Shut up, Amara thought, trying to push the system's voice out of her mind. There was no way she was fascinated by Elara. Sure, Elara was impressive annoyingly so but that didn't mean anything. Amara had a job to do: keep Elara safe from Eirik, make sure she joined the family business, and move on with her life. Nothing more. Definitely nothing involving fascination.
The rest of the afternoon blurred by in a chaotic whirl of ridiculous challenges. After the bug fiasco, things only got worse. They were put through an obstacle course involving oversized inflatables that looked like something out of a fever dream. Devon had slipped at least three times, Zack faceplanted into a giant rubber donut, and somehow, Elara had managed to glide through it all with the kind of grace that made Amara's left eye twitch.
