The black magic ball

Skylar's POV

The moment my eyes opened, I knew something had gone terribly wrong.

My body ached as if I had been hit by a truck. My head spun, and everything felt… off. But when I saw Alec's face, mere inches from mine, the panic in my chest eased.

I didn't expect him to be here, holding me so tightly, like he was afraid of letting go.

I tried to recall, but my memories were hazy. All I remembered was the boy in the healer's wing, looking lost and terrified, and then… nothing. A chill ran down my spine as I pieced it together.

Alec had saved me. He had pulled me back from the edge of death.

I tried to shift, to sit up, but Alec's arms tightened around me, pulling me closer. "Don't move," he growled softly.

Salony, my ever-watchful wolf, stirred weakly in my mind. "Did I just hear him right? Did our Alpha just show emotions that weren't fury or indifference?"

I would have laughed if I had the strength. "Can we not?"
