Lisan slowly opens his eyes. It doesn't take him long to realize that he's not laying on the bed. He took a
guess that it's the floor in which he's on. It couldn't be anything more than him falling off the bed in his
sleeps, right? All these thoughts arose in his mind within less than 5 seconds but, it was interrupted by a
disgusting smell. He sees something red infront of him. He rubs his eyes only to realize that everything,
including his own body's a disaster. He eyes are irritating as his vision has turned red. He still manages
too recognize 2 faces.
'Old man...? What's wrong? Why are you sleeping on the floor'
He approaches his father to slowly realize he's gone. Like, long gone! Same is for his mother. He loses
himself for a while. But he's not worried.
'Well, | guess now I'm free...'
He suddenly starts losing balance of his body. That's when he felt a pain under his feet and fell. He
realizes he steps on something and that's when he screamed louder than he ever did.
Everyone in the room is in tears. Some are loud, some are quiet. But among them, there's one who's not
the same. Lisan's not crying but is staring at the broken figure he's holding in his hands. He stands up and
all the eyes turn towards him. He leaves the room. The room he was in just a moment ago is actually the
room where his parents' dead bodies are kept which will be buried soon enough. But he, being their son,
doesn't even care.
'Why should | care if those damn old people drop dead? All they did was torturing me' he thinks. He's
heading to his house where they were assassinated. His parents weren't any big timer politician or
something that someone should assassinate them anyway. He's heading there for clues. 'Those
investigators are gonna just suck up all your money and in the end you'll know nothing'. He reaches the
main road. Then, calls a rickshaw driver screaming, 'Mama! | need a ride!'
~-'To where?'
He tells the location, doesn't negotiate the fare and gets on it. He notices a man staring towards him. But
he doesn't think much of it. He has got no feeling of sorrow. All he's feeling is agony. He reaches his flat.
It's covered with tapes with text on them. 'Crime Scene. Do not cross. -Bangladesh Police' He enters
anyway. He sees a chalk outline of two dead bodies. He gets a detective vibe and puts his pointer finger
on the dried blood, that's when two officers put their hands on his shoulder.
'Are you illiterate?'
Lisan doesn't reply but stares with a keen sight.
'Then why did you enter a crime sight when it's prohibited?"
-'And it's allowed to smoke in here? Whatever. In the end, I'll never get to kick the culprit's ass if | rely on
you scumbags'
'This kid has got guts!"
Things were about to get ugly but an another officer's entry stops it from happening. His name tag said
'Sadek'. Surely, he was a senior as the other 2 became so formal even though the other two were
definitely older. He was actually a nice guy convincing him to leave.
'Heck! If this continues, I'll never get the revenge for my figure that he broke! Even though | don't know
if the murderer is a guy or not'
The figure was actually a gift from his best friend who died long ago. He's not a bright person though.
He's got rage but not rationality. But he again sees the same guy from before staring at him to the death.
'Wait a minute. How did that guy slash girl enter the flat anyway?'
He hears a car's sound. Anyways, he returns to the building, takes the lift. He was so lost in his thoughts
that he didn't notice that a woman was telling him not to close the lift's door untill the last second.
'Well, whatever ' he thinks. 'They can call the lift back anyway, why should | give a damn' However, the
woman was hell-bent and somehow managed to hit the button before the doors closed. Her hard
breathing made him feel like he's standing infront of dog ( y'know, dogs make a really keen sound like
sighing) A guy follows him with a huge camera. It took him a while to notice that the lady was holding a
mic. He hit the button with '5' on it. They get in but don't even choose a floor. Well, they must've come
to cover his parents'. They reach the floor but the woman leaves the lift first pushing him aside. They talk
to the officers who were smoking outside of his apartment. He moves towards the apartment anyway
without giving a damn but gets caught this time. An officer grabs him collar, pulls him back harshly
leading him to fall on the floor. All four of them were looking at him like they were looking at some kind
of pest.
'Who's that kid anyway?' asks the reporter to the officer. He gets up and gets in the lift.
'Well, he's supposedly the victims' child'
The reporter turns to him but this time, her attitude towards him have absolutely changed.
'Wait, sir!' she screams but he didn't. The lift starts moving and before he knew it, it hit the ground. He
keeps quiet and was about to leave the building because he knows that he might lose himself. But
suddenly the cameraman comes infront of him. He turns back and sees the woman taking long breaths.
'Please sir, we've got some questions to ask'
~'Get lost'
The reporter and the cameraman turned into a stone. They start thinking, 'In my entire career, I've seen
a boy like this. Bangladeshi people fight to stand infront of a camera hoping to be in TV. And he rejected
the offer to be a main spotlight guy if a news that might hit international level!"
They force him and finally he agrees.
'What actually happened sir?"
~'| woke and saw my old people dead' he replied with no emotion. As expected, they were shocked.
'Oh! | feel sorry for you!' she replied even though she isn't sorry at all! 'Who do you think did this
heinous thing?'
~'Dunno'
'What are you feelings sir?"
-'Well, | don't really care. But | have a reason of my own to investigate because | can't rely on some
scumbags who literally left the control room wide open after taking it over!' He points his finger towards
the control room and realizes the officers actually followed them. One of them left the place with a
unsatisfied face. The reporter takes the mic infront of herself and starts delivering informations available
yet. He leaves and crosses a long distance. But suddenly he hears a horn sound and it was too late....
Lisan wakes up in a comfy room. He sees a man leaving the room. But the nurse stops him by saying, 'Sir,
he's conscious!' The guy turns towards him with a smile. That's when he starts to see things clearly. It's
'Sadek'. He sits on a tool next to him.
'Well, you might be confused, but I'm extremely sorry.'
He really is confused so doesn't give a answer. He looks at the calendar in the wall to realize that, it's
been 3 days!
'Well, your injuries weren't too serious but we still gave you medicines to keep you asleep untill you fully
heal.'
-'So?' he replies with no gratitude. Well, that's totally expected because it's that one police car they
came to visit his house hit him. It's probably done by that officer.
'We have already suspended the officer so don't worry' He gives a smile. 'Now here's a good news,
we've already found the culprit!'
His eyes exploded as he was shocked that they were so quick.
'It was less complicated than we thought. After post modem, we found an another person's blood on
you rparents' corpses. We took that sample and did a DNA test leading us to find the culprit.' He stops
after talking so long.
An awkward silence takes over the place.
'Aren't you gonna ask me who it is?' the officer finally speaks up.
-'Well, it's your duty to inform me.'
The officer giggles and says, 'It's your uncle. Mr. Jahangir.
He's not believing it, that's for sure. He's the nicest person he's ever seen. He loves him more than his
own parents. On top of that, he lives in an another division. It's impossible.
"It turns out to be a fight over a piece of land. Well, there's a old saying that, 'The cat benefits while the
rats are fighting among themselves' It's true for this case. Because, legally, you own...."
He couldn't finish it. While he was talking, __ left the bed, grabbed the pole holding the packet of saline
he was being ejected and striked his head with it.
With a raging voice he screams, 'Yeah? How much did they feed you? Lemme guess a 150 thousand?
Well, | don't care! You're telling me, he pissed (peed) blood? Cause he didn't have a single injury or
bruise on his body on the day | was hit!' A couple of constables grab him but he continues, 'On top of
that, how you'll explain him entering our apartment. Also, do you....' he couldn't finish either as a
constable hit his neck.
Lisan was sent to the rehabilitation center for violence against a police officer. Even though he's just 14,
everyone else couldn't musture up the courage to pick up a fight with him. Y'know, the common thing
that happens leading chances of death to increase. The next day, officer Sadek came. His got a few
bandages all over his head and Lisan's proud of it. The first thing he said was, 'Whom do you suspect?"
To his surprise, Lisan directly answered, 'A tall guy, with a mustache and a little beard right under his
chin'
~'Why?"
'I've seen him following me ever since my figure was broken'
-'You mean this?' Sadek shows him a transparent bag with a seal, 'Evidence' on it containing a broken
figure of a boy
'| didn't know polices steal'
-'Is this your so-called reason to investigate on your own?"
'So? You proved me right in the end anyway.'
Sadek replies, 'I'll take the blame for that.' He again asks, 'Where did you get this?'
-'My late best friend gave me' Lisan replies
Sadek giggle and says, 'You sure about that?' He brings out a similar but bigger bag but it has two broken
figures in it. Lisan is startled. One of those figure is of a middle aged guy while the other is a middle aged
woman. They don't have that much of detail but these two are bigger than the one Lisan had. Just
looking at them confirms that... they were a set?
'Your other family members told me you made it yourself.' Sadek continues. Lisan holds head with both
of his hands. His eyes are so wide open they come out. His face is drenching from tears. He's trembling.
Sadek adds, 'You made this as a gift for your parents' marriage anniversary didn't you?' Lisan screams,
'Stop it!' He starts seeing hazy things that he's sure has never happened to him! He starts trembling even
more. Sadek's attitude changes. He gently grabs him, gives him a warm hug and says, 'You don't have to
hide your feeling forever.' Lisan starts crying louder than ever. Sadek pats his back gently. After a while,
Lisan calms down a bit. He speaks up with a trembling voice, 'My parents weren't abusive! They just
used to correct my mistake and | just couldn't take that! Best friend? | never had one! | just...' He
doesn't finish. Cause there's no need for it. Sadek already knows the truth.
'I'm sure they'll definitely forgive you!'
A few days ago,
Sadek's injuries aren't healed but he feels the urge to investigate the place by himself. There wasn't
anything unusual except a ton of medicines! Later on he searched the cabinet where he found a lot of
medical prescription. Those were from a... psychologist! He decides to meet the doctor. However, the
entire puzzle solver when Sadek found a pretty old document.
He meets the doctor leading him find out that Lisan is suffering from mental diseases due to too much
stress. There were multiple cases where his personality totally changed and later on he couldn't
remember a thing about it. In other words, he had a split personality. Sadek left the chamber.
And the other document? It was from seven years ago! It's about a 'Bone Narrow Transplant'! Where the
donator is Jahangir Mazumder' and the patient is, 'Lisan Mazumder'!
[Bone Narrow Transplant leads to the patient having the same bloodline elements as the donator]
Sadek realizes what actually happened that day. Lisan lost his personality and was being controlled
totally by his stress and agony leading him to attack his parents, barehand. Which got him several
injuries too which lead his parents' body having his blood on them. And in the end, the place was huge
mess and they passed out. And when Lisan woke up, he was too shocked that he couldn't even react
properly. He still wanted to avenge them so used that broken toy as a excuse. Due to his mental diseases,
he imagined that his 'best friend' gave him that figure as a birthday present.
A cold breeze blows by. Nothing can be heard except a voice which is crying, and seeking forgiveness.
Lisan is on his knees right next to his parents grave. And Sadek is standing right next to him. He's totally
silent. Lisan stands up. He's ready to leave. But before that he leaves his words,
'Mom. Dad. | had opportunity but | destroyed it. | never got to say, | love you!'
Mr. Jahangir Alam actually knew what was happening but he stayed quiet to let his nephew live. Later
on, he was freed. Lisan was sent to a mental health rehabilitation center. The government is covering all
the costs. It's yet to decide whether he'll be punished or not.
But, what do you think?
-The End-
