Hide and seek

Skylar's POV

When I woke up, Alec was gone.

Again.

I pulled the blanket closer, feeling the cold space next to me. It was strange, but I was getting used to waking up like alone.

"And here we go again. Alec being Alec. I think he didn't return last night as well." Salony quipped sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes, slipping out of bed and stretching. "He has a pack to run."

"Or—" Sameera shot back. "It's Sunday. And he just chose to ignore us because he knows what today's task is."

Right. Sunday... the day we were allowed to ignore each other. I wasn't surprised Alec would take that opportunity. After Friday night's endless riddles, I had half expected him to vanish like smoke, though I thought maybe we had shared something more. The way he touched me, the way he looked so relaxed… it felt different.

Salony interrupted my thoughts. "He is a cold, broody Alpha, remember? It was different. Even for him."
