A Reunion Destined

Qi Zhao was absent-minded, a fact that did not escape Qi Chongming's attention.

Though Qi Zhao had spent the evening fully composed, greeting each guest introduced by Qi Chongming with due respect, and even exchanging a few harmless pleasantries, his wandering gaze betrayed his detachment.

Qi Chongming caught him scanning the crowd for the third time, and with an arched brow, followed his gaze. "Who are you looking for?"

Qi Zhao retracted his gaze instantly, his voice cool. "No one. I'm a bit tired. If there are no other plans, I'll be leaving now."

Qi Chongming watched his retreating figure, frowning deeply. Qi Zhao had returned to the Qi family for almost a month now. As agreed, he had joined the company and applied himself diligently in every aspect. Yet, Qi Chongming felt there was something amiss—as though Qi Zhao's body was here, but his spirit wandered elsewhere.
