The figure, radiating an almost painful intensity, halted a few feet away from the stunned group. Dust still swirled around him, kicked up by his powerful jutsu, obscuring his face like a veil.
Then, a voice, familiar, cut through the buzzing silence. "Naruto..."
As if something miraculously or perhaps just the sheer force of the moment, pushed the remaining dust aside. The figure was revealed fully. It was none other than Sasuke, his dark hair falling over intense, determined eyes, his usual aloofness momentarily replaced by a raw, powerful presence.
Naruto didn't hesitate. With a guttural cry of pure relief and fury, he lunged forward. "Sasuke!" he roared, wrapping Sasuke in a fierce, bone-crushing hug. "Teme! I told you to get over here! What were you thinking?!"
Sasuke grunted, caught off guard by the force of the embrace, but didn't push him away.
Neji rushed forward and asked Sasuke. "Sasuke!" he gasped, his voice trembling. "Hinata-sama...? Hinata-sama, where is she?!" His gaze darted frantically behind Sasuke, searching.
Sasuke, still partially caught in Naruto's hug, just turned his head slightly, a small gesture of his chin towards the new opening in the rock. "There," he said, his voice a bit hoarse.
Without another word, Neji, closely followed by Lee and the rest of the group – Sakura, Ino, Tenten, and Karin – surged forward through the newly blasted gap in the boulder. They rushed into the other side of the cavern, the air still hazy with lingering dust.
Through the settling grey, two figures slowly came into view. Hinata was there, slumped against the cold rock wall, motionless but sitting upright, her breathing shallow but steady. Right behind her, huddled protectively, was Mini Sasuke, his small eyes were wide, but clear.
"Hinata-sama...!" Neji exclaimed, rushing forward. He immediately went to gently scoop her up.
"She's unconscious," Mini Sasuke clarified, his voice small but firm, having already assessed her state.
Just as Neji was about to lift Hinata, Lee stepped forward, placing a gentle, firm hand on Neji's shoulder. "Wait, Neji..." he said softly, his voice full of understanding. "I'll do it."
Knowing Neji's own strained condition, Lee carefully, but with great strength, bent down and gently lifted Hinata into his arms.
With Hinata safely cradled by Lee, and Mini Sasuke clinging close to Sasuke, the entire group, together again, moved back through the blasted opening in the rock, returning to the main side of the cavern.
They were all reunited, battered and shaken, but finally, miraculously, together.
Lee carefully, almost reverently, lowered Hinata to the ground. Sakura dropped to her knees beside her, checking Hinata's pulse and breathing with practiced precision.
Her cheeks were still wet with tears, but the tension in her face slowly eased.Ino knelt beside her, ready to assist without a word.
The cavern still crackled faintly with the scent of crushed stone, but it was soon filled with a chorus of relieved voices.
Naruto, his voice thick with emotion, broke the silence. "Thank goodness!" His arm was still slung around Sasuke's shoulders, a dust-covered grin stretched across his face.
"I was seriously freaking out back there! And you—Sasuke—you actually tore through that boulder like it was nothing! That was insane!"
Sasuke just let out a low grunt, flicking his head slightly to shake off dust from his hair.
"Hm."
Sakura, still checking Hinata, looked up, her voice trembling slightly. "Sasuke-kun… you scared us so much. We thought we'd lost you." Her eyes were red but filled with quiet joy.
Lee, still standing tall, struck a familiar pose. "Ah! The power of Youth and determination has overcome even the heaviest of obstacles! A true testament to our bond!"
Ino was gently brushing dust from Hinata's cheek while sakura was checking in Hinata.
Naruto laughed lightly now, still caught in the moment. "I swear, that boulder was the size of a house! You didn't just break through—you demolished it dattebayo! Isn't that the jutsu you used the last time when we were still back in our time?"
Sasuke them nodded and said, "You are right."
Mini Sasuke, who hadn't moved an inch from his older self's side since the moment of rescue, looked up at his older self. He hadn't let go of Sasuke's shirt even once.
His small hand was holding the side of his shirt tightly near his waist. His hold was firm, as if letting go would mean being left behind in the dark forever.
Sakura's eyes narrowed sharply as she noticed the movement. "Wait—Sasuke-kun! Your foot—what happened?" She leaned in closer. "It's bleeding... and it looks twisted!"
Naruto's grin faded instantly. "What?! Are you serious?" Mini Sasuke stepped forward, pointing to the injury. "His leg was stuck under the boulder. He couldn't move it."
Ino didn't waste a second. "Hold still. Let me take a look." She pressed her hands gently to the injury and was checking it. Then green healing chakra glowing softly as she focused. "Yeah… it's bad, but nothing I can't handle."
She laughed.
Lee, crouching beside them, turned his gaze toward Mini Sasuke. "Young Sasuke-kun, you were trapped on the other side with two unconscious people and not knowing whether they were alive or not. That must've been very difficult. Tell us—what happened over there?"
Mini Sasuke looked around, suddenly aware of all the attention. He took a breath, trying to sound braver than he felt. "It was dark. Dust everywhere. I couldn't see anything. And then… this older self if mine wouldn't wake up!"
He looked at Sasuke then said, "I slapped him. Over and over!" Naruto let out a loud laugh. "You slapped him? Are you serious?!"
"Yeah!" Mini Sasuke snapped, clearly offended by the laughter. "I thought he was dead! And then he told me I was useless!"
Sasuke, still focused on the healing, muttered quietly. "I never said that."
"You did. Though it was not direct you meant that only!" Mini Sasuke shot back. "I thought I was going to be stuck there forever! Usurantokachi kept shouting through the wall, but no one would listened... except me."
Sakura let out a giggle, covering her mouth with her hand. Even Neji, usually serious, had a faint smile on his lips.
Naruto snorted, remembering. "Didn't you call him a 'worthless piece of trash'? I heard that!"
Mini Sasuke nodded furiously. "He wasn't moving! I had to beg him to wake up! I even told him I hated him!"
Ino gave a soft laugh. "You poor thing… That must've been terrifying." Mini Sasuke crossed his arms. "And when he finally woke up, he threatened me! He said, 'I dare you to slap me again!'" Naruto gasped, "Teme! You woke up and threatened a kid?!"
Sasuke opened one eye, casting a cold glare at Naruto. "He was hitting me." Mini Sasuke stomped his foot. "You were unconscious! I thought you were dead! Didn't you also thought that Usurantokachi?"
"I never thought he was dead!" Naruto shouted, flailing. "I thought that he wouldn't be able to make it! That's different!"
Then Naruto said quietly, "I mean that would be hard to imagine if he wasn't there...."
The cavern filled with overlapping voices—laughing, bickering, storytelling. Sakura finally let out a real, joyful laugh. Neji leaned quietly against the wall, a look of rare peace in his eyes.
Tenten stood near the edge, silent but smiling softly. Karin, nearby, said nothing, but her sharp gaze darted from Sasuke to the others, watching carefully, her thoughts unreadable.
Eventually, the laughter settled.
Neji stepped forward, his voice calm and authoritative. "Enough for now. We're all here. Alive. That alone is something to be thankful for."
He looked around the group. "But we're injured, low on chakra, and tired. We'll rest here. Just for a while. Regain our strength."
A heavy silence followed his words—one filled not with fear, but shared relief.
They had made it through. Together.
The cave was completely quiet now.
Everyone was so tired after the terrifying event — it had taken everything out of them.
The shouting, the tears, the pain — all of it had left them completely drained, in every way.
They had all fallen asleep, one by one, into a deep and dreamless sleep from being so tired. The cave around them was wide and open, with a flat area of solid ground where they now rested.
In the middle of this area was a huge, broken boulder. Its shattered pieces were scattered all over. Near this giant rock, there was a clear, round hole going deep into it — a quiet sign of the damage the earth had gone through.
The cave walls around them were rough and curved, twisting into different shapes. Some parts were raised, creating natural places that felt safe and hidden.
Not far from the others, Neji and Lee lay side by side on the ground, stretched out.
Their heads were facing the quieter, outer part of the cave, and their feet were pointing toward the center where the others were. Both were in a deep sleep from exhaustion.
A little farther from them, Tenten had found her own spot to rest. She also lay flat on the ground, sleeping.
Closer together, lying near each other for comfort even while sleeping, were Hinata, Sakura, Ino, and Karin.
The four girls were lying in a line, stretched out, with their heads toward the darker part of the cave and their feet toward the more open area. They were all deeply asleep, trying to heal from their injuries and the emotional stress.
Near them were Naruto, Sasuke, and Mini Sasuke, lying close together, showing their strong bond.
Like the girls, they were lying straight, with their heads pointing toward the dark back of the cave and their feet toward the opening.
Naruto, who was usually full of energy, was now completely still in a deep sleep.
Sasuke, tired and still healing from his hurt ankle, didn't move either.
Mini Sasuke, who had been through a terrifying experience on his own, was finally safe beside the older Sasuke, able to rest at last in the quiet.
A bit farther away from the main group, Tenten lay sleeping by herself, stretched out on the ground.
Lee was deep in sleep, resting heavily after the difficult day. His body didn't move at all. He lay on the cold ground, taking long and peaceful breaths. The soft sound of his breathing echoed in the quiet cave.
This deep sleep was a break from all the fear and stress he had gone through.
Then, something small started to disturb his sleep. His eyes, still closed, twitched just a little — like something was trying to wake him up.
A soft touch brushed his cheek — so light it could've been the wind — but he noticed it.
Then, a quiet whisper reached his ears. It was barely louder than a breath. "Lee... Lee... Lee..." The voice was soft and urgent, pulling him slowly out of sleep.
He felt a gentle pressure on his shoulders, like someone was softly pushing him, trying to wake him. The whisper came again, a little clearer now and filled with worry. It was a girl's voice.
"Lee, wake up... Lee, wake up... See what is here."
With a deep, tired groan, Lee slowly opened his eyes. His eyelids felt heavy. He blinked a few times, trying to understand what he was seeing in the dark cave. Everything looked blurry, like he was looking through thick fog.
He tried to sit up, but his muscles ached and complained. As he pushed himself up, the blurry shape in front of him slowly became clear. To his surprise, it was Tenten leaning over him.
Her eyes were wide and full of worry. She looked right at him, her face tense and serious. "Thank goodness you're awake," Tenten whispered. Her voice was shaky, like she was trying not to sound scared. She had been gently pushing his shoulder to wake him, but now her hand moved and pointed behind her.
"Look behind me. See what it is."
Lee, still struggling against the heavy pull of sleep and deep tiredness, rubbed his eyes hard with the heels of his hands.
His vision was spinning, slowly trying to clear up. The cave's rough walls and the shapes of his sleeping friends slowly came into focus.
And then, at last, when the blur was gone, his eyes landed on what was behind Tenten.
Suddenly, his eyes went wide open. His whole body went stiff as a cold wave of fear rushed through him. Now he understood exactly what Tenten had been pointing at.
He let out a sharp, gasping sound — choked and shaky — breaking the silence of the cave. "What in the world is this?"
Lee's eyes, now fully awake and clear, stared at the spot where the solid cave wall was supposed to be behind Tenten. Just a short while ago, he remembered it clearly — a rough, solid wall of rock that closed off that part of the cave.
But now... it was gone. In its place was a huge, dark hole — wide and tall.
This wasn't just a small crack or opening. It was a massive tunnel, big enough for many people to walk through side by side without bending down.
Lee's eyes followed the tunnel's long, creepy path. It clearly led outside. But to his shock and rising fear, there was no light at all coming from it. The tunnel didn't let in even the faint light from the cave. Instead, it seemed to swallow all the light, becoming a deep, heavy darkness.
It didn't look like normal shadow. It looked unnaturally dark — like a black hole with no end.
A chill colder than the cave's air ran down Lee's spine. Something was wrong. Very wrong.
Lee's mind was spinning, his earlier fear now mixed with deep confusion. "What happened? Where did the cave wall go? I clearly remember it being there before we all went to sleep — solid and strong."
The thought pounded in his head, making him feel lost and unsure. He looked away from the dark tunnel and turned to Tenten's worried face.
"Tenten," Lee whispered, his voice soft. "How long has it been like this? Since the wall disappeared?"
Tenten's eyes moved quickly between Lee and the huge, black opening behind her.
"About fifteen minutes ago," she whispered back, her voice tight and nervous. "I woke up and noticed right away that the wall was gone. I tried to go in and see where it went, but it was way too dark. I couldn't see anything at all. So I came back..."
She paused to take a shaky breath. "And then I woke you up," she finished, her eyes still filled with worry.
Lee looked back at the darkness, but now a strange hope flickered in his chest. "Or maybe the gods gave us a chance… Maybe this hole in the cave could lead us out!"
The idea was sudden but strong, and it pushed away some of his fear, filling him with a new sense of purpose. He looked at Tenten, his eyes shining with determination.
"Come on," he said quietly but firmly. "Let's check it out first. Then we'll wake the others." Tenten nodded right away. She still looked worried, but she trusted him.
Without another word, the two of them stood up slowly, careful not to wake the others who were still fast asleep.
They took deep breaths, and then together, side by side, they walked toward the huge, dark hole — the tunnel that had suddenly appeared where the cave wall used to be. The heavy darkness swallowed them completely.
A slow, dull pain pulsed behind her eyes — like a quiet echo in the huge darkness around her. Little by little, a faint sense of awareness started to return, like water slowly filling an empty well.
She felt a soft warmth on her forehead — the gentle pressure of a hand resting there.
A quiet sigh, full of relief, seemed to float in the air nearby. With great effort, as if her eyelids were too heavy to lift, she slowly opened her eyes. Everything was blurry — just soft lights and shadows mixing together.
But her eyes, now visible, were a soft, pale lavender — almost white — with a small touch of deeper purple in the center. Even though they were still unfocused, they shone gently, like pearls catching the light of a faraway moon.
The hand on her forehead moved slowly, sliding down to support the back of her head.
The person who had touched her gently sat up beside her. The touch was soft and comforting.
As her mind started to clear, and her special sight slowly sharpened, familiar feelings returned to her. "My head... my hand... my body..." The realization came gently but clearly.
It was her own hand on her forehead.
The sigh she heard was hers. The beautiful lavender eyes slowly blinking in the dark were her own eyes. And the person sitting up — feeling the pain of waking after being still for so long — was Hinata.
Hinata slowly woke up from the deep, confusing darkness of unconsciousness.
The pain behind her eyes faded into a dull throb. As her unique vision began to focus, the cave around her slowly became clearer.
She looked around at the sleeping forms of her friends. Her eyes, still a little blurry from sleep, first landed on Sakura, then Ino, and finally Karin — all curled up together, fast asleep.
A soft, warm smile touched Hinata's lips as she saw them safe. "Thank goodness I'm alive… and they're safe too," she thought, feeling a wave of relief wash over her.
Then her gaze stayed on Karin, and a small uneasiness crept in. She couldn't see all of Karin's body — part of it was lost in the deep shadows. And strangely, she couldn't see the cave walls either. Darkness was everywhere, spreading slowly, quietly pressing in from all sides.
"It must be dark because the boulder fell and blocked the light," she told herself, trying to explain it. Still, a soft shiver ran down her spine.
Being careful not to wake anyone, Hinata gently pushed herself up to her feet. Her throat felt dry and rough.
"I'm really thirsty," she whispered to herself. "I'll ask Tenten-chan for some water."
She walked slowly and quietly, her bare feet making soft sounds on the uneven ground.
The darkness made it hard to see, and her vision — though naturally sharp — felt weaker because of how tired and low on chakra she was.
Suddenly, from deeper inside the cave, she heard it. A soft sound — footsteps. Like someone running.
Her blood turned cold. "Running?" Her heart jumped in her chest, and she froze where she stood.
She started backing up, eyes wide, staring into the darkness. Then panic set in. She turned, trying to go back — but it was too dark. She couldn't see anything.
She moved blindly now, trying to remember the direction she'd come from, her usual clear vision useless in the blackness.
Then — her foot hit something.
A small rock.
She stumbled. "Ahhh!" she gasped, afraid she was about to fall hard.
But the ground never came. Strong arms suddenly caught her — holding her tightly around the waist. She felt the warmth of someone behind her — steady, strong.
Her eyes flew open in shock. She was leaning back into someone. Held firmly. And as she looked up, she saw a pair of deep, dark eyes… very close to hers.
Her face was tilted, just inches from his.
He looked down at her, a little surprised.
And then — her vision cleared just enough to recognize him. A wave of pure embarrassment hit her all at once.
"Oh no…" her mind screamed. She knew exactly whose arms she was in. "Hinata…"
A familiar, low voice said her name — quiet, almost unsure.
