Chapter 305

On the open level of the fortress, Ali stood opposite a half-broken stone throne. Behind him lay the broken remains of a large hall, with the air flowing freely through the shattered walls.

STEP STEP STEP

Ali turned around to see Fiona walk up the broken stairs and step over piles of stones until she reached the centre of the hall. It was cleared of the rubble and had a large, four-metre-by-four-metre metal table in the centre.

"Why did you call for me?" Fiona asked Ali. Sarina had told her Ali was waiting for her up here and she had left her baby with Sarina.

"You're a lady of high class… Well, you used to be," Ali said to Fiona, whose inflamed eyes sharpened, and she stepped back.

"I'm not going to ask you who you were or the details of your life, but since you're staying with me, I'm offering you the position of advisor. You just have to give your opinion on the politics of the kingdom," Ali told Fiona. She lowered her head and didn't answer for a moment, thinking about Ali's proposal.

"You're not a demon?" she asked.

Ali sighed and shook his head, "No."

"Are you from the empire, the church, or the coalition?" she asked, her eyes matching Ali's black eyes. She was a good reader of faces and could tell if people were lying.

"No," Ali answered.

'Nothing, I can tell nothing from him. It's like his own face is a mask. How can someone live like that?' she thought, looking at Ali's otherworldly charming face.

"I… accept, but I don't have to do anything I don't wish to do, and I will never risk the life of my daughter," she stated her conditions.

Ali smirked, and a red glass vial appeared in his hand. Fiona saw it and her eyes widened in surprise.

"You have a potion!" she exclaimed.

"You know what this is?" Ali asked as he stepped closer to her. Now he was standing very close to her.

"Yes, adventurers find it in dungeons, and mages and alchemists brew it. It can save a person from deadly wounds, depending on the quality of the potion." She thought back to a time when George was running through forests and lands with her in his arms. It was a night she could never forget.

Ali poured droplets of the potion onto his fingers and raised them to Fiona. She backed away at first, but then she allowed him to get closer. He pressed his fingers around her inflamed eyes, and the red liquid instantly vanished into her skin. Ali took back his fingers and stepped back from her.

He watched as Fiona's eyes lost their inflammation and returned to their beautiful shape. Her piercing gold eyes shone, and her beauty took another notch up.

"Are the two of you done flirting?" a robotic voice reverberated through the hall.

"Who's that?" Fiona looked around, flustered.

"We can start," Ali said. Fiona turned to see him watching the metal table as if he were speaking to it.

Then, to her shock, the metal table lit up with blue lights. A holographic map of the entire continent appeared over the table, with the capitals of every powerhouse of the continent displayed.

"Incredible! I've never seen magic like this…," Fiona said as she passed her hand through the holographic continent and looked at it in awe.

"It's wrong, though. It misses many details, and the borders are wrong from what I remember," she said.

"Well, change it," Ali stood behind Fiona and grabbed her hand. He took her hand and dragged a border that changed with the movement of her finger. Fiona was amazed even further as she learned quickly and started chanting the map.

Ali watched quietly as Miles updated all the changes into his database and asked her specific questions about the geopolitical situations.

"This is it," Fiona said with a proud face as she rotated the map around and showed it to Ali.

'I am in the southern part of the kingdom of Cendrial. Cendrial shares its northern borders with a kingdom of barbarians called Skornar. The barbarians share their eastern borders with the infamous Calrassian Empire, which shares borders to its south with a church called the Sanctum of the True Flame. To the south of the continent, a coalition called the Free Concord shares borders with the church and the coalition shares its western borders with the Elven Kingdom of Elarithil and the Kingdom of Dwarves Thragdumir. The forest of Beasts dominates the centre of the continent and apparently separates my land from the hostile elves.' Ali took in all the information, and the chessboard was slowly filling up with pieces for him.

'World domination has always been something I wanted to try my hand at. I've done world domination before on Earth, but that was the underworld and shadows. This is different – this is lords, superhuman knights, and world-breaking mages.'

"Thank you," Ali said to Fiona, who turned away from his otherworldly face. Ali smirked and zoomed the map in on his land.

Fiona looked at the map and saw the small detail, but she couldn't help but say, "The lands of Cendrial are constantly changing, so I can't be sure of who's the lord of which land after my years away from the kingdom." Ali nodded in agreement.

"I've marked a bandit fortress to the east of House Cinder. It's close to us and in the forest. The prisoner has confessed all its details." Miles said as Ali looked at the fortress on the map and the specific trail that led to it.

"House Cinder and this lord Nolan are about to go to war. Their territory is very close to mine. I can get to them in under an hour on Eldora easily." Ali said out loud and looked up where a large pair of wings pierced through the clouds.

"Are you planning to attack them?" Fiona asked the monster of a man next to her.

"No, not for now at least. Miles is watching their movements from afar, and I will be there when they fight. Once they are exhausted, I will swoop in and take both their lands. The viscount of the south of this dukedom is fighting with another viscount, and from what the prisoner said, he is winning. So, he won't be asking his barons for their armies or here to stop them from fighting in his land. He hasn't done so in over a year of fighting, so it's a window for me to expand. By the time he's back from his fight, I'll challenge him for the position of viscount." Ali announced his plan for the near future.

Fiona looked at him, "How strong do you think you are? Some barons have rank two and three knights, while viscounts have many rank three knights. A rank three knight is on the level of the red demi-human." She told him.

"That is true," Miles supported her.

Ali stood straight and looked at her, "If strength was an issue, then I have more than enough for that." Ali's left eye turned completely black, and his shadow expanded where a monstrous black dragon head slowly showed itself to Fiona, who stepped back in fear of the horrible beast.

CRACKLE!

Her eyes went down to Ali's right hand, where red lightning travelled all over his arm and touched the stone rubble, crushing it with just one spark of electricity.

ROAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!

All the people of the village stopped eating and their faces turned pale as two huge dragons dove down like meteors towards the fortress.

Fiona looked up at the two dragons when they both opened their wings and wands hit the hall powerfully. Fiona clutched the metal table not to be thrown into the air, and the two dragons landed on the edge of the broken hall.

Abeloth raised his head to the sky and released a powerful fire that sizzled the air. Eldora lowered her head beside Ali and beside Shadow.

"Tell me, Fiona, how do I fare compared to one of those knights?" The piles of stones around started to float into the air around Ali, and all three dragons growled.

"Maybe you can last a minute against an experienced third-rank knight," she told Ali, even with all the power he showed her.

For the first time, Fiona saw Ali smile. He smiled at the words she said, "That is great! I wanted to fight strong enemies." Ali said truthfully as he ordered Abeloth to fly into the clouds above and Shadow to return into the darkness, keeping Eldora with him.

"So, what are you going to do now?" Miles asked from the table.

"Get rid of the variable, which is the bandits, and look out for the fight between the two barons," Ali said.

"Eldora, come here," Ali said aloud and approached Fiona, who stepped back as the large dragons got closer to her.

"Give me your hand," Ali said to Fiona, who hesitated before giving him her right hand.

He grabbed her soft and delicate hand before raising it to Eldora, who stayed in place as Fiona touched her smooth scales.

"Her name is Eldora," Ali told Fiona, who nodded and slowly gained the courage to calmly touch the giant dragon.

"She is a wind dragon. She will stay here most of the time, and if the fortress is attacked by something that Miles can't handle, then you will ride on Eldora's back, and she will fly you away. Do you understand?" Ali asked Fiona, who nodded and now had both hands on the beautiful and gentle dragon.

"She is beautiful. How did you find her?" She asked Ali as she gently rubbed Eldora's snout.

"I had her since she was just an egg," Ali answered Fiona, and Eldora's eyes locked on him.

"Liar," she sent the message into Ali's head, but he ignored it.
