Demons are irritable, malicious, arbitrary, violent, unethical, and unpredictable. They are committed to destroying everything, including their own kind, and take pleasure in this lifelong pursuit. They frequently invade other planes, bringing with them destruction and fear. Demons resist order, and not even the Lords of the Abyss can keep them fully organized. Unless controlled by spells, they will never act in unison or follow plans—their thoughts from one moment can be completely overturned in the next. They are powerful and evil lunatics.
Communicating with demons is a highly frustrating task. Without the constraints of a contract, their simple and rigid minds harbor only one thought: killing.
The dragon's head.
A thick blood pool.
Demons are not easy to negotiate with, so to ensure the success of the summoning, Chen Feng did not hesitate to drain the blood of all eleven bodies. The thick, pungent blood filled the entire room, and even the blood-hardened Chen Feng couldn't help but frown at the overwhelming stench.
A pungent scent.
Chen Feng's gaze grew more intense as he lifted his right hand to his mouth, biting down hard until his thumb oozed a small trickle of blood. Using blood as a medium is a prerequisite for a fair contract.
"Great being from the Abyss, I offer this thick blood and the head of an evil dragon as sacrifices, in exchange for a few minutes of your power..."
Chen Feng chanted under his breath. As a summoner, he was well-versed in the art of prayer.
The summoning was in progress.
Chen Feng placed his hand over the blood pool. Instantly, strange visions appeared on the surrounding walls: lava, seas of blood, demons, altars, and the shadow of an enormous monster.
The blood had caught the attention of a demon.
A dimensional rift tore open in the room, sucking in nearby desks and benches, which were instantly reduced to debris by the intense suction.
A monster emerged from the rift.
Even by demonic standards, its form was peculiar. Standing about ten feet tall, it resembled a giant spider. Its eight tentacles were sharp and slender like serpents, covered in dark green scales. Its mouth, resembling twisted petals, possessed powerful suction, well-suited for devouring the blood of its prey.
A Demon Spider.
Shaped like a spider and massive in size, it survives by preying on other demons. The Demon Spider cannot speak, but it understands Abyssal. It communicates with any being through telepathy. These terrifying creatures roam the Abyss and other planes, hunting and killing at will.
"In...si..."
A cold, low voice emanated from the Demon Spider as it stepped forward, closing the gap with Chen Feng. Its eight razor-sharp legs crushed the hard ground beneath it as if it were nothing more than soft clay.
A Silver-ranked creature.
The Demon Spider, with its powerful aura and imposing size, surpassed the capabilities of a Bronze-level demon. This was an evolved demon, possessing even greater destructive power.
Intimidation?
"Humph!"
Glancing at the Demon Spider that loomed close, Chen Feng let out a cold snort and took a step forward. The distance between them now was less than five centimeters—close enough for Chen Feng to see the fine hairs on the Demon Spider's maw.
The power of the contract.
Chen Feng had used the dragon's head as an altar, the lives of eleven people as sacrifices, and his own blood as the medium. From the moment the summoning began, a fair contract was established between him and the Demon Spider.
Demons are inherently violent and unpredictable creatures. Chen Feng would never put himself in a dangerous position without thorough preparation. The contract bound both parties—if the Demon Spider attacked and harmed him, it too would suffer the consequences through the contract's power.
"Ugly creature, your intimidation is meaningless to me. Either accept the contract and serve me when I command, or leave!"
Chen Feng's expression was cold, utterly unperturbed by the Demon Spider's terrifying form. Instead, a mocking smile played on his lips.
The Demon Spider, a Silver-ranked creature, perceived Chen Feng's mockery as a provocation. If they were in the Abyss, it would have gladly used its tentacles to pierce his limbs and let him die slowly in agony.
But this was Chen Feng's world, and the power of the contract prevented it from attacking the summoner.
Reject the contract?
The Demon Spider glanced at the blood pool, a glint of greed flashing in its eyes. It hesitated. The environment of the Abyss was harsh, filled with the stench of rot. Even the flesh and blood of other demons were foul and putrid.
Human blood, however, was different.
The blood in front of it was so sweet that just the scent made the Demon Spider's pores open wide. The dragon's head held even more allure; the brain matter retained much of the dragon's power. Devouring it would provide the Demon Spider with a potent boost.
The Demon Spider couldn't resist the temptation. If it walked away now, it would miss out on a rare opportunity to savor such a delicacy.
The Demon Spider gave Chen Feng a long, murderous look, its eyes brimming with rage. Yet, its actions defied its instincts as it turned away and buried its head in the blood pool, greedily sucking up the blood.
Faced with the choice between rage and a feast, the Demon Spider chose the latter.
"Insincere creature."
Chen Feng narrowed his eyes, his lips curling into a knowing smile as he watched the Demon Spider.
A Silver-ranked demon.
Although he had anticipated this possibility, the arrival of the Demon Spider still brought a smile to Chen Feng's face.
Demon Spiders are notoriously difficult demons. They possess extraordinary speed, razor-sharp tentacles, and, most importantly, the ability to spray webs.
These webs are sticky and laced with paralyzing toxins. Once prey is ensnared, escape is nearly impossible.
Although the contract was only temporary, with the Demon Spider serving Chen Feng for around five minutes, that was more than enough time. In the heat of battle, the appearance of the Demon Spider could completely turn the tide.
This was a powerful trump card.
If used wisely, it could achieve unexpected results...
