-----------
Why is that soldier so terrified? The answer to this question will be revealed soon. Under the eyes of countless observers, in the room, SCP-096, covering his face and screaming in pain, suddenly let go of his hands.
Seeing this, the people outside the window, as well as viewers, were shocked. But no one had time to react; SCP-096 rushed toward the terrified soldier.
At the critical moment, the soldiers fired. Intense gunshots, the terrified screams of the soldiers, and the screams of SCP-096 sounded simultaneously. The noises mixed and created a sound that made people's hair stand on end.
The group couldn't help but widen their eyes, and countless viewers also widened theirs. Under the watchful eyes of many, SCP-096 resisted the bullets, threw the soldiers to the ground, and then began tearing and pulling frantically.
"Omg...ho!" Kiwo couldn't help but cover her mouth with both hands.
Brit and RT also had livid faces; they were all shocked to see the scene in the room. SCP-096 was crying at first, then suddenly went mad and killed the soldier. The process was extremely brutal, with blood splattering even on the window glass. No one expected SCP-096 to attack so suddenly and so violently.
After killing the soldier, SCP-096 stood there, leaning slightly, body trembling, whimpering and crying while keeping its back turned to the window. This prevented the group and stream viewers from seeing its front.
"Squat down first," Brit said softly.
Kiwo and RT nodded and sat down with Brit. After squatting, Kiwo finally couldn't hold it anymore, she covered her mouth and retched for a moment, but did not vomit.
"It's... too cruel," Kiwo said, her face pale; the massacre just now shook her.
RT, nearby, was in a similar state. "F*ck! That thing... it's another monster!"
Brit quickly put his hand in front of his lips, signaling silence. "Keep down. I don't know how its hearing is, but it probably hasn't noticed us."
After a few seconds of contemplation, Brit frowned and continued, "It's complicated. We don't have a file, and we don't know its specific anomalous properties. However, some things can be confirmed now. First, SCP-096's resistance to attacks is strong, bullets can't harm it."
"Then, there's another point: when it's crying, it probably means it's about to attack. That's why the soldier was so frightened. Also, SCP-096's perception might not be very good, or its intelligence isn't high. Otherwise, after all this time outside, it should have noticed us."
After Brit finished, Kiwo and RT nodded thoughtfully. Judging from the situation just now, Brit's analysis seemed logical. But without official files, no one could be certain.
The viewers in the stream also heard Brit's analysis. As they recovered from the shock, the chat lit up again:
"I didn't expect that!"
"The fact that it resists bullets! Although I can't see the front, it feels like bullets wouldn't hurt it at all! Krass!"
"Damn! You can't judge these things by appearance!"
"Exactly! Just like Brit said, once this guy wants to act, it cries for a while before attacking. That soldier must have known something, or he wouldn't be so scared."
"By the way, why didn't the soldier escape?"
"I'm thinking... maybe he knew he couldn't get away, that's why he was so desperate?"
"Oh sh*t, that makes sense!"
Time passed silently.
The group under the window anxiously considered their next move. Their current situation was that they didn't understand SCP-096's nature, its intelligence level, perception ability, attack mechanisms, or resistance, all unknown.
They even thought of Little Peanut, and Kiwo asked whether SCP-096 had a "weakness," like being unable to move when stared at. Brit and RT shook their heads. How could they know if SCP-096 had any weaknesses? All they knew was that if it went crazy, it could tear them apart in an instant.
In this moment, Brit felt a twinge of regret for not checking the Navigator before entering this area. If they had checked it beforehand, perhaps they would have been better prepared and less passive.
But after some thought, Brit felt relieved. Whether or not they had checked, this was the only way forward. Why try to go back and take a detour? Wasting time was risky, if they were unlucky, they might encounter that insane angel again. At that point, they would be finished.
"Well, we must go in and see," Brit said helplessly after a brief pause.
At this moment, in the room, SCP-096's whimpering and crying had not stopped. No one knew what kind of sadness it carried. It had just killed someone, yet it cried like that. Brit looked up at the window, a hint of helplessness on his face.
"Since the game gave us this puzzle, it must be solvable. Now, we can only go in and take a look. Staying here isn't a solution. I also guess SCP-096 doesn't kill on sight... Let me go in first. You guys stay outside, you might be able to activate the lock switch in this room." After Brit finished speaking, Kiwo and RT nodded in understanding.
They were about to follow Brit inside, but he shook his head and said, "Don't. If it goes crazy again, the three of us will be wiped out instantly. Going one by one gives us a better chance."
Kiwo and RT could only nod.
Brit exhaled, then, before heading in, he glanced at the chat in the stream, hoping to see if viewers had any good ideas for clearing this level:
"Brit, come on!"
"Hey, do you think SCP-096 cried that much because it was scared by the soldier? Like, it freaked out and over-defended?"
"Dude! I'm dead from laughing! Self-defense gone too far!"
"Hey, don't say that, and it kinda makes sense!"
"I feel like SCP-096 might be a bit smart. Try communicating calmly, maybe it'll let us pass? Like, show we're not hostile..."
