He wanted to leave this particular conversation for a bit later, once the new arrivals had managed to settle in, but that was not possible. Especially thanks to Arachne, she proved herself to be quite a bright mind, even if it was to the detriment of his closest colleague, Persephone. Once the questions were asked and an explanation about the events, that occurred, was provided by Aphrodite, Persephone soon realized that something was amiss, how could she not, given that her relationship with her mother was a close one.
And his colleague was also a highly intelligent and inquisitive individual, therefore it took her only a few moments, to realize that her mother, Demeter, might have been in danger. Which he could do nothing else, but confirm. While Aphrodite did not stay long enough at Olympus, after Xemha took over it, it was unlikely that Demeter was capable of escaping herself, given her condition.
Thus Persephone reacted highly volatilaly to the news.
To learn that not all of the Olympians were completely self-centered, was not so shocking, the point in the case being Persephone and Hades. But perhaps my judgment has been skewed disproportionally based on the other Olympians I knew. Athena and Artemis were outright hostile towards my person, while Zeus and Poseidon were completely ruled by their desires.
But apparently, there was at least one more Olympian, bar Aphrodite, who was somewhat reasonable if not outright benevolent individual. That being Demeter, Persephone's mother, or rather a creator as all of the Olympians were made, first-generation by Aphrodite and second by their predecessors.
For this reason, it was quite inconvenient, that Demeter along with the rest of the Olympians, was now likely puppeteered by the primordial Xemha. As Aphrodite explained, the primordial takeover of Olympus included making the bodies of Olympians his physical vessels in the human world, while their cores, were very likely lost.
The last part though was not exactly verified by Aphrodite as she bailed Olympus as soon as Xemha revealed himself to her, puppeteering Zeus's body. There were certainly some similarities between Xemha and Being X, not to mention it was highly suspicious, that both chose Zeus as their avatar. Moreover, that form was the one I interacted with Being X the most during my second life.
Despite not wanting to jump to a conclusion, which might be misleading in the end, I could not dismiss this suspicious coincidence.
"Now what?"
"I have no idea,"
"You still wanna travel the world, Eury?"
"Yes, but..."
"Don't want to risk dying, right?"
"Or something worse,"
"Or something worse... Damn it! Those Olympians and their kin sure to love to f * ck up everything!"
"...Yes... But we would not have existed, as we are, without them messing things up,"
"...I know..."
"I think we should stay here a while. Get to know this little Medusa a bit,"
"Yeah, she seems like a nice kid, maybe a bit too meek compared to our Medusa. Then again, her being named Medusa and her looks, must mean something,"
"Exactly! And we should also get to know her friend Arachne since they are quite close,"
"Sure, let's get to know Arachne as well, preferably very closely, right Eury?"
"Of course!"
"You are shameless!"
He had terribly failed. He failed everyone. The Golden Fleece had gone wild, as he failed his quest to recover it and Nike was dead. And despite the explanations and pleas to King Pelias about the dangers of the monster that the shiny wool turned out to be, the king never believed him, no matter how much he and his men pleaded, or how many of them bowed their heads. King Pelias did not listen to them, instead, he drove them out. The king just refused to heed their warnings about a monster that the golden fleece become!
And so he and his men went their separate ways, each to their home after they promised that they would warn everyone about the Golden Fleece, that they would spread the world in every temple since the gods must have their ears for the humans' pleas at least in one of them, since he and his friends, despite being strong were not that strong to face the monster. They all agreed on that with surprising clarity, not even the ever-boastful Pollux thought that he could take the Golden Fleece.
And now Jason was alone, owning nothing besides his clothes and Argo as his new home.
She was getting annoyed, by all the messages that were popping up right one after another. For her Father's sake, did those humans not realize that she was in the middle of quite an entertaining activity? Apparently not! As the stream of neverending prayers grew more and more dire.
Which was something she could no longer ignore, and was forced to abandon her game of cat and mouse with the one remaining Olympian, who was for months trapped in the everchanging maze, she made out of Olympus.
"Don't run anywhere, my little plaything, I'll be right back," she said in a haunting voice, frightening the Olympian.
Not like he could run anywhere even if he wanted, the whole area of Olympus was locked down and there was no escape. However, her cute plaything did not know that, and she was not ready to end his suffering just yet. Why did she find it entertaining anyway? Her Father certainly did not make her like this.
Regardless, she checked the messages that humans so desperately send here and found out that something did indeed happen and it might require her attention. Apparently, there was some kind of monster-creature, made by Olympians and capable of hurting them. The human messages stated it killed one Olympian named Nike. Too bad, she could not play with this Olympian as well, maybe this Nike could have provided a bit of a different kind of entertainment.
And while she doubted that the monster creature would pose even a droplet of a problem to her Father, she was not so sure about her dumb siblings. What if that thing could hurt them, wouldn't that make her Father sad? She had no doubt it would.
Moreover, as the oldest of her Father's children, she had the responsibility to make sure that her siblings would stay safe. But at the same time, she rather not let her plaything run around unattended for too long. Perhaps it was time to stop playing nice?
Either way, she did not know where the thing, the Golden Fleece, was and so she sent several of her lesser siblings to scout for the location of the monster-creature. Meanwhile, she still had a game of cat and mouse to finish with her little trapped Olympian.
