Far From Home

Natsuki and her teammate, Sasuke, had just began to seal Kaguya away, when the enraged Rabbit Goddess sent a portal towards Sasuke, in an attempt to stop herself from being sealed, she was unsuccessful, however, when Natsuki pushed Sasuke out of the way, finishing the sealing, and simultaneously being sent into the dimension Kaguya had meant to send Sasuke.

The portal spat her out in a storage closet of some kind, leaving her disoriented. Looking around, she saw the lone door to the room and could hear footsteps outside, quickly scrambling to her feet, she peeked outside, only to see a man. He appeared to be limping, wearing a blue outfit of some kind, when her eyes adjusted to the darkness she noticed more details thanks to her near night vision.

The man looked to be rotting, his skin slowly decaying, she had no idea what was wrong with him, but she instinctively knew to be cautious around him. She then attempted to contact her companion for life, 'Kurama?' She asked, waiting for a response from the fox sealed within her.

After a long pause, his deep voice answered, sounding weak, 'I'm tired, Kit. What do you need?'

'You see the man in front of me?'

Kurama looked through her eyes at the man in question, before his eyes widened, 'Natsuki, that man is dead.'

Her eyes widened at the news, "Wha-What?" She stammered out loud. How could he be moving if he was dead?

'Hush, Kit!' Kurama chastised.

'Too late…' She thought, understanding why he'd shushed her, the dead man had heard her and was now shambling towards her storage closet. Her hand went instinctively to her ninja pouch, only to grab air.

Eyes bulging with panic, her head snapped to look at her thigh, where the pouch should have been, only to see nothing, her hand shot to the small of her back, she sighed in relief at the familiar feel if her Ninjato's hilt. Quickly gripping it and unsheathing it, she readied herself, before a thought hit her. How does she kill a dead man?

A silent pause permeated the room, all the while the shuffling corpse drew closer, it was broken when Kurama spoke, 'Kit, I don't sense chakra from the man, but his brain does seem to be barely active.'

'So, Stab it in the head?' She wondered.

'Yes.' Was the simple reply.

Preparing herself, she slinked into the dark corner behind the slightly opened door, and waited, and waited, and waited. 'How long does it take for a corpse to move?' She stopped her musing when the dead man stumbled into the room, she froze like a lioness hunting prey.

Her eyes were fixed on her "prey" as he shuffled past her, his close proximity allowing her to see his outfit, it consisted of a dark blue jacket of some kind, he had on dark blue pants, black closed-toe boots, his hands were not covered, the outfit was completed by a dark blue hat of some kind, a gold badge in the center of the front of the hat, a black belt wrapped around his waist, multiple pouches lining it, with a strange empty holster of some kind on his right hip, another badge sat proudly on his chest. She read the letters RPD on the shoulders of the jacket, idly wondering what they meant.

Banishing her thoughts, she returned to what she needed to do, waiting for the perfect time to act, which came when he turned so his back was to her and stumbled slightly, inadvertently leaning backwards. Acting faster than lightning, she drove the ninjato into the back of his skull, pulling the, now truly dead, corpse into the shadow's of the room, laying him against the wall as she removed her sword.

Flicking the blood off, she sheathed the blade and stood, before clinging to the opposite side of the, now fully open, door. Looking out in search of more threats, seeing none for the moment, she slinked out of the storage room, using what little chakra she had left to cling to the walls, as close to the ceiling as she could get.

She reached the end of the hall and saw another closed door, approaching it she was caught completely off guard when the wall she was clinging to exploded. She expected to crash into the opposite wall but felt herself be caught mid-air, a strong grip on her throat, as she found herself suspended in the air by a mountain of a man.

Closer inspection left her puzzled as she gasped for breath. He was tall, his skin was gray, while he wore a large, closed, black, trench coat, black boots and gloves, with a black fedora on his head.

Grunting, she wheezed out a. "Asshole." before she was thrown through the opposite wall this man came through, finding herself tumbling over a railing and falling down into a foyer of some kind, landing roughly on her back, her coughing accentuating every bounce her body did, until she slid until she was looking up at a man, who thankfully was alive.

His skin was dark caramel, he wore an identical outfit to the dead man she killed prior, minus the hat, he had a buzz cut, some stumble, a serious face, and brown eyes, "Where the hell did you come from?" He asked in shock, as he thought he had locked this area down.

Lifting her left finger, Natsuki pointed to the freshly made hole in the wall on he third floor of the building they were in, now realizing she had fallen down three floors and thanked Kurama and her strong body that she was alive.

His eyes widened, "You fell from that far and lived?"

"Didn't fall…" She grumbled, wincing when she felt her broken spine mend itself, sending a mental thank you to Kurama.

"Well, you're safe now." he said, but he didn't seem to believe his own words.

"Uh-Uh." Was all she could say as she surveyed her surrounds, finding that she had landed next to what must have been a reception desk, two short ramps flanking it, with a door to the left, two staircases led to the second floor, a large statue of a woman in the center, she appeared to be holding a flag of some kind. "Where am I?" She asked, slightly dazed from the fall.

The man gave her a dubious look, "You don't know where you are?"

She shook her head, "I woke up in a storage closet, killed a dead man, and was grabbed by a big man before he threw me down here." She gave a brief explanation of how she got her, leaving out the obvious things he didn't need to know.

"Okay…" he muttered, seemingly taking in what she told him, he then offered her his hand, "Can you stand?"

Nodding, she clasped her hand in his and felt him pull her to her feet, she swayed slightly before regaining her balance, "Marvin Branagh." She turned her head to look at the man, noticing that his hand was still clasped with hers, he shook it up and down once in greeting before letting go.

"Natsuki." She answered as they let go of each other's hands.

"Natsuki?" He asked, "Sounds Japanese." He remarked.

She raised an eyebrow, 'Japanese?' She thought, not knowing what that meant. "So, where am I?"

He chuckled, but it was interrupted by a cough, "You're in Raccoon City Police Department, RPD for short." He informed her, she now understood the letters on the jackets of him and what must have been his colleague.

"Oh, the dead man I killed wore a similar outfit to yours, could he have been your colleague?"

He frowned slightly, "Most likely. This place has gone to shit!" he spat, sitting down on the steps that led to a raised area with two double doors, and a large metal door of some kind to the left when facing the doors.

"What happened?" She asked, squatting in front of him.

"I don't know! One minute everyone was normal, then people began attacking and eating others!" He coughed a few times, and she noticed the wound on his side, it looked like a bite mark.

"You gonna be okay?" She asked.

"I'm fine!" He said firmly, "Just, do me a favor."

She tilted her head, much like a fox, causing her blonde hair to cover half of her face, "What?"

"I sent a rookie to search for a way out, he went that way." he said, pointing to the metal door she saw earlier. "Go help him, he's gonna need it."

Looking between him and the door, she asked, "You sure you're gonna be okay?"

He nodded weakly, "I'll be fine. Now go!" he ordered.

Nodding, she approached the door and searched for a knob or something to indicate how to open it, she didn't have to search long as it made a clicking sound and raised itself slightly, leaving a foot tall space between it and the ground. She then heard rapid footsteps from the other side and heavy breathing, before she could kneel down to look inside a man began crawling through in a hurry, just as he almost made it through a hand reached under and grabbed him, before a bald dead man began to try and pull him back in.

Reacting quickly, Natsuki slammed her open-toed boot on the rotter's head, crushing it, before she pulled the man the rest of the way in, the door slamming close behind them.

Leon Kennedy didn't expect his first day on the job to go like this, and now he finds himself being saved by someone from a nightmare scenario, looking up, he locked eyes with the most mesmerizing eyes he'd ever seen. They were violet, with green flecks, he then got a good look at her face and had to suppress the blush that wanted to form, she was gorgeous, with a perfect jawline, a cute nose, fox shaped eyes that hinted at her being part Asian, maybe Japanese, and flawless cheekbones. She had stunning, bright blonde hair that went down to the middle of her back, two jaw-length bangs framed her face, with smaller bangs dancing across her forehead.

He then noticed her clothing, and to say they were unique would be an understatement, she wore a dark orange, sleeveless jacket with multiple pockets over a black long-sleeve muscle shirt, her pants consisted of dark orange, knee-length, cropped, cargo pants of some kind, with multiple pockets like the jacket. The rest of her exposed legs were covered by white bandages that flowed into black, open-toed, heeled, calf-length boots. The outfit was completed by a cloak that seemed to be clipped to the jacket in multiple places, presumably to stop it from interfering with her movement until it was needed, it hung from her neck, its hood down, she also had on black fingerless gloves with some black wrist guards protecting her arms, more white bandages wrapped beneath the wrist guards, but over the muscle shirt.

"Thanks!" he grunted, now sitting up, his blush under control while he faced the door he'd just crawled through.

"Don't mention it." She grinned, offering him her hand, which he promptly grabbed before she hoisted him to his feet.

"Leon, Leon Kennedy." He introduced himself.

"Natsuki." She responded.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

"I don't know, I woke up in a storage closet, before I bumped into Marvin and he asked me to go find and help you."

Leon snorted as he glanced at the door he'd barely escaped through, the occasional pound from the undead inside a reminder to how close he came to death, "You definitely helped…"

Natsuki copied his gaze, the duo standing in silence for a moment as they watched the undead fruitless attempts at breaking into the room, "What now?" She asked no one in particular, but Marvin answered anyway.

"We escape…" he said, showing her the small book he had with diagrams of medallions, statues, and animals.

"So, we need to find those medallions?" She asked, noticing how they seemed to be required to put at the base of the large statue in front of them, across the room.

"Yes, and these drawings of animals and other objects are clues somehow…"

"But we're missing pages…" Natsuki remarked, seeing the torn places that should show the rest of the solution to the puzzle.

"Then let's look for them." Leon stated.

"Split up?" She wondered, not sure if Leon wanted to go together or not.

"Yes, we meet back here when we've either found a Medallion, or something of note happened."

"You two!" Marvin's voice caught their attention, they looked over at him, finding that he had moved over the computer that showed the cameras. "You should see this!"

Frowning, Leon moved over first, Natsuki trailing behind him, she looked over his shoulder as he leaned down to look into the camera's. "Claire?" He asked as they looked at a woman in a slightly unzipped, red jacket over a black tank-top, blue jeans, and dark brown boots. Her auburn hair was in a ponytail, her large bangs framing her beautiful face and she had blue eyes. She was standing next to a locked gate, attempting to find a way in.

"You know her?" Marvin asked.

"Sort of, we met earlier and came here together." Leon explained.

"Well, you better hurry." Marvin urged. Leon nodded, gave Natsuki a one finger salute, and turned to find a way over there.

"Guess that leaves the other side to me." She remarked as she watched Leon climb the stairs and head to the right when he reached the top.

"You'll have to cut the tape on the switch for the door over there." He remarked, gesturing to the metal box that hung on the wall to the right of a large metal gate that went from the ceiling to the floor. "I gave Leon my knife before he left earlier." He said, sounding apologetic.

"Oh, don't worry." She smiled, grasping the hilt of her ninjato, unsheathing it slightly to reveal the blade within, "I got this."

Marvin's eyes widened in wonder, "Is that a genuine Ninjato?" He asked in awe.

Natsuki puffed up her chest in pride, Ninjato's were common in her old world, but were severely under-appreciated, so having someone show such awe at her blade made her proud to own it.

"Yep!" She chirped.

"Where'd you get it? I thought they were illegal in Raccoon City."

She frowned slightly, not knowing the laws of this world, before deciding to tell the truth. "My mother left it to me before she passed."

"Oh, I see…" he said, "Sorry." He apologized.

"It's fine, Marv…" she ignored the twitch of his eyebrow at her new nickname for him, "My parents died the day I was born, so I've had seventeen years to come to peace with their deaths."

"You're seventeen?" He asked, a little shocked, she guessed it was because she looked older. She was shorter than his six-one, at a solid five-ten, but her figure was that of at least a twenty-six year old.

"Yeah, why?" She wondered, figuring it wouldn't hurt to see if her hunch was right.

"You look older than normal girls your age." He responded, before clearing his throat, "Anyway, you should go."

Nodding, Natsuki walked over to the taped up box, unsheathed her ninjato, and cut a vertical slit through the tape on the door to the box. Pulling it open when she had enough leverage, before flipping the switch inside, watching as the gate rose into the ceiling.

Walking through, she ignored the ammo on the bench, having zero need for it, as she made her way around the divider that walled off half of the room at the back, where a door sat behind it, opening the door she peered down the hallway, seeing it empty.

Slipping in, she began making her way through the hall, being as quiet as possible, once she reach a the end it turned at a ninety degree angle to the right, placing her back to the wall just before the turn, she peeked around the corner, seeing another hallway that was blocked off by miscellaneous junk, a double doors to her right, with windows to her left, the undead shambling around outside.

Moving the door, she gently pushed it open, only to wince when it made a loud creak, she cursed mentally when she heard multiple groans from behind her, turning she saw a dead woman tumble in through the only unboarded window, followed by a fat, bald man. Pushing her way into the room as more entered the building, she scanned the room for an escape incase she got over run, finding one in a opened window that lead to another hallway where a fat man in the RPD outfit she associated with Marvin's job. He was banging on a tall metal box that had what looked to be snacks inside.

"Guess he's hungry…" she remarked as she returned her attention to the door that was being bashed down, ignoring the disappointed groan from Kurama at her joke. The door was soon forced open with a loud "bang" as the corpses began piling in, it was significantly more than she was expecting.

"Can I kill them all?" She asked herself, unsure if she could pull this off in her weakened state. 'Dimension travel is a bitch.' She cursed in her mind.

'Kit, this is too many…' Kurama sounded worried.

'How many?' She asked him, taking multiple steps back, before climbing onto the box just below the window she scouted earlier.

'Give me a moment…' Kurama said, falling silent for a couple of seconds, 'I count thirty. Way above what you can handle at the moment.'

'I can't just leave them here. What if Leon or that girl Claire come through and die to them?'

'I don't know, Kit. But this is way too many for you in your current state.'

'Maybe I can thin them?' She mused, preparing her ninjato as a undead man approached her, she then swung her sword in a perfect horizontal slice, splitting his head in half, before redirecting it mid swing to cut an undead woman down diagonally, only to swing it upward vertically to slash through another undead man. She continued cutting down the small army of undead as they backed her closer and closer to the window that marked her escape.

She counted roughly eighteen left, meaning she'd nearly cut their numbers in half, she cut down another two undead, and jumped back to avoid a lunge from a third, causing her to hit back first against the wall. She then lightly pushed off the wall to plunge her ninjato into a woman's head, simultaneously using her left foot to crush the skull of the man who had lunged at her.

She ripped her sword from the woman's head, taking the appendage with it, as she decapitated another undead, inadvertently sending both body-less heads careening into the crowd of undead still shambling towards her, with them both bouncing a couple of times before they stopped.

Taking this chance to leave, she slipped through the window behind her, just as the remaining thirteen tried to climb through after her. She landed softly on the ground, and collapsed to a knee, breathing heavily, how much did dimension travel affect her?

'For what it's worth, I'm proud of you, Kit.

For how long you lasted, even with your massive handicap.' Kurama praised her in her mind.

'Thanks, but we're not done yet.' She replied, looking up to see the fat man from before, still banging on the metal box filled with snacks.

"Hungry fatass?" She muttered to herself, as she got to her feet, before creeping behind the overweight corpse, her still unsheathed ninjato at the ready, and in one swift action, she plunged her sword through the back of his skull, accidentally skewering one of the snacks inside, caking the rest in the undead man's blood.

Pulling her sword free from both the metal box, and the corpse, she turned around, seeing a short hallway that turned to the left at the end, two doors, one on the right wall, the other on the left wall just before the turn to the left.

Looking at the floor, she found another man laying down on his back, in front of the door on the right, Kurama's confirmation of his brain being active told her to be wary of approaching him.

Taking slow steps towards the prone undead, she stepped parallel to his head, making sure she had a good few feet between them, positioning her sword vertically above his head, she sunk it into the undeads face, his eyes opening to stare into hers, the brief flash of hunger that flashed through them made her involuntarily shiver.

"I've fought some monsters in my original world…" Natsuki began, thoughts of Orochimaru, Kabuto, Madara, Pain, Tobi, Kaguya, and many others flashed through her mind. "But they can't compare to these."

'One of these with an intelligent mind would be fascinating.' Kurama remarked in her mind.

'Fascinating? Don't you mean terrifying?' Natsuki asked, feeling another shiver crash through her at the thought.

'Nothing scares me…' he trailed off, before shivering at a memory of a time when he truly passed off Naruko, too much pink, and he hates dinosaurs now. 'Almost nothing scares me…' he muttered, causing Natsuki to snicker, having an idea of what he meant.

'Which room should I search first?'

'What's in the room on the left?' Kurama asked. Natsuki shrugged and went up to the window to look inside.

'Looks like an armory of some kind.' She said.

'Then go in, there's no telling what there can be of use to use.' Kurama order.

Nodding, Natsuki turned the knob and opened the door, walking in and looking at the lock mechanism thing in front of her, it had multiple buttons labeled with letters and numbers, she noticed that some were missing.

Deciding to leave it for a moment, she stepped around it, and looked through each lockup, spotting a knife, something called "Gunpowder" and a large pouch with the letters RPD on it, the white letters contrasting the navy blue of the pouch.

There was stuff on the other side, but she had no idea what they were. There was another lockup at the back but it was locked by a different mechanism than the others. She saw a strange weapon inside, it was L-shaped, and looked like you were supposed to hold it from the shorter portion.

"There's nothing in here of use." She remarked, sounding dejected.

'Nothing you can do about it. Let's go check the other room.' Kurama suggested.

Natsuki nodded, turning and walking back to the door, going across the hall to peek into the other room. "There's a couple of undead in her, they're either playing dead, or just not moving." She whispered.

'Yeah, and I can't see anything of use in here, plus that door should lead back to the main area where that human, Marvin, is.'

'So we should move on?' She asked mentally.

'Yes, Kurama responded, go up stairs and see where that leads you.'

Nodding, she gently closed the door and crept to the stairs that turned right halfway up, ascending them silently, she jumped in shock when the glass in the window at the bottom of the stairs shattered and an undead tumbled in. "Fuck." Was all she could mutter as she watched an undead man on the second floor come around the corner and walk towards the railing, promptly falling over it to the floor below.

She blinked at the undead as it slowly stood up, its beady eyes locking onto her as it began to stagger its way to the stairs. "What am I? Chopped liver?" She asked out loud with a half-shrug, getting a snort from Kurama in her mind.

The undead clearly didn't get the bad joke, so she just readied her sword, prepared to take them out one by one, the undead who barged in through the window found her ninjato down his throat, as she pushed him down the stairs, using the weight of his body to remove her sword from his tumbling corpse, which promptly knocked the second undead over, they both began to get up and she sighed.

"Aim for the brain, Natsuki, aim for the brain."

Refocusing her attention on the two, she descended the stairs, swiping her sword in a horizontal swing, decapitating both undead, before flicking the blood off and sheathing the sword.

Her job done, she turned and ascended the stairs again, seeing an undead woman sitting next to the corner, directly across from the top of the stairs she just climbed, a swift plunge of her sword ended the undead before it even knew she was there. Turning to her right, she found that she had two options.

The first was to head straight and enter a doorway on the right wall, the second was to turn right just before the door and ascend a second staircase. Shrugging she walked forward and gripped the door knob, only to be blown back when the wall shattered, sending debris everywhere, while she once again felt her throat grabbed in mid-air.

"Not… you… again…" She wheezed out, seeing the familiar face of the gray man she met when she first awoke. He looked at her for a moment, seemingly judging her, all the while he strangled her to the point she was having difficulty breathing. "Put… me… down…" She gasped, her words nothing more than a squeak in this monster's grasp, her legs kicking him fruitlessly.

He titled his head once as he regarded her, before he threw her on the ground, she half expected him walk away as he had turned around, only for her eyes to widen in shock and horror when he grabbed the rest of the wall he came through and pushed it on top of her prone form, sending her into unconsciousness. Her last thought being. 'Asshole...'
