The Aftermath

Jason's POV-

I sprinted racing against time to find aid. My breath escaping my lips is heavy yet short. From what I knew both Dad and Uriel were still alive, and If I didn't hurry they wouldn't be. I jumped in my car in the garage and sped out of there like I was on hot wheels. My mind went back to Uriel, his words etched in my brain, then to Dad and the fact that both Sky and Lou were still missing. I pressed down harder on the gas pedal.

If I get pulled over that'd be even better as I wouldn't have to drive three damn miles to the nearest station. Hence the reason Dad had a clinic built in the East wing of the castle. Somehow Dakota has wiped out everyone there as well including Nelson as his body was amongst the others in my closet. My heart continued an endless thud in my chest, my hands still trembling against the steering wheel I was clutching. I was the only car on the road, but it felt as though I was in heavy traffic.

For the first time my lamborghini is not moving fast enough for me. The flashing of the red and blue lights snapped me out of my thoughts. Never have I ever been so happy to see a cop in my life until now. I quickly pulled over. Hopping out of my car before it even completed its halt. I ran over to the police as he walked up to me with confusion all over his face. "I need your help" was the first thing I got out. He seemed worried until he noticed my blood stained clothes.

His expression changed. "Sir, is that your blood?" He asked, stepping back his hand resting on his weapon. "I… I need your help" I repeated. "Is that your blood?!" He asked once more now, drawing his weapon. The other cop that I didn't even notice also drew his. Which pissed me off. "Didn't you hear me? I said I need your help. Stop pointing that at me!" I yelled in frustration. The other seemed to realize who I was when I glanced at him a second time.

"Deven, put your weapon away, that's the King's son." He said placing his weapon back in its belt. "Are you okay? Is the king hurt?" Finally someone's asking the questions that mattered, but I couldn't answer. I reached into my pockets realizing I was having an asthma attack. My inhaler must have fallen out. I frantically searched. The wheezing is getting heavier. My eyes began to tear up, blurring my vision and then my whole body felt heavy.

"He's having an asthma attack," Deven said as he walked to me just in time because my legs betrayed me and I collapsed right into his arms. Still wheezing the only thing that ran through my head was how useless can I fucking be? I can't even get help. I had to do something. I tightly squeezed the officer's hand to get his attention back on me and away from his walkie. "Save them" was all I could muster before I passed out.

Jason's POV-

"He's going to be fine, your majesty. Please allow me to walk you back to your room" I hear a lady say. As I opened my eyes. The light in the room causing me to blink repeatedly. "He's awake. Jason, can you hear me" My dad's voice echoed through the room. I quickly looked to my right. "Dad?" My voice was unrecognizable even to me. It was a raspy hoarse whisper.

"Shhh yes I'm right here" Dad said tightly holding my hand. The nurse I'm guessing her voice was what I heard before I opened my eyes went out to get the doctor. My Dad sat beside me pulling the blankets over me yet that other hand never left mine as he tucked me in like I was a kid again. "Where's Uriel, Lou, and Sky?" I asked. Remembering the hell that had happened earlier today.

My Dad froze at the mention as if I had asked some forbidden question. I started to worry and went to sit up right. "No hey please lie down" The doctor said as he walked over to where I was. My Dad helped me lie back down. "My name is Sam. I'm just here to check your vitals, no need to worry." He said looking over some papers and checking the drip.

"Well you're doin just fine. Have you lost your inhaler?" He asked. I nodded in response. "Well no worries I'll be prescribing you a new one. This one is a bit stronger than your last. Try to keep up with it." he said. "He will thank you" my dad voiced and nowed to show his gratitude making the doctor quickly ramble. Clearly blushed since he's had the King now to him.

"Oh no you don't need to thank me your majesty." He said bowing back. "I'll be back to check on him later." He bowed once more before leaving the room. "Dad, you never answered me." I said when the nurse also left. "I'll tell you later ok for now rest, you need to recover." Was his response. "What? No Dad, tell me now. Where are my brothers? Where is…Sky?" he burst into tears.

Covering his face with his hands. I tried to mentally prepare myself. Gripping the sheets tightly. I asked again. "Dad, you have to tell me something." He was still crying but I could hear exactly what he said yet I asked him to repeat it anyway. "What?" He raised up to meet my gaze. Tears flowing down his cheeks. Uriel's in a room here, he's asleep, but will be fine, Lou and Sky are missing.

Dakota is also in this hospital and is to be taken to jail after he's treated. "No, no noh he's supposed to be dead. Dad what did he do to Lou and Sky? How are they missing?" I asked. The weight of it all crashed into me like a wrecking ball and suddenly I couldn't breathe again. I gasped for air but nothing came. "Get me a doctor now!" I heard my dad demand.

There's this extreme sensation in my chest as I lay there gasping for air like a fish out of water. My eyes watering, my heart thrusting harshly against my ribcage so much so that I could hear my own heart. Its thumping reached my head, and I became more and more like a prisoner held captive by my own body.

"Son, can you hear me? You're going to be ok. Help him!" my dad pleaded. That's the first time I ever heard him plead with anyone. _/\_//\_//\_ Boom boom boom boom my heartbeat suddenly gets softer. Boom boom boom_/\_/\_____I lie breathless as it echoes in my ears boom boom "da I attempted yet I couldn't form a coherent word. Beeeep_______

"He's flatlining!"

King Sattarros POV-

Your majesty, we will do everything we can to help him. Please step out." The nurse said, guiding me to the side and shutting the door. I watched in horror through the tiny glass window in the door. My heart felt tight. I held onto my chest. Clenching tight. Begging the gods to allow me the strength I needed to get through this hell. I can't lose him nor Uriel.

I already don't know where Lou and Sky is and to think this is all because of Dakota. I have never wanted to hurt someone as much as I wanted to hurt him. I feel like my wife left me alone with a demon. How can he be so cold? Was he ill mentally? He wasn't to my knowledge. So why? There's this urge, this dangerous urge that I had no control over since that night.

And then it hit me. I could save my sons. I can save them if I just give in. I need to give in. But what if I can't stop myself. I could really harm them. Hell I could murder them. I swore to never ever bring this fate on my sons. No, I swore to never bring this fate to any human for as long as I live. I can only do that much. Still not knowing how to control it, just how to slow it down.

I can't try it on them first if I do and it kills them. I will end my own life. I rushed out into the parking lot of the hospital. Looking for an easy target. I walked slowly through the rows of cars and then I noticed the camera from the corner of my eye. I quickly back tracked. Heading back into the hospital. I can't save them, I couldn't even save my late wife.

I went back to Uriel's room and sat beside him. "If only I could wake you up, give Jason a life without the need for an inhaler and bring Lou and Sky home safely. I'd be the happiest man in the world. I could give my life for all of yours or my position as king for your happiness. How should I be called a king if I can't even protect my own family?"

I said under my breath so I was surprised to see that his hand moved. Did he hear me? "My child, can you hear me?" I asked as I rose from the chair. His hand moved once more. I quickly placed it in mine. "Take your time. I am here." I voiced as I held his hand in mine. I watched closely as his eyes moved. Slowly they opened revealing those green orbs.

He was a spitting image of his mom. Same eyes, same hair, I swear the only thing he has of mine is my nose and height. She isn't able to reach a single shelf in her pantry yet he was almost taller than me. "Dad?" He called out and I gave a gentle squeeze. "I'm here" he went to move his mouth and I hushed him quickly knowing all too well what the question was.

"Don't worry. You will see them when you've recovered." I said not wanting to say more. And have a repeat of what happened to Jason. He nodded in response and let his eyes close once more. Clearly worn out from the day's events. Doctor Harvey walked in with a warm smile. Which somewhat calmed my nerves. I stood to my feet.

"My son?" I asked, referring to Jason. It had better be, good news If he's smiling. I thought. "He's stable, your majesty." He said checking Uriel. I sighed relieved. "When can I see him?" I asked. Hoping for him to say now. He looked up from his Clipboard. "If you would like you can visit him now but I would recommend you rest yourself and check on him later about two hours or so later."

I nodded silently, agreeing. I allowed the nurse to take me back to my room. Just as we reached I asked that she inform me immediately if one of the wakes. "Yes your majesty" she said before heading off. I went in and climbed into the bed. I felt weak and in pain. Yet I only cared about my sons. The pain they felt, the events that took place in which I did not protect them from.

I will forever feel guilty for being so useless. So afraid to harm one son that I almost lost them all. I wondered why my late wife or my ex mistress ever batted an eyelash in my direction. No, why the hell did we not abort Dakota? I found myself asking. And then I mentally slapped myself for that question. Serene (late wife) would have slapped me and divorced me immediately had I asked her to that.

"My world just seems to keep flipping after losing you my love" I said to myself staring at her beautiful face in my locket. "Why did you have to leave me?" I asked, again no one in particular as I adjusted in bed. Getting in a comfortable position before drifting off still holding my locket close to my heart.
