"I didn't do it!" Qin Jue's eyes were welling with tears as she vehemently defended herself. "Sir, you may doubt me, but you shouldn't rely solely on the word of a passerby. The person who is making these accusations is clearly trying to tarnish the reputation of our Qin family!"
Mr. Qin, with a furrowed brow, seemed lost in thought, weighing the situation carefully.
Qin Ju was acutely aware of her grandfather's obsession with maintaining face and reputation. This awareness only heightened her sense of urgency.
Feng Lan, sensing the tension, interjected hastily, "Why is it that people always talk about others but never about you?"
Su Yun, standing nearby, retorted sharply, "Are you done yet? Who exactly is spreading these rumors? Bring them here for a proper confrontation. If you can't present anyone, then your claims are nothing more than baseless chatter!"
Feng Lan faltered, struggling to find a response. Her voice wavered as she said, "I heard it from others. Everyone is saying..."
Old Master Qin's gaze turned steely as he addressed the Third Old Lady, "Do you have specific names? Who exactly told you this?"
"Father, I, I overheard it at the grocery store," Feng Lan stammered, her voice barely a whisper, "They were discussing all the details..."
Tears brimmed in Qin Ju's eyes as she spoke with a mixture of hurt and frustration. "Aunt, I realize Xiao Shi and I have dined at your place a few times recently, which may have upset you. But surely, this is no reason to besmirch my character. If this scandal spreads, it will reflect poorly on the entire Qin family. As a member of our family, how can you do this?"
Feng Lan, now visibly distressed, struggled to comprehend how the situation had escalated to this point.
At this juncture, Old Master Qin began to piece together the recent events. He recalled that the Third Old Lady had indeed invited family members to dine at the front yard, but had it been her dissatisfaction with the girls that led to these accusations?
With a sharp edge to his voice, Old Master Qin declared, "From now on, no one is to spread such unfounded rumors!"
Feng Lan, disheartened, nodded in agreement, her head hanging low.
Despite his anger and disappointment, Mr. Qin chose not to lay blame on the Third Old Lady's family. With a final, terse admonition, he stood up and left, adhering to his usual practice of minimizing conflicts and avoiding offering any words of comfort to Qin Ju.
Feeling disillusioned, Qin Ju turned her tear-streaked face toward her father, Qin Zhonghui.
Qin Zhonghui understood the silent plea in his daughter's eyes. The recent turmoil had only solidified his resolve. He was determined not to let his children suffer any further injustice.
Clearing his throat, Qin Zhonghui spoke up, "Father, Mother, I went to the county hospital today for a check-up on my hand. The doctor has advised that I need surgery."
Mr. Qin was momentarily taken aback, while the Old Lady beside him exclaimed in alarm, "It's that serious?"
The hands of Qin Zhonghui, still bandaged, obscured the severity of his condition from view.
Qin Jiqun and his wife were also stunned. Concern was evident in Qin Jiqun's voice as he asked, "Second Brother, is there a chance for your hand to heal?"
"Yes, but it requires surgery," Qin Zhonghui replied, his voice steady despite the gravity of his words. "The procedure will cost one thousand yuan."
Having delivered his prepared statement, Qin Zhonghui exhaled deeply and awaited the reaction of his father and siblings.
Despite his frustration over the earlier incident, Qin Zhonghui clung to a sliver of hope. He believed that, at the very least, his father and brothers would show some concern. Over the years, he had contributed significantly to the family finances, including his substantial share in the payment for the new tiled house in the front yard.
However, as he observed the indifference in his father's eyes and the stunned expressions of his third brother and sister-in-law, a wave of disillusionment washed over him.
Su Yun, standing quietly beside her two daughters, kept her silence, waiting to gauge their response to the unfolding situation.
The room was thick with a heavy silence, broken only by the occasional rustling of clothing or the shuffling of feet. Qin Xiaotao, who was completely unaware of the gravity of the situation, flicked a glass ball absentmindedly. It hit an iron bucket with a loud clang that shattered the uneasy quietness that had settled over the group.
Old Master Qin, sitting at the head of the table, furrowed his brows deeply. "What kind of surgery costs so much money?" His voice carried a mix of concern and confusion. In their village, a thousand yuan was a significant amount. It was a large sum for any family, especially when few people earned more than ten thousand yuan a month.

I will upload 2 more chapters and then wait !!! . If this novel gets good response then I will continue or else I have draft for two more novel . I have completed this novel already, about 500 chapters ! I think this should be a good length.hmm..at lest for the first work .
The 1st novel is of quick transmigration genre . I don't know how the views will be as there are a very little amount of quick transmigration ( not BL) novel on webnovel . Its a female protagonist novel , being a mother ,rescuing children and giving them a good home . It's a one of a kind , I guess .let me know if there's any scope for this kind of novel . I am still thinking should I keep a system or not ? Let me know , if you read this rant on mine .
The 2nd one is also a quick transmigration genre novel . Here the protagonist is a female, but can be a male too , I read a novel where the female transmigrates through worlds but is turned into a male , then her orientation also changes from originally liking men to liking women . It got me the idea of female turing into male characters (and female characters too) and going through the quick transmigration.
If you read this , let me know which one you like and which should I start first . I am thinking of wring 1 Arc for both and waiting to see the results!! Wish me luck!!luv...
