An Absurd Scene

Chi Chali subtly hinted at Chi He to hand over the ledger.

Chi He lowered his head and smiled. "Second Uncle, are you still treating me like a naive teenager?"

The importance of this ledger was evident from the lengths Chi Chali was willing to go, even arranging an assassin at his own birthday banquet. With the ledger in hand, Chi He could negotiate anything he wanted. If he handed it over, he might as well be signing his own death warrant.

Chi Chali never truly expected Chi He to give up the ledger. His mockery was just a way to vent his frustration.

"You've grown wings and no longer see your Second Uncle in your eyes. There's nothing I can do about it."

Chi Chali took a deep drag of his cigar, extinguishing the stub as his eyes lifted. The feigned affection on his face vanished, leaving only a sharp and scrutinizing gaze.

"Let's get to the point. What do you want from me? Shares in the company? Or perhaps some of my vanity projects?"
