’t let Sinacore suffer the consequences of their actions. He didn’t deserve to be dragged into the mess that was my life.

I looked back at the house and sighed. "I was just starting to like it here," I muttered to myself before continuing toward the empty street.
